That looks like so much fun. I can handle the 40 yds with the chicken, but the rest could be hard. What power scope are you using and what type of rifle is most accurate? I have several Rem. nylon rifles and other types. In IHMSA they shoot them with pistols. How tough is that. Thanks for the video.
@knightingalesaid .... It is a lot of fun. Most people start out with a minimum 9xscope. half of the people that compete regularly have a scope that is about 24x. The other half, like myself, uses 36x - 40x scopes. If you have a rifle already just use what you have to start. CZ rifles are inexpensive and accurate. Anschutz rifles are very expensive and very accurate. Savage makes some relatively inexpensive and accurate rifles too.
eh...i dont know what to say about this. i take soda cans at 150 yards 10 for 10 with my pellet rifle on a rest and i do it 8 out of 10 offhanded, Im going to get a savage 22 lr and see if i can take 22 lr to a 2 liter bottle at 400 yards. I will also be trying my 22 magnum on milk jugs at 600+. tell yah how it goes :)
@azreal289 Sounds like you could be National Champion at Rifle Silhouette. You could probably set some in-a-row records on the silhouette targets that are only 40 meters away! Wow you are good.....
@azrls33881 nah my eyes arent great and I dont think taking those cans iron sights at 40 meters would go well. Plus you have a time limit right? I can take my time, relax, breathe, and wait til the wind is just so, you guys dont have the luxury. I didnt mean to sound uppety btw. I am sure that this would be fun and quite a challenge. I just might look into it. I love to shoot long range and my grand pa always encouraged me to do so. He shot expert in eveything back in the day.
@azreal289 We used to shoot at stuff like bumble bees and cigarette butts on the lake. i never got into the whole break out the altimeter and laser range finder thing. Maybe I will once I get the cash but for me using mils and a calcuator is about as tool oriented as my practice has been. Any chance I can use my pellet rifle? I have 10k pellets through it so far and she and I know each other real well :)
@azreal289 We use scopes on all targets and no altimeters or anything fancy. We know our sight settings prior to the match and adjust the scope elevations for each of the 4 different distances when we get there. We judge the wind by guestamation and adjust the windage as we think is required on-the-fly while we are shooting. you have about 30 seconds for each shot or, beyond the limit you would want to hold your breath for a shot anyway. If you are that good, you should try it.
@TheTedrogers I take it you haven't shot offhand at a Rifle Silhouette match. How can you compare to something you have not done? Try Rifle Silhouette before comparing it with shooting quarters from a rest. From a rest the rifle quality is more important. In Rifle Silhouette the abilities of the shooter is more important. It is a different story when your pulse is in your throat and your trying to hold on target while shooting standing up without even a sling for support.
my dad and brother shot smallbore silhouette for years...they hit way more than they miss...when they shoot at camp perry for big bore matches they clean house on the offhand strings...practice practice practice is what it's all about...I daresay that anyone who is a good silhouette shooter will be good in any position as it is the most difficult position to master.

@TheTedrogers Still screwey for determining the actual skill. Shoot offhand without any support and you will miss most of the time!
