  • I dont have the bit at the botom which you clicked to mirror how do i mirror

  • @jazaazma You might want to take a look at my newer videos done in the later versions of Blender. I suggest you look my video titled "Blender 2.58/2.59 Fedora Hat Modeling Tutorial", that should show you where the mirror modifier is.

  • @weeliano Thanx for the fast reply

  • /photo.php?fbid=276330385763868&set=a.121268371270071.18112.120708527992722&type=1&theater

  • What do you do if it pinches when you wrap it? Mine pinched and I cant figure out how to fix it

  • @OnClicked You mean unwrap it for UV unwrap? I have another video showing you step by step how to do it. Or maybe you mean something else?

  • @weeliano At about 7:50, when you press CTRL+, it smoothed yours. When I did that, mine pinched at the nose, cockpit, and tailfin. So there's dips in those spots.

  • @OnClicked Did you turn on "Clipping"on your mirror modifier? Also you can try to add a Subdivision modifier in the Modifiers tab on the properties window, usually on the right. I am assuming you are using the latest Blender 2.6 and above.

  • WOW! thanks.... you help me a lot...

  • @aarrmmeenndd100 Yes, it is free and open source. Just Google search for Blender download.

  • @aarrmmeenndd100 It takes some time to learn, but if you have good learning materials and a project to work on, it should be quite easy to learn. It just takes a lot of time and practice. For a start I suggest you Google "Neal Hirsig Blender tutorials" and follow those first. You can also visit blendercookie website and learn from there.

  • @aarrmmeenndd100 I used the older version of Blender for this model. Blender 2.49b. The current version is 2.6 and has a much different user interface but most of the shortcuts are still the same.

  • what the gay??!?!?!?- i hat old blender 2.49 set up

  • I need someone to please make me a design >D for 3D printing. If someone want to help me send a message.

  • @weeliano In Blender 2.59 when I try to access "User Preferences" blender crashes and says "Blender has stopped working" can you help?

  • @SamWazamTV Hi, try this, on the lower left corner of each viewport, you can can change the function. Go to the extreme lower left of the header menu of the timeline viewport window. Click on the icon and a menu will pop out, change it to the User Preferences and change your settings there. The problem you described is quite common and it seems to be affecting computers with Intel Graphics hardware.

  • @weeliano so sorry but can you be a little bit more detailed? I'm a noob in blender :(

  • @SamWazamTV You might want to check out my video on vimeo 27153180 or search for "Blender 2.5x Introduction" in Vimeo.

  • @weeliano I sent you a friend request because you helped me! :D I will send you a awesome model

  • Thanks for this video, I made a convincing jet and this is my second ever model in blender! (I've been using it for about 2 days).

I used to use Bryce when I was a kid, makes me appreciate how amazing this program is, this must be the best freeware program to ever come out. If the program wasn't good enough the community is even more amazing.

  • @wcoltdrediff Hey Great to know you are finding my videos useful. Do check out the other Blender video tutorials I made. Blender is far more capable than anyone thinks, and especially for an open source software. Hope you will continue to create more 3D works with it! Cheers!

  • I followed up until about 4:00 I had trouble with the tail section, when I tried to extrude it made 2 tails (because the two surfaces were facing away from each other. How do I normalize the surface with the ground?

  • @wcoltdrediff In your mirror modifier, make sure you turn on Do clipping. Also make sure there are enough faces to pull out. Note the direction of the face you are pulling from. Check that you are set to Global axis when manipulating the sub-objects.

  • @weeliano I think I solved the problem, I forgot to hit z when extruding. (*doh)

I am using 2.58 (the new version) I think Do clipping is equivalent to the copy button. (where is do clipping in 2.58?)

Another related problem was when I tried to do 3:11 the scaling before the inward extrusion, what happened was my plane created another shape in the middle - as if the two sides of the plane were two different parts, it's not united like yours is. (maybe that's what "do clipping" does)

  • This looks alot like an MIG 17, one of my favorite Battlefield Vietnam Jets cuz of all the bombs.

  • wat difference is der b/w d versions???????????

  • @Sumanth575 you mean between 2.5 and 2.49? There are some short cut differences and the interface of 2.5 is more polished, but the common shortcuts are still the same.

  • @weeliano ohh.... fine... thank u.....

  • In the beginning there was cube...

  • What blender version is this? Please tell me!

  • @MrDillon66 This is version 2.49 with Kernon Dillon's custom skin user interface. Kernon is the admin of Blendernewbies . Just google for it.

  • @weeliano I had found a link but it downloaded as Blender 2.5, is this the one?

  • @weeliano I downloaded Blender 2.5 and where it says preset, I clicked it and it had Blender (default) and then it had Maya. What does it mean?

