  • every morning for breakfast. We did get backstage. Granny was young then and rode Harleys with The Hells Angels. It pissed her off that he didnt know the people who helped him get started once he made it big.

  • yes, this is a good song. Donny lived with us on Hudson St. when I was a kid. My grandma and gramps, Charlie Parker took him in when he was a nobody, fed him , housed him, etc. My grandpa gave him the money to get to Nashville. When he had his first big show in Nashville me and granny went to see it. Granny said tell Johnny that Gladys is here to see him and he acted like he didnt know who she was. Granny said, You tell that son of a bitch that Im the one who made him biscuits and gravy

  • So I just watched the movie EXTRACT which has this song at the beginning, so I thought I would look it up. Quality.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG! RIP JOHNNY!

  • Great Song!

  • never hear it near enough

  • Why caint they make country music like this anymore????

  • Same for me, it reminds me of growing up back in the days when country was country. Now most of the stuff that calls itself "country" does not sound or feel like country music, it's garbage!

  • This song went so well with the movie "Extract."

  • Thank you for posting the original. This reminds me of my early childhood and watching Hee Haw and the Barbara Mandrell Show.

  • LOL i heard that song in a movie ! what i was missing? that song is amazing :D thanks for posting!

  • @SaraMiriamCastelo I think im watching the movie your talking about (Extract ?) ha ha . skipped over to here to see who sang this.... Great tune.

  • @FWFFAN Yes xD I did exactly the same as you !! this movie picked up the right song and put it in the right place !!

  • You have reason it is the same version of the disc 45 Epic original version. I congratulate you for being the only one in Youtube.

  • Heard This song on the 2009 movie Extract & Loved it

  • nice song!

  • what a brilliant song...Its amazing how people call new "POP" country!

  • This is always going to be the classic and best version. Tracy byrd did not bring this song justice.

  • A lot of young'ns might not know this song, if not for remakes. Paycheck still the man, though. Nice post

  • still like the original better with the ladies in the back groung GOO Freddie North

  • Saw him in Nashville a couple years before his death. He opened for Jr Brown, along with Wayne (The Train) Hancock. One of the best show I've seen. He was in fine voice that night. Hancock is great as well. If you've not heard him, he is pure country, in the vein of Dale Watson.

  • hell yeah! Wayne the train rules! JR brown can sure play guitar huh?!

  • ORIGINAL RECORDING. Fabulous, great post.

  • Damn straight! No room for re-records on this channel. Thanks for listening :)

  • Great Song. This song was written by Jerry Swamp Dogg Williams.

  • Finally the REAL version! Thank YOU!

  • All this talent, and George Jones had to finance a head stone for such a legend.

George must be a good damn friend.

  • Hell yeah, here's the original version.

  • I love Johnny Paycheck. He has done some of the Best Country songs ever done.... However, It is songs like this that has led to Rascal Flatts and all those other bands of the same (overproduced) ilk. (I hate THAT shit....) If I could line up Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts,Sugarland,(I'm sure you get the picture), I would have no compunction about mowing them down with an AK-47.....Naw... I'm just thinking out-loud.....(gimme Ray Price, Merle Haggard, or Johnny Paycheck, any time...) W'Dan

  • hell ya dan

    im right there with u

  • i may help pull the trigger. especially on that sugarland girl. god, that's awful music!

  • She looks like she is constipated when she sings.....

  • You left out Gene Watson.

  • HELL YEAH! If i hear rascal flats one more time i might take some innocent bystandard out! Merle haggard is throwing up in his own mouth and hank senior is rolling in his grave!

  • @zabba312 Sad man that today Hank and the Hag wouldn't even stand a chance. They aint pretty boys in cowboy hats with bullshit songs set to a pop music beat and bullshit music.I Guess real talent doesn't count anymore.Sad man sad.

  • I love this song. It was the first song I ever sang. I was like 3 in the back seat just siging the friend part and the do do do of it. Its still one of my most memorable songs. Love it!!
