I like the way he reloads immediately after the shooting, unlike what you'll see in most westerns. That's probably what it would be like in real life... an unloaded gun isn't much good, is it?
Cheating whore got like ten people killed. The old west when slapping someone in the face didnt mean you were a bitch that couldnt punch, but meant that you werent afraid to put your life on the live to demand respect.
APH92, it's called cross draw. many felt that it was a faster way to clear the gun leather. some also carried their revolvers butt forward thinking that it was a better way to draw and if two were carried, then either would be available to either hand. all those ways were tried out and through a process of elimination, the buscadero holster, hanging down from the belt and placing the revolver closer to the hand was developed.

Viggo Mortenson could be in 10 movies in 1 year, and be completey different in each one of them!!! he is an amazing actor, as well as Ed Harris...sometimes Harris isnt as versitile, BUT he is still an awesome unforgettable actor...and he did great directing in this as well.
I agree with you, but there are also other reasons for that stance: the shooting arm is in front of him, pointing downward but tight and ready to shoot, and the shoulder is pointing the target - thereby the only thing the shooter have to do is to get his arm up and shoot; the weight is on the back leg - that gives him stability and improves the precision of each shot. In my opinion the Bragg's stance will never have any chance of success against the Everet's. About the movie - it's just awesome
That is a great part with Dean getting his teeth knocked out on the ridge.
I laughed when Virgil said "I dont think you liked it all that much yourself Dean" and Dean responds..."Your damn right"
I like the fact that there isnt a lot of dialogue between Everett and Virgil, just an unspoken understanding.
Virgil took care of business, and Everett handled Bragg at the end. I wish they said what became of him. Kind of sad to see Everett ride off and leave Virgil after so long riding together.
virgil sounds like john marston which is quite ironic since this is also a wild west movie

@hmraleman I would just prefer to be reasonable, but a good pistol whip or punch would be a great alternative too.

Read the book, Virgil constantly misuses words. Sometimes Everett knows what he means, but can't figure out which word he's actually trying to say.

I the way Everret stands during the end duel. He knows he will be harder to hit like that.
M8DMAN 2 years ago 12
that's how your supposed to stand in the old western duels, but I think Everret knew he would easily kill Bragg
Jackson1010 2 years ago 2
I know it makes you harder to hit. That technique goes back to the day of single shot musket duels.
M8DMAN 2 years ago
Yeah,that was really good.

The actor actually researched how gunfighters stood back in the day for the role.

All you have to do is get the books BRIMSTONE and RESOLUTION. It follows Virgil & Everett as they catch up with Allie and kind of ends the saga.
