I believe that blueshadowes may have misunderstood the whole process. The local paper was asked not to run any stories or promote the issue so they rightly restricted their coverage to the one photo a day to minimise the risk to Nigel. Also There are protocols that the government has to follow and paying ransom is not one of them. It is not as simple as it seems. I wish Nigel all the best and am glad it worked out. Yes I do live in Bundy and no I am not employed by the news-mail.
If there had been an effort in Bundaberg to raise money, maybe Nigel would have been released sooner. The media let him down. There should have been media assisted fundraisers. Instead, there was a daily a photo of him in the local paper counting his days in captivity. Now he is released, he is big news again. All they care about is ratings. The Aust Gov and the media should have paid the ransom and then forbidden any media to travel to that area. Cheers Nigel. Write a book and make heaps.
It's so good to know that Nigel is home. He is a great person and deserves peace and privacy to get back on his feet. Don't forget that it is people like him who show us what is really happening in the world.
