  • Seeing this song performed was so tragic and so beautiful at the same time. I don't know if you guys have seen the opera, but a bus driver is reading this poem to the audience while a black and white women sit next to each other on the park bench, not touching, and they never do, as if society wants to keep them apart (same sex love or different races), whereas the poem deeply contrasts this as if the love story of old is never realized in the real world as we want it to be.

  • Philip glass has the sound of now .

  • holy fuck this just rocked my shit...i'm crying :)

  • This is amazingly beautiful. This could be played at my birth, my wedding, my funeral.

  • I WANT TO MARRY THIS ONE TOO

  • watch?v=ZhgYCrtxqqg this is some minimalist music i made

  • Philip Glass really understands that when something is sufficiently epic, it's ok to repeat it nine thousand times.

  • @Danthepianist

    or even ... OVER 9000

  • @Danthepianist not 9 thousand ... OVER 9 THOUSAAAAAAAND

  • these are the days my friends

  • Happy Happy Happy, everybody's happy

  • i'm responsible for at least 50 listens. guilty.

  • When I do my artwork to Philip Glass, it always comes out looking brilliant. It's not distracting, I think that is the space between the music and the listener he talks about, it's always the same yet it's always changing. Thankyou Mr Glass for giving such amazing music to the world!

  • A minor, G, and C...just 3 simple chords but it impacts my heart in a way that nothing else ever will... i wish we could be together once more, if i could ever have another chance, i would make it last forever!!!

  • ...thus effectively putting me to sleep.

  • Puts me in a trance-like state

  • the 1978 Sony Classical recording is better.

  • This may be the best love song ever written.

  • This is available through Amazon's MP3 service. I highly recommend the 1993 Nonesuch recording (this video) over the 1978 Sony Classical.

  • OMG!! I am SO in LOVE with the violin solo on this song! It just invokes me and feels me with so much emotion everytime I hear it! (NOT an easy task.)

I wish I could find a version that is completely instrumental.

  • @CyanideFilledCandy knee 4 is very similar to this without the poem.

  • @cptspoofy Oh? The violin is in that one as well?

  • @cptspoofy So I heard. Absolutely beautiful!
