I just got back from southport today. I was hoping I might recognize something from the movie but I haven't seen it in a while. Much has changed in over ten years. I'm watching the movie now and comparing it to this footage. I did see the fishy fishy cafe and the building looks similar. In the movie it was brown and didn't have much of a porch but in this footage it's been repainted and everything. I think it's the only place in the movie I went. Unless I went by Julies house and didn't know it.
You're right! I noticed that when I got home and was editing the footage to make this video. I was like "Damn, got the quote wrong!" Haha. Good ear for detail bro, and obviously you're a big fan of the film to pick up on it. Thanks much for watching, too! Later, J.
I just came back today from visiting Burgaw, NC and the department store. The owner and his sons are real nice people. It was fun re-living those awesome scenes from the movie. Unfortunately the hand elevator was loaded up, but they let me go upstairs to take pictures of the room at the top. I'm leaving tommorow to Western PA to see where they filmed many of the scenes from My Bloody Valentine 3D. I'm going to stay at the motel with the heart tubs where they filmed part of the movie. Thanks J.
Sweet! Glad to be able to help. I know it was like stepping into the movie because nothing has changed. Have fun in PA. Watch out for Harry Warden. haha. Let me know how it goes. Peace, J.
i was talking to this girl and she said that she worked in a studio in 23 wiliamston nc and she said the chase scene was filmed there. the town square
Please if you ever talk to her again give her my youtube channel and tell her to visit me and please leave a comment so I can contact her back. I'd love to chat about the film for a sec. Thanks much for the info. So, the scene was filmed in Wilmington, huh? At a studio or on location? I'll go down there next week if it's on location in Wilmington, NC? Good looking out, write back. J.
I just finished watching IKWYDLS with director's commentary. He said that the department store really exsists and he had to film it because he liked the hand pulled elevator, but he didn't say if it was in Southport or not.The same goes for the location of Missy Egan's house.Kinda disappointing, but the locations you did film is well worth the trip to there to see. Thanks
Yeah. I asked every two story store owner if they had any type of old elevator in their stores and each said no. Now, Missy's house was filmed kinda near there (within 30 miles), I was told, in one of the next counties over, out in the country. I tried to locate it about 7 years ago but, it started to rain hard and I gave up. I wouldn't have found it anyway, I'm sure. No clues are given to it's actual location. I was just hoping to get lucky. Man, I bet you're gonna have a lot of fun. Later, J.
Thanks for your reply.I was also wandering if that beach party scene after the beauty pagent where Barry and Max first scuffle was filmed in Southport or in Cali. Thanks for your info.Your vids are top rate.
That scene was filmed down there in Southport but, I never attempted to really find it. I had a tip on where it was filmed but now I've forgotten. I'm sure it's not, in real life, what it appears to be in the film. Not a Beach Music Club. Could be a "crab shack" or something. Go to the visitor center downtown and speak to the reps on hand. Some know more than others. I've spoke to many townsfolk and officials in the town about the locations and it is hard to get info on that film. Good luck. J.
This is a useful vid.I'm traveling to Southport next week and I'm a big I Know What You Did Fan.I got on Youtube to see if there might be any such vid for this and I was pleasantly suprised.Too bad you couldn't find the Shiver's department store. You would think that the store was also filmed in Southport because it looked like a small town department store in the movie.I hope the fishhouse pier is still standing. Thanks for your posting and you seem like a really nice guy. You've been a big help.
Great. Glad you enjoyed my vid. Shiver's isn't in Southport. Notice the large glass front to the store. Also, there are only a couple two story department stores in town and I spoke with the owners and no such luck. Also, the town square the fisherman is chasing Helen across, before she runs to Shiver's isn't in Southport. There IS a small town square in Southport but not the same one. The old fish house Ray worked at is at the end of the strip (blocked off), near new condos. Have fun! Later, J.