  • @MrDillon66 That's the latest version Blender, the maya preset is for Maya users used to Maya shortcuts. Google Blender 2.49 download and you should be able to download the older version of Blender which I'm using for the video demonstration.

  • great video

If only I had a basic understanding of blender, or at least an idea of how to get there...

  • Wow! I don't get it. at about 5:58 you push in the aft facing face of the fuselage, but at 6:00 all of a sudden there are 3 extra faces on the edge of these aft facing faces allowing you to push in the faces and leave a "thick boarder". I have watched it over and over again and you don't seem to make loop cuts or do anything else that might produce these new faces they just appear. I would love to understand this.

  • @GengoNoTabi Hi, what I did was very simple. After selecting the AFT faces, I pressed E to extrude, and you can see the faces move as every time you extrude, it defaults to move. I right mouse click once to cancel the move and the faces snapped back, with the faces still selected, I pressed S to scale them down a little, then I press E again to extrude inwards. In the Mirror Modifier, Do clipping is turned on.

Hope you get my explanation, cheers!

  • @weeliano Thanks for the reply. I'll try that tonight.

  • Nice, this plane reminds me of early french jets. I'm trying to learn blender because I want to make a game with aircraft.

  • @KapiteinKrentebol You should check out "militarymeshes . com", lots of great examples there.

  • i learnt so much just by watching this video!

more than most vids WITH dialogue :p

If only there were more vids like this...

  • @UB3Rtacos Thank you for your support! Do let me know if you want me to speed model any subject.

  • I love how in these jets you're basically strapped onto the top of a veritable bomb that spews out fire after combusting fossil fuels under your ass with more or less a few inches of steel maybe some insulation and wiring and stuff, then you have the fuel all around you in the wings and or chassis. Takes balls to fly. I want to do it.

  • i wonder if i should've learned blender instead of 3dsmax. it's open source right?

because it pretty much feels the same as far as modeling go at least.

  • @GraveUypo Trust me, go Blender all the way. It is free and open source. I used 3dsMax and Maya before and the speed you can model with the mesh modeling and subdivision tools is phenomenal! I can definitely model faster in Blender than compared to 3dsmax or Maya.

  • @weeliano yeah i'll put some serious tought into that. i really like to use open source software whenever i get the chance.

  • @GraveUypo i meant thought, not tought. damnit :(

  • @weeliano The music sounds like something that would be in Sim City4. Nice modeling, he saw there was nothing, so he divided thou cube and makeith creation.

  • @weeliano I am going to make a video response to this if I make a good one may not be as I work on it though. I'm not that good yet with windows movie maker and such. But I will put out something, tell me what you think of my little fluid sims and my mug lol.

  • @weeliano I hate 3ds max, the interface is absolutely horrible.

  • Thank you. Nice tutorial.

  • You're a really great teacher. Most just fast forward hoping to do it right away, but you took the time to show in length how to do the process and the proper keystrokes.

If my pc wasn't sick, I'd be using this vid as a reference to try it out ^_^

  • @Jadandlud Thank you for your kind compliments, do check out my other Blender videos! Cheers!

  • Well, one things to say, this is better skill than I'll ever have...

  • @TiberSeptimz With interest and lots of practice, you can do exactly the same thing. I didn't know how to do this when I was just starting out myself, so I believe anyone can do it if they keep at it, including you! :-)

  • GREAT TUTORIAL!!! thabk u very much!

  • @Bluesbrothe Glad you liked it! Thanks!

  • Thanks to this video I noticed how similar it's to work on Maya as in Blender, thanks!

  • @RAYXNUM1 Yes the principles of polygonal sub surf modeling is pretty much the same in all 3D packages.

  • Are you singaporean?

  • @5RU22

    Yes I am.

  • Hi! Its very simple really, its because I only selected one face and that face is already aligned to the ZX plane, however, if you do want to scale in restricted planes, the short cuts are these.

To scale in ZX plane, Press S followed by SHIFT+ Y to restrict in the ZX plane, to restrict in XY plane, press S, then followed by SHIFT + Z, I'm sure you can figure the other one out.

To Scale restricted in ZX planes using the Scale Manipulator, hold down shift and click drag the Y handle(green box)

  • Cool. I have question: at 1:30 you scale by "s". But why this scaling is "aligned" to XZ plane? I'm trying to repeat this operation. Scaling polygon is "detaching" from XZ...

  • Thank you :)

  • Oh & may our Heavenly Father & Jesus Bless you.

    I subscribed

  • @TheAutumnExpresso Thank you for your kind blessings!

  • This is awsome!

