  • it was a big hit in sri lanka (then ceylon) where i grew up. incredible voice and beautiful voice, and a beautiful lady.

listen to giuni russo another great voice at an early age.

then there's leann rimes. real talent surfaces early. it just cant be hidden.

  • No, she was not responsible...

  • No she was not responsible...

  • cool...

  • My mother always used to tell me I was Responsibel. That's how I remember this song.

  • jew? negro?

    HUMEN BEING

  • @superpat1968

    HUMEN BEING

  • An unbelievable voice in anyone, but to think she was only 14 is mind blowing.

  • @coralarch She was 16 when she recorded "Not Responsible".

  • @dallaskenn Thaks. It's still a powerhouse voice for such a young person.

  • @coralarch Yes, I agree. "Not Responsible" was recorded in February of 1963 in Nashville, Tennessee along with several other classic hits like "No Trespassing" and "Woe Is Me" for the album "Helen In Nashville", now considered a classic. She'd been on tour with the Beatles and took a break to travel to the States to record the album with members of Elvis Presley's back-up band. At this time in her career during the tour with the Beatles, she was the show's star, and they were the opening act.

  • @dallaskenn Wow- you are a fount of knowledge about Helen!! Glad to see that she hasn;t been forgotten. I was about 13 when she released "No Trespassin'" and couldn't believe the voice I was hearing.

  • @coralarch Thanks, I've read Helen's autobiography called "Walking Back To Happiness", It was published back in 1994. Its the source of my information.

  • @dallaskenn Thanks- I must try to get a copy.

  • This song is grouse and everything word about this song has a meaning to it i love the beat to this song. ty once again for this song

  • sefket abi sen bir tanesin,

    best regards.

  • nevr heard before ...nice tune!!

  • Magic,,,,I believe her music was never released in the states.....

  • Absolutely Brilliant Song could easily be in the chart now , time, less and as for Helen , she's also amazing so sexy too

what more can I say ??

  • I've never met the lady but I would imagine that as eloundag says she is a lovely person & a great star Not responsible & No trespassing was a double"A" side top 10 in Australia where she is remembered and much loved . Female singers were puppets in those days and had no control over their careers. What chance would a 13, 14, 15, 16yr old girl have? But she survived . Why? Talent! And that voice. Love her. 1 Lord Thorpe. the first

  • listen from ŞEVKET UĞURLUER this song

  • Not only is she a great singer, she really is, a very nice person. I had the pleasure of spending part of an evening with her in Leeds quite a few years ago. She was so down to earth and natural. Lovely.

  • Still good..and fabulous!

  • Her voice is so warm ... pleasant to listen..really nice !!

  • Another great one by her!

  • When I first heard Amy Whine Ass I thought it was this nice lady unveiled....

  • One must admit that Amy Winehouse seems to go out of her way to look like Helen Shapiro circa 1963-1967.

  • @dallaskenn

I'm glad you noticed!!! I thougt I was crazy when I thought the same thing!!! :D

  • this is awesome stuff. someone should cover this.

  • She was only about 14 when she made this- wow, what a voice!

  • One of her best songs. She is wonderful

  • super song

  • I don't beleive my ears... haven't heard this for ages...what a touch. Tks

  • Helen's music, was a part of Jukebox music that I grew up with, her voice was lovely.

  • Rumour has it that her first husband was black, and her second husband was gay. Any truth to these?

  • Yes her First husband was Black, her second husband being gay is not true.

  • Wasn't Diana Rigg's first husband black as well?

  • You are opening a Can of worms.

  • Back to Helen's 2nd husband, Morris Gundlash; wasn't he a big fashion designer?

  • @franklindavid Some people never grow up do they?

  • @dallaskenn What has that got to do with anything? You are so immatures. If someone said wasn't your mother the same colour as you and wouldn't you be offended? Grow up

  • @mollymitch1 It's worth mentioning because there's a school of thought that the first marriage effected her career.

  • @franklindavid Was your husband/wife a different colour to you? What has that got to do with anything? Some people don't think before they open their mouth, you didn't.

  • Its unfortunate that she couldn't capitalize on her early association with the beatles, for all practical purposes she co-discovered them.

  • Great performance

  • brings back good old childfood memories!! great song .Loved it then and still do.Thanks !!

  • don't know this song from her....but a great song....I simply like it

    Fanchette

  • Brilliant. Hello to all from England!

  • What a gorgeous song. Haven't heard it for years and it was a real pleasure to hear this ladies brilliant voice again. Made my day. Thanks for posting it.

  • one of the best love it ,thay where good days FABULOUS

  • thanks for this great post!

  • My first time to hear this gem!!! I just discovered Helen Shapiro and I feel as if I have won the lottery!!! I am in love!!! Thanks for posting....the photos are as good as the music.......GREAT JOB!!!!

  • amy winehouse=çakma helen =))

  • helen shapiro for president!!!

  • It goes very well if listened together with Del Shannon's immortal hit of the same year "Runaway"...Additionally "Apache" by The Shadows must be listened after these two fine works as an instrumental hit in order to feel the real soul of the Golden Oldies:-))

  • Despite being a fan of Helen's in the early 60' (she is slightly older than me), I had not heard this until I bought the vinyl single 4 or 5 years ago. If it had been released a year or two earlier it would have made the top 5, if not number 1 - as it was,it didn't make the charts at all! Its a great pop song - and the other side, though much lighter, is fun as well. When the opportunity arose I got a second copy on Ebay to give to my daughter,as she appreciates Helen's talents.

  • HELEN SHAPIRO AT HER BEST - Those were the days!

    Thanks for this

  • Amy Winehouse. The spitting image! Wow!

  • şevket uğurluer is fabulous!!!!

  • Thank you SO much for locating and publishing this. I love this song!

    fabulous rendition.

  • There is also an earlier Gene Pitney recording of this song, which is probably the original version.Difficult to find, but I think it is in an album called "World Wide Winners".

  • sevket uğurluer has a decent version.. still Helen's is much better imo. :)

  • i think sevket uğurluer is better

  • I really don't think you can compare the two versions.Helen was only a sixteen year old kid, and it was about 46 years ago.

  • @alnerry NEVER¡

  • sevket ugurluer- not responsible... unbelievable

  • please listen "sevket ugurluer -not responsible" on youtube... its unbelievable...

  • This song was a huge hit in Turkey during the early 60's.Great to hear it again after so many years. What a voice! Thanks Helen.Still gives me goosebumps.

  • listen it from "şevket uğurluer - not responsible" it exists on youtube.
