(Part2)The professors had, in fact, made the colonel second in authority at the refugee camp. The officers, who had doffed their uniforms during the Chinese retreat from Nanking, were discovered living in one of the college buildings: They confessed their identity after Japanese Army searchers found they had hidden six rifles, five revolvers, a dismounted machine gun and ammunition in the building.
I salute you as you have honoured those Commonwealth soldiers who died fighting for the lost cause of the Battle of Hong Kong. Few contemporary Hong Kong people remembered this part of the history.
To be honest with you... I really thought that your attempt to make your own production of the attack on Hong Kong was going to suck. But you really proved me wrong, you did everything just about perfectly, and you told an interesting story that I had never known before. excellent work mate. cheers
@paladin12122 (Part1)EX-CHINESE OFFICERS AMONG U.S. REFUGEES Colonel and His Aides Admit Blaming the Japanese for Crimes in Nanking New York Times January 4, 1938
Wireless to the New York Times. SHANGHAI, Jan. 3. American professors remaining at Ginling College in Nanking as foreign members of the Refugee Welfare Committee were seriously embarrassed to discover that they had been harboring a deserted Chinese Army colonel and six of his subordinate officers.
In Kowloon Tong , Hong Kong , is Osborn Barracks which used to be occupied by REME and The Military Police. There is a statue of Osborn. Since 1997 the barracks have been occupied by a motley collection of PLA. They don,t half look smart in their plimsoles !!!!
