@1787dude thanks! by "older" i take it you're referring to my complete lack of ray-trace or cgi (except lifted from pro media)... ...well, now that i think about it, it is probably doing things that are based on old tech tricks (like video feedback) and using gradient filters that create my own little signatory fucked-upedness, even tho i'm on a Mac. Well, that's pretty old too (sorta, in an American tech sense). the only code i push is lifted and deliberately misused to watch things break.
man i wish i used mac because thats awesome, how do u do it??? i cant think of a way to recreate that unless i raided the public access channel in my hometown. there was this guy in houston texas, called himself the gopper bopper, and he did all this crazy shit with the equipment and made his show all trippy, he was an old hippie and people called him and talked shit to him all the time, he was so mean to his callers lol, and he called his show punishement telivision.craziest shit i ever saw
@1787dude goto tucows.com, find AVS studio. it's free, has some cool FX, hooks up to whatever codexs you've got pretty tight. but most importantly it's nonlinear, meaning you're not stuck with one timeline dependent layer, you can flop clips over each other as wacky as ya feel with as much processing as your machine can handle.
@1787dude if you have a webcam or actually any digi cam that has a DV out, patch it into your machine through the video in (or use VLC or even AVS, something to capture and preview the signal) then just fire up the frop and point the camera at the window monitoring it. Adjust the contrast and fuck with the color balance, remember it's best to have a light source between the two (candle) and try hitting it from the diagonal. Just don't let it burn your screen. Unless it's someone else's.
@BobForehead that sounds like something i would do, i love messing with technology, i just started modding keyboards this month, i have a yamaha now that has a gain fuzz distortion thing now, i built it in and it sounds like a guitar now, have u ever heard of circuit bending, i just got into it and its awesome,
@BobForehead im bending an old yamaha right now, i put 2 distortions on it, a really clear crisp one and a really raunchy second one that makes a clicking sound. the keyboard didnt even need to be bent, it sounds like a sega on acid lol, i am buying abunch of old toys next month to bend, i might try and sell some of them, i really want to bend a speak and spell, i heard those are fun