Ive lived in southport my whole life, and its a shame that things are changing. The store that was used in the movie is in southport, its on More Street.
This is fucking awesome. One of my fav movies, and I live in NC and plan on making a visit to Southport sometime soon!! I can't wait to take some pics and video myself!
Great. I'm glad you liked the vid and hope it helped out for your visit to Southport. Have fun, but keep your eyes out for Ben Willis. If you see someone in an old, dark, fisherman's slicker...RUN! or get hooked. Later, J.
I don't have the slightest idea where it was filmed at. I spent almost an entire afternoon trying to find it. I interviewed every store owner in town and showed them the store "freeze framed" on the DVD and no one could identify where it was filmed. It wasn't in Southport, NC. Maybe a neighboring town(?) or even in Calf. where many of the road scenes were shot? I want to find this store very bad. I heard a rumor, it has been torn down. That came from a town official. Thanks for viewing. Peace, J
Your SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO f**kin' lucky to live in America, you dont know how lucky u are being able to visit such location like this, we aint got [[shit]] here in Ireland, think I'll have to emigrate?
Haha. That's great man. Hell yeah, come on over bro. I have another film site filmed(Blair Witch Project) and I'll get it up in August. Not as cool as this one though, IMO. Glad you liked the vid. Later, J.
Well, I tried to give all the info I knew. But, If you have a specific question about any location I'll tell you what I know. If anything. Sorry. Later, J.
I Know What You Did Last Summer is definitely a guilty pleasure for me. I saw it in theaters when I was eight years old, and it's the one that got me most interested in the genre.
Great, love to hear it. Well, I saw it in the theaters when I was closer to 28, and still loved it. Actually, at the time, I thought it was OK, at best. I've grown to love it more and more since. I love the score and the soundtrack is kick a**. For a little slasher film made in NC it features some BIG stars! Jennifer, Sarah, Ryan & Freddie. Come on. That is as awesome as it gets. Can't ask for more. Great writing as far as the script goes and the dialog, too. Thanks for checking it out. Later, J
Same alley used for both scenes with Helen Shivers. "Shivers" the store, however, is not in Southport. When Helen comes running across that "town square" to get away from The Fisherman, and runs across the street to the Shivers store. I have no idea where that was filmed, as I've tried very hard to find it. It is NOT in Southport. For sure. That chase seen to me was an homage to Halloween, where Laurie is running from The Shape and banging on the door for Tommy to throw her the keys. Later, J.
Thanks. I wish I could keep 'em coming. Visiting filming locations is fun! I do have another film site already filmed and ready to go. I'm just waiting a while to upload it, to give the I KNOW... video some play. See, I went on a "witch hunt" of sorts in Burkittsville over the weekend and took my handheld with me. I hope I didn't bring "her" back with me, from the woods? We'll see. Later, J.
I love that movie. Admittedly it is one of the new-wave of horror films from the 90's that ressurrected horror (along with Scream, Urban Legend, Blair Witch, etc.). But, I say "thank you" to the film for that. It has helped to cause a flood of horror films to hit the theaters and video stores ever since and I don't see any let up in the future. I Know... was a major part of that. I understand you have your opinion on it though, and that's OK by me. Thanks for checking out my vid. Peace, J.
Kevin Williamson was the man that made me want to do movies, I was a teenager back then and loved these movies.
But since I've gotten older I've strayed away from teen slashers more and more, I don't even watch horror movies that often anymore, even though it was horror that made me want to do my own movies.
Keep on making videos like these, and I'll keep watching them :)
Great comment. Thanks for the insight. I only watch I Know... around the 4th of July, myself. It is the premier 4th of July horror film. I got another film location video coming soon. It will be up before too long, probably at the beginning of August. Peace, J.

So I guess that alley way at the end of this film is where Sarah Michelle Gellar tried to escape the Fisherman? Great footage.
Actually her scene was the most suspenseful part of the movie. The rest was kind of EH.
