It's hard to describe x86. That's why companies such as Microsoft have adopted their own way of describing them. Microsoft use x86 (32-bit) and x64 (64-bit) describe the different archs. Many linux vendors use AMD64 (the original name for 64bit by AMD) and i386 (named from Intel 80386). It was named "x86-64" as the 64bit registers were more of an addition to the existing 32bit registers, hence they added the extra -64 at the end of the name. x86-32 doesn't exist, as x86 is 32bit. Bit of trivia.

Windows XP 64-bit is really a FAIL version of Windows. Not many drivers available, no support for the Windows Live Suite, etc.

I wouldn't download that version, cause it's not even Final SP1, there is a SP2 available for XP x64 too. But there is no reason to use XP x64 instead of 7 x64.
