  • Richard Widmark (played the leading man Jed here) said of Marilyn: "...with a very few special people, something happens btw the lens and the film that's pure magic. And she really had it."

  • that nosey old lady remind me of mrs Kravitz from bewitched, always in peoples lives. lol

  • its funny when they kiss... the pressing of the lips... if they saw kissing in this era they would faint lol

  • that is the point she is in limbo between psychotic states. robotic then emotional. not too far from the crazy ass people nowadays. MM did an amazing job.

  • She plays the crazy role well :)

  • Never seen a Marilyn Monroe movie until watching this clip. Don't mean to sound like a debbie downer BUT she seems kinda mechanical in this movie. Very robotic. Don't see what the big deal is.

  • @sweetbunny9 because she plays a psycho

  • I bet she hated being mean to that little girl. She's wonderful, in every aspect possible, I love this serious role as well, shows what she was capable of if she only had the chance. =)

  • I just get the chills watching this movie it's so freaking weird!

  • wow she was skinny.

  • @monswat well yeah, this is before she had her miscarriages.

  • she's crazy! She's babysitting, drinking with a strange man in someone else's clothing. She's so strange in this movie.

  • For a second I thought she was gonna push the little girl out the window!!! WHOA...Marilyn is AMAZING in this role. So deep, profound and a little disturbing :)

  • a gorgeous babe with issues...wow.

also, seems to me like movies that were made decades be4 i was born, were way better than i gave em credit for. i only checked in to watch Marylin play and i keep going parts 1 through 5

  • This is definately one of her darker, sadder roles, so far as I've seen, and I really wish she did more roles like this one. I like the part where she's talking about the trucks being lit up like Christmas trees and "window wishing", it just feels really genuine and real, as though she's reaching into some deep emotion from her past.

The whole movie seems to have alot of coincidental parallels with her own experiences--troubled upbringing, mental illness, etc..

  • these old movies always have some great dialogue. the characters speak so refined and eloquently. I kinda wish today's movie had better dialogue instead of just cuss words to express emotion and everything

  • oh wow have never seen Marilyn so cold and unstable

what a revelation- this along with Bus Stop are her tour-de-force roles!!

7:38 made me almost jump of my skin!! lol

  • i was so scared for the little girl. i though it was strange at first how she treated her asnd allowing her to stand like that near the window.

  • HOLY SHIT the way she plays this role is flawless how do people not appreciate her Marilyn Munroe forever and always

  • totally agree she was so amazing in her times o and it's Monroe lol i used to spell it like that...

  • thanks for posting! i dont understand how marilyn did not receive praise for her talent after this movie.. and it was so early on in her career, too!

  • Chattanooga Choo-Choo, I love that song . . . I sang it in my school

  • gosh i've never seen this movies,i've looked for it everywhere and can't find it >:( i love marilyn, thanx so much... :)

  • maybe Netflix or Blockbuster . com.

  • Amazon has it on DVD
