@red44ever well it sounds like u have an xbox from the 2006. if so then i have to agree. but the new Jasper motherboard xbox'es are well built. u can get rrod with it but not so easely. i mean if you seriously block the ventilation then sure it will get the rrod. i think my xbox has 2 years now. and its working like a charm. how did i do it? i didnt play it 24/7, like on cod4 i do a few missions and then let it rest. with online play, the same thing. i can say dont play it for hours :D
@Touchfair Sorry dude but I never played my xbox 24/7. I rarely used my xbox only on some occasions. The only reason I got the 360 is because the ps3 was delayed in europe and i wanted a hd console. As soon as I got the ps3 the xbox was rarely used, I would say I used maximum gameplay 2 months out of the year and it still got rrod. I play my ps3 like nearly every day and it is still going strong. I don't stop for it to rest or what you do and nothing so far.
Hey uh not trying to condradict you but my brother and i have had our xbox for many years andweven pretty much done everything you said not to do. Like we even have the intercooler and we have it plugged into a power bar and such. We only had 1 scare of ROD but we turned it off then pushed the power cord the rest of the way in ( Guess it wasnt all the way in) and it worked again.
Don't put anything on your Xbox 360 or other Xbox versions, and in the manual stands also that you need to put the xbox horizontale and not verticale to prevent scratches on the disc and to prevent that your xbox dies!!!
i hate the red ring, microsoft obviosly build in a chip which has a timer for it to go off so you get the red ring of death, so there isnt really anyway of preventing it guys:/
@fredster286 actually no. in one way the rrod is good. lets take a look at ps1. if it broke it wouldnt give you any sign of being broken, it just wouldnt work. and it would be alot harder to find how to fix it. but now rrod says that there is an error. so its alot easier to know what kind of failure you have on your xbox. but we xbox owners still hate rrod and im still afraid of it :D

NO! If the xbox is lying on its side all of the hot air has no where to go because of the table or whatever its on but if you have it standing up the heat can move away from the xbox also, if you lay it on its side the bottom vent allows more air in WRONG if you take apart your xbox you will see that the heatsinks are pointed away from the bottom vent so it is useless all it is doing is allowing more dust in. Never clean your xbox with a hairdryer your just going to blow the dust inside of it!

so, how does leaving a disk inside the drive when off cause a wind tunnel? if nothing is moving how will that even happen? the drive itself has no vents, it's just a solid disk drive and the only way for anything to get inside is if the tray is open. if you mean that turning the box off and the tray is still ejected, they close it automatically during shut down.

man i've done alot of research all over the internet but i still can't find my answer. ok i got a 120g xbox 360 elite and i always treated it with much care and i hooked it up with a great intercooler so the system is ALWAYS cool to the touch. but lately the light that turns on when you have a second controller connected is blinking alot. it just blinks green (never red) when it blinks the light for the first controller turns off then it goes back to normal. why is this happening? @ryangrieveous123 i figured out the problem it was that i was still charging a controller and that makes the power brick go green when you turn it off. but when i unpulged the cable form the x box 360 that was charging the controller the power brick when red again so thank you for the help :)
@MrGames123123 im not sure but my xbox is a little harder to shut off you may have to press the power button a few more times. If your fans are still running and/or the light is still green it means the xbox is still on. if you have tried everything and its still a green light just pull the plug

yo if you put the xbox 360 laying down it overheats 10 times more than standing it up. Because every thing is on the left side so when you lay it down it gets realy hot but if you stand it up it has air flow on both sides thats why it should be position verticle.

i use my xbox's box to help prevent rrod... but i did it in a different way, i stand the box in a vertical way, and place my 360 on top, which exposes the vents under the 360.... it kinda look like this " T " u see the long part of the letter t that represents the box, and the horizintal part which is the top part of the t is the 360...
only with warranty. It's better to over heat when you have the warranty then when you don't why because then you never have to buy a new one. so its better to let it happen then prevent it why so you can be sure the warranty will never expire. sure Microsoft sucks golf balls threw a garden hose but at lest you wont have to buy another game console. with out warranty um use these methods and others and all my best to you.

man i've done alot of research all over the internet but i still can't find my answer. ok i got a 120g xbox 360 elite and i always treated it with much care and i hooked it up with a great intercooler so the system is ALWAYS cool to the touch. but lately the light that turns on when you have a second controller connected is blinking alot. it just blinks green (never red) when it blinks the light for the first controller turns off then it goes back to normal. why is this happening? THANKS!

@ryangrieveous123 i figured out the problem it was that i was still charging a controller and that makes the power brick go green when you turn it off. but when i unpulged the cable form the x box 360 that was charging the controller the power brick when red again so thank you for the help :)

@MrGames123123 im not sure but my xbox is a little harder to shut off you may have to press the power button a few more times. If your fans are still running and/or the light is still green it means the xbox is still on. if you have tried everything and its still a green light just pull the plug

@MrGames123123 No thats normal its because the brick still has power going throw it, when it does you can diconnect the power supply from te wall push the power botton and the 360 will still turn on!!!!!!!

@MrGames123123 to fix it look at the bottem and push down the tab then it will show the hard drive put the tab of the hard drive and it will pop out shake it and put it back in its because it might hav been bumped around during transport. XBOX 360 S To fix it on the xbox old version take the hard drive off and shake it it may have been loose during its transport then try it again i hope i helped

yo if you put the xbox 360 laying down it overheats 10 times more than standing it up. Because every thing is on the left side so when you lay it down it gets realy hot but if you stand it up it has air flow on both sides thats why it should be position verticle.

my xbox360 has gotten the 2RROD off and on recently and I looked this up to stop it. I noticed my powerbox was mega dusty because its underneath a desk, could that cause that kind of RROD? Since I have followed all the other steps exactly

i use my xbox's box to help prevent rrod... but i did it in a different way, i stand the box in a vertical way, and place my 360 on top, which exposes the vents under the 360.... it kinda look like this " T " u see the long part of the letter t that represents the box, and the horizintal part which is the top part of the t is the 360...

only with warranty. It's better to over heat when you have the warranty then when you don't why because then you never have to buy a new one. so its better to let it happen then prevent it why so you can be sure the warranty will never expire. sure Microsoft sucks golf balls threw a garden hose but at lest you wont have to buy another game console. with out warranty um use these methods and others and all my best to you.
