Richard Widmark (played the leading man Jed here) said of Marilyn: "...with a very few special people, something happens btw the lens and the film that's pure magic. And she really had it."
that is the point she is in limbo between psychotic states. robotic then emotional. not too far from the crazy ass people nowadays. MM did an amazing job.
Never seen a Marilyn Monroe movie until watching this clip. Don't mean to sound like a debbie downer BUT she seems kinda mechanical in this movie. Very robotic. Don't see what the big deal is.
I bet she hated being mean to that little girl. She's wonderful, in every aspect possible, I love this serious role as well, shows what she was capable of if she only had the chance. =)
For a second I thought she was gonna push the little girl out the window!!! WHOA...Marilyn is AMAZING in this role. So deep, profound and a little disturbing :)
also, seems to me like movies that were made decades be4 i was born, were way better than i gave em credit for. i only checked in to watch Marylin play and i keep going parts 1 through 5
This is definately one of her darker, sadder roles, so far as I've seen, and I really wish she did more roles like this one. I like the part where she's talking about the trucks being lit up like Christmas trees and "window wishing", it just feels really genuine and real, as though she's reaching into some deep emotion from her past.
The whole movie seems to have alot of coincidental parallels with her own experiences--troubled upbringing, mental illness, etc..
these old movies always have some great dialogue. the characters speak so refined and eloquently. I kinda wish today's movie had better dialogue instead of just cuss words to express emotion and everything
