thats a sick hard drive. head crash it sounds like what brand was the drive? Seacrate, Hitrashi?.. i wish Apple used WDC.. good hdd's

Already fixed. Apple Store had a new drive in within 24 hours. Luckily I always have a backup to restore from...thanks Time Machine!

U cant have had it long. Take it to Apple and demand they fix it. It defo is not supposed to sound like that!
