Thane is probably the dumbest person (skills-wise) to recruit. According to him, if he gets caught in a gunfight, he has failed the first part of his mission. So why would you recruit an assassin...as a frontline soldier?
@Wolfsrain90 Probably for the infiltration ability, being able to penetrate an enemy stronghold and/or remove a high priority target has tons and tons of potential as part of a fire team. ME2 never really gave him a chance to do anything like that tho, so he became just another guy with a gun.

Shepard and her/his crew are going into the Collector homeworld blind - until they get the IFF, they could be marching on an entire damn planet...and were, so far as they knew. Infiltration would be ideal, but on such a scale, it would be improbable anything would come of it. If they had to sabotage a fleet, it would end up being a frontline assault with a diversionary squad.
I think I'm the only one who doesn't like Thane. Maybe because I got him so late at the game that I was tired of hearing my squadmates stories. And Thane was really complex and confusing.

@natanfk2 Well, I think Thane meant that by his son is "disconnected" is that to a drell (and perhaps also a hanar) your soul and body are two seperate entities who in order to function probably needs to be "connected" with each other. F.ex: if you act without no comtemplation of your actions f.ex in thinking: "is this the right choice??" etc. So, in Thane´s son´s case he has "lost touch" with his higher being aka his soul.
@natanfk2 Actually I´m not sure if Legion meant the geth programs were lying dormat in their system network or that the mobile platforms (the Geth´s "physical" form you know, the robots with flashlight heads etc.) "turned off" because the geth were communicating inside the ship´s network and thus have left the mobile platforms. It would have been cool but they didn't because Legion is a surprise character. The only trailer I've seen that features him painted him as a possible villain. They weren't gonna spoil it by revealing him as a recruitable teammate.
