Broadway singers can just eat their hearts out. Nothing beats a classical vocal technique and style. This will never be more beautifully sung in the next million years. Note the breath control - no gasps or breaks in the middle of words or phrases. Perfect command of dynamics, too.
The most beautiful version of this piece, what a wonderful musical sang by a wonderful singer. He proves opera crossover can work if put with the right material.
what a perfect performance of this very pretty song! so reassuring to listen to him sing it, as you recognize the effortlessness of his voice and his appreciation for the words and the tune.
@delam2 Thanks for asking. It went well. I was not expecting to get cast as Charley as I am too old for the role but I did get cast as Angus McGuffey and we had a great time and packed the house 26 times of the 32 show run. I have since done a production of Phantom and just got cast as Jacob / Potiphar in a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Since this is a baritone role I will be stretched to the low end of my range. Should be fun.
@delam2 Oh, it's amateur local community theatre. The company does a great job and has received many regional awards as well as many of our actors getting similar recognition. You can see some of what we do on YouTube just search “Artisan Center Theatre”
I love this song. He's done a nice job. Though I've always thought Andrew Lloyd Webber stole the "Come to me, bend to me" tune for "Music Of The NIght." :)
omgsh my singing teacher is having me sing this and i'd never heard it so she starts playing it....and im like...hmmmm sounds a lot like music of the night lol
Oh God.... JMA here sings like an angel, never heared him so melodic and with such a sweet voice. This is a superb piece. BRAVISSIMO JOHN MARK!!!! YOU ARE THE BEST TENOR
Since my teens I always appreciated John's works, he as a tenor is wonderful, it is very hard to find an evangelist tenor, he is the best, no doubt, congratulations
not a dry in the house after that one. how to jewish guys could write a song that goes straight to my scottish heart I'll never know ... but my etneral thanks to Lerner & Lowe

This is one of the most beautiful tenor voices I have ever heard. Gorgeous gorgeous sound. I could listen all day to his voice.
What other songs like this, has he recorded?
joycehays 2 years ago 6
He also sings "I'll Go Home with Bonnie Jean" in this CD.

He's a well-known tenor, but I don't know that he's done any other non-classical recordings. I agree -- it's beautiful.
carolinecollett 2 years ago
@joycehays He also recorded the role of Mr. Snow from Carousel, opposite Sarah Brightman. Also in the cast: Samuel Ramey, Barbara Cooke.
