The practice of vipasana is a mediation technique for seeing into reality by looking inside one’s self. It is a practice to eliminate attachment to greed, anger and delusions, which are generally referred to as defilements. If a practitioner can not see these defilements in them selves, then it will be particularly difficult to unattached from them. So, if the showing of shrines bring this defilement out then they are exceptionally useful for the practice vipassana.
If you have practiced Vipassana using the techniques handed down from the venerable Ajahn Tong but have not heard this talk, this talk is posted for you.
If you have not practiced Vipassana using Ajahn Tong's techniques or followed the Visuddhimagga -- The Path of Purification, then these talks may be difficult to understand.
If you have any questions or difficulties understanding any portion of the talk please feel free to contact me. I will respond to all questions.
