I'm sure he is very good - but there are certain practices that must be adhered to - such as the over extension of the knee joint eventually this will lead to severe knee problems during my years of training I have known individuals that have damaged their knee joints for life because of improper training techniques.
@SOLICMinc I think the moment you feel that you are using your knee joint while kicking it means you are inviting injury, what I mean is to use the mucsles around the knee joint not the knee it self, most of the Karateka dont py enough attintion for condtioning and the general prepardness
@jfz8: You obviously do not know Shotokan when you see it. I have practiced shotokan for 14 years now, and Sensei Koyama has a very different teaching method. Some of his classes start by beign very loose before moving into explosion. It still amazes me how many people go on youtube to insult the video or say "this isn't..." as if they are some kind of expert.
@odjrin ure right..... this is just a 2 min plus video clip, its not a whole training session or something....its cool that different senseis have different types of teaching methods.....
this isn't shotokan there technique is sloppy there wrist are bent when they strike and theres no power shown in the strike and there fist aren't chambered and when they kick there hands should be up.
Herhe nice :))

Does Koyama share the same philosophy as Asai?

I am not too familiar with Sensei Asai, as I have never met him or had a class with him. From what I hear he is very good though.

When I train with my sensei, every move exudes power, this seems quite weak in comparison, it lacks focus
