When I listen to this song I cannot but think of the poor people of New Orleans when Katrina hit it, poor planning and fucking George playing golf and fishing , he´s a fucking dog piece of shit
This the most incredible rendering of Led Zeps masterpiece. If you listen closely you will hear Katrina approaching and those driving waves beating on the levee. You will even hear the quiet when the eye passes over and then the pounding and driving wind and rain builds until the crashing sound of the levee breaking and the chaotic rush of water everywhere and the people fleeing in all directions. I am haunted by the last lyrics of the song...going down going down now...
seriously? you think someone just put it down as it is now with a giant rubber stamp like you do in simcity?
that city was constructed over many many many decades. i'd be wiling to bet it expanded a lot. it just turned out like that. noone designed it that way.
Magnificent! Led Zeppelin's version of When the Levee Breaks is a powerful music statement on the elemental force of water but it took a full symphony orchestra to bring it to fruitition. Rock on London Philharmonic! Listen to this on a rainy day
you are making no sense pal....this is an amazing arrangement. if someone could arrange the vocals for a choir that would be an interesting addition, but its great as is

Don't like it. It just doesn't work like this. Kashmir and Stairway work great, but this just doesn't. This song HAS to be bluesy, and this isn't at all.
i dont have any thing against gay people, he just knows what gay is, they never bothered me, so i dont have any reason to be mad at them, accept this guy right here.
When I was young the old foggies listened to symphonies and I listened to LED. Now that I;m an old foggie what do I listen to now?- LED ZEPPLIN SYMPHONIC !
You are correct, the song was originally written by Memphis Minnie but this cover by the London Philharmonic Orchestra is much closer to the Led Zeppelin version than the original, in my opinion.
@deadendkid1968 No, the credit should not go to Memphis Minnie. The part of Led Zeppelin's song that was credited to Memphis Minnie was the lyrics, not instrumental parts; and being that this has no lyrics, Memphis Minnie has no direct influence.
The story behind this version is a cool one - if you still have the cd with the art & story about the whole cd - each song is fantastic...I purchased the CD approx 8 yrs ago, never went beyond looking at the enclosed art...afterall that is what I bought it for - then after some bouts with a brain disease & the songs that were familiar to me just made me cry to think about what I would be leaving behind...turned out I just needed to hear it a different way - Symph Led Zep gave me back my mojo !!!
Two things: First, this version is beyond epic. I have seriously spent all night (practically) looking for a way to get an MP3 version for my iPod. Second, YouTube flags the actual versions of this song due to copyright laws. I had two videos muted because of it :/.
google Youtube Converter and it'll download an mp4 of the video to your computer, and then google AoA Audio converter, and you can take the audio from the video in the MP3 format and you can put that right into iTunes for your iPod.
type in youtube converter in google and the good ones will allow you to download the video AND convert it into whatever you like, that's what i'm doing:)
Playing this symphonic Zeppelin for an old fogie or any other stiff is a great way to open the door to them of the greatest band in history. Otherwise, it's useless....nothing compares to the original. Led Zeppelin was, is and will always be the ultimate rock band.
Geez, you make me smile. You are the ultimate joke, if you haven't realized it yet. and By the way, Led Zep. is the ultimate. Nothing to add behind it - They are just pure ULTIMATE!
I think maybe you were on crack during this period of time. Maybe later when you aren't go back and see some of the amazing things Led Zeppelin has done!
Jimmy Page was pehaps the greatest guitar players to ever grace the earth and probably one of the most creative musical minds ever.
Robert Plant had some of the most amazing vocals that stretched form a wide range.
John Paul Jones was one of the most flexible players in the band. He played almost every instrument known to man and helpedd Zeppelin to adapt to different styles of music.
And Bonzo was self taught and probably the best drummer ever!
So many whingers in here. Of course this isn't going to sound like LZ, but what did some of you expect? They've taken the song to a different place and I respect that - it is the spirit of musical adventure that drove LZ in the first place. Get off your high horses and enjoy it for what it is.
damn why is there only Orchestra, Drum covers, gUitar covers on youtube but nowhere the real song...thats messed up :( i just want the embed of the real song xD
it funny how an orchestra cant play this song well when Page and Plant and Bonham and Jones, just four guys(who were mortal gods) play it better than 50 people together. LED ZEPPELIN TILL THE END
Well... you're right.. but they're not mortal gods.... they just used a bunch of imperfect bodies to canalize perfection trough them towards our imperfect world duch needed for divine inspiration such as this... they're still alive... but in another plane of existence...
and btw... they came to prove divinity and perfection are facts and not just myths...
If you heard this live you'd feel the power inside it. This here definitely doesn't do it justice. And I think the problem most people have is comparing it to the original song. If you never heard Zeppelin before it would sound a lot different. But then again, that's only my opinion.
Not really, although bonzo was a pretty good drummer , ambient studio miking and compression made the track . It was recorded in headley grange which was an old house with plenty of natural reverb.
It's lost something in the translation - despair! Plants bemoaning plaintive voice and the wailing banshee harmonica have no equivalent here. I feel like I'm listening to something entirely different here - but I don't know what!
how did you get this symphony version?..i assume from ninjaburgers comment that its an actual cd..im new to the led zepplin but i like what i hear, and i would like to get the song/cd

"When the levee breaks" is an American folk song? So, Led Zeppelin wasn't the original performer of it?
