Construction on 7th Ave LRT Enters Final Phase

This is from our Transportation Department:

Five-car service is many years out. Five-car trains will require major system work, including revising tracks and switches to accommodate longer trains. It is a much more expensive proposition than extending to four cars.

By the time Calgary needs five-car trains, the existing four-car platforms will be nearing the end of their lifecycle.

ok, stupid question.... if the plan is to expand the south-northwest line to five-car trains, why not skip the four-car platform and build straight to five car? like, seems like a MAJOR waste of money to me...

if calgary doesn't get at least a little subway on 8th ave in the next 20 years id be very surprised. I mean even Edmonton has a 6 station subway line. Its just really expensive thats all.

Well folks, that should answer one question once and for all: They will never build a subway in Calgary. NEVER NEVER NEVER!!! Calgary will always have an oversized streetcar system that people around the world laugh at. Brono was such an idiot.
