@EversHenriksen Well understandable really.. I am old but at least I am not a mental defective like you.... Did you use up all your brain power for the day thinking up that complex a comment? Deter is calling your from the bed room, he needs his inner spoon.. at least their is something you do well...No one touches his monkey like you do :D
Looks like a DW-5600C that is missing its bezel. It's kind of a collector's item today. Prices vary widely, in part due to there being different versions. I'm no expert in vintage Casio watches, but from what I read, a 5600C in mint condition can be worth as much as several hundred Dollars, esp. the rarer caseback and module versions. Purportedly, even a worn one can be worth around 200$. A used vintage bezel for this watch was sold on eBay a few days ago for 55 Dollars.
@criscros7 Interesting.. Well.. that same battery leaked and I dont think the watch will ever work again.. I would never sell it anyway because of its history in my life..but thank you very much for the information :D
That's pretty badass! How much did you pay for your g-shock? When I was a kid, I always had timex ironman watches, but recently, I started checking out casios, and so I have nothing but great things to say about any of them. (my newest casio has a 10 year battery, so I wonder how many years I can squeeze out of that one)
@nzkhmer. I have a solar g-shock. Got it seven years ago. On it's lil batt meter I think I have only seen it go from high to med once and that was during winter in alaska because I kept it covered with sleeves. Bit as soon as I noticed it I sat in under a lamp for a few hours and it was good. Just make sure it gets a few hrs min a day of light and it will last.
about the battry 20 years is a bloody long tme have you still got it?. have you heard of the light bulb affect. they have the technology to make light bulbs last for over 100 years but they purposely make them crap so we can keep buying them. i brought a g-shock thats solar powered it will be intresting to see how long it lasts
My watch has been with me for at least 15 years on the same battery. I forgot when and how I even got it but I think it was from my grandmother after my cheap POS plastic watch broke. Who knew it was a collectable now?
i work in industrial supply and i've busted 3 Timex watches before I bought a $20 Casio at walmart, which has taken a shitload of a beating. just upgraded to my first g-shock today.....<3 <3 <3
I had the original 1983 G-Shock. It was impervious to anything and everything it came across... that is until my fat aunt who weighs over 400 lbs. sat on it when I left it on the couch. I didn't say anything so as to not embarrass her but when she got up the watch was gone.
I loved that watch but now it's stuck somewhere up my aunt's butt.
@MegaDyneSystemsExe hahaha i feel bad cause my fat azz cousin weighs 220 pounds and sat on my new G shock watch that i purchased from Costco but luckily it didn't brake at all
I remember the day I bought one of these, I told the street seller: "I hope it lasts", and he said "Ha! you'll get bored of it". Truest words ever spoken.
I received a G-shock watch 24 years ago as a birthday gift in 1986 . Great watch !! I have surfed with it ,gone snorkling with it many times . Used it as my alarm clock . As a stop watch when running . The thing that amazes me the most about that watch is that it still has the original battery in it i have never changed it for a new one. How is this possible ?
@MyZbra Mine sat in a box for over 10 years without being used.. Died a few months after I made this video.. I guess if you dont really use it that battery will last for 20+ years
@BigMacFury Sigh.. I wish.. It stopped working after about 2 months.. But, it had been in a box for over 10 years.. So, when I actually started using it again, it died quick.. Took the battery out. Leaking weird shit... dont even know if it will work with a new battery... I be it does.. I did everything short of take a hammer to the thing and it still worked....
@compman67 slap a new bezel and may b some new straps and it would look brand new...casiosalesandservice is ur best bet if ur going to restore it though
all over youtube, if you give them any kind of attention, that will only feed them. all you got to do is ignore them no matter how arrogant and stupid they are.
I don't think the battery is a fluke. I've had Casio's that lasted over 10 years. Casio promised 10 years on the original GShock when they were first introduced. So it should last at least that long. The only thing that would shorten the life is alarm use and light use. That's why they changed their estimate to 5 years. Then, they lowered it again when the Illumator style of light was developed.
Rechargeable batteries like the one you got in your solar powered watch will use up it's ability to recharge over time. In some of the original solar models I hear those shocks have batteries that no longer store charge anymore!
I have and old casio calculator that I still use since 1992 with the same battery, and is not solar powered, someone screw up the calculators.....and people still think is a bad brand..
It is a G-Shock... Its just so old the black plastic has broken off.. Took over 20 years to happen . .but it did.. The battery outlasted the plastic shock gaurd