  • Hi, im wondering about something. Im a young film maker, ive been working with many programs over the years, and although im only a freshman in high school, ive gotten into compositing, and other special effects. ive gotten to the point where i can think of something to do in AE, and do it w.o outside help. but now my one weakness has always been 3d programs, so im starting to use blender, and i was wondering if there was any tips on my introduction to the program. thanks

  • @narutokiller9 Sure! Just be really passionate and interested in what you want to learn and stay focused. Learning a 3D application be it Blender, Maya or 3dsMax requires lots of practice and patience as they all have very steep learning curves. Start slowly by learning the foundations first. Model simple objects in the beginning and slowly progress to harder stuff. It will take about 3 months with a minimum of 15 minutes each day to get proficient. Ask and you will receive.

  • @narutokiller9 When Your modeling as you probably know, always always always unless you have a good reason use mirror =). Stay away from triangles, those can get confusing and you pretty much have everythign else covered! Oh and I would play around with the different features such as the subsurf and the Game Engine

  • Man this is the first time that I really see a good video of modeling.

Show the hot key it's a good way to know the tools. Thanks.

  • @Hammerh5 Thanks! Do check out my other Blender tutorial videos, I think you may find them useful!

    Cheers!

    Weelian

  • can u make it slower

  • 0.0 jesus!, this low poly model kicks the shit out of my 2 hour project ive been working on XD

  • I keep trying to catch how you go from square to round. when you smooth the surface to actually make the plane aerodynamic

  • @SHines01 He used a Subsurf in the modifiers tab but it more than doubles the amount of poly's.

  • @SHines01

    He uses the Subsurf modifier.

  • thanks for this video its very helpful.... its nice that we're able to see the keys you press cuz it saves a lot of talking and time

  • isnt that a korean MIG 16?

  • @MrJmandude It's inspired by the Soviet Mig 15 and Mig 17 designs.

  • Amazing video. I'm trying to model some airplanes in blender myself; only trouble is that I'm quite new to the program. To see you do this so quickly is inspiring and I did pick up a few techniques from your video.

  • @RocketBird120 I'm glad it has helped you! Thanks for watching!

  • at 3:29, same song as what is played on "tai chi" workout vid XD

  • This is so cool

  • NIce work. I would appreciate to know the name of the music, thanks you !

  • @0xoxol0

Apologies, I don't remember the name of the track, I used the Audio Swap feature where I chose the music the matched the length of my video. It's either the Easy Listening or World music categories. Just find the bit that matches 9min 16 seconds.

  • @weeliano

    No need to apologize :)

Just googled Easy Listening, I had no idea about a category with such name. Likewise for World. The haystack I knew of.. :P

    Thanks for the reply!

  • Thanks for the video. I learn something new every day and with this video, I learned how to better manipulate a model by refining the subsurf using additional verts...nice!

  • hey friend how the key stroke

  • cool tune, nice model..

  • Sweet looking jet fighter.

    Subbed friended. Blenderheads unite!

  • Hey Thanks!

Do keep on learning Blender, be patient and keep at it. Find a subject you like to model and work on it.

  • can you next time talk please?

  • @neilrulz

You can watch my other video "Blender Simple Airplane Modeling Tutorial" part 1 and 2, there's dialogue there. Cheers!

  • awesome

  • wow this is so pro

  • dude I just downloaded this program last night and I've been watching videos on YouTube on how to make stuff. This is an awesome tutorial. I wish I knew how to do that!

  • You can! Just get started and don't worry about the rest. Most students or blender or other 3D software give themselves too much pressure when they see completed works done by other people with years of experience. Learn at your own pace, and eventually you will become just as good or even better than me. Just don't give up!

  • yeah I keep watching tutorials on youtube with voice overs and no voice overs and everything they explain I can't do, I can't even see how they are doing the stuff they do!

  • THE BEST BLENDER TUTORIAL I EVER SEEN!!! MAN!!! Noone knows how Hotkey OSD needed for blender tutorials! U r genious!!

  • Thanks for your kind compliments! I'm no genius and you can be just as good or even better than me. You just have to be patient, find a subject you like to model and keep working on it and enjoy modeling with blender.

  • I could never do that, I am struggling just to make the conor of a room with a dome camera

  • NEVER underestimate your own abilities my friend. Be patient and take small steps, you can learn anything you are passionate about. Just keep your mind focused at the final result and keep working on it. You can do it!

  • did it take years to learn how to do this

  • thanks i needed that for my game thank you

  • You're most welcome!

  • Thanks for your compliment! I'm not that good at Blender really, you just need to be really interested and keep using Blender. Anyone can be just as good!

  • where did u get this program

  • You can Google Blender3D and download the program for free

  • can u message me the link please? thank u

  • Very Nice and Useful thanks! ;-)

  • are you a teacher for like game designing?

  • I don't teach game design, but my colleague do. But the skills my students learn can be applied to the games industry.

  • awesome

im going to watch your tutorial next :)

  • you have no idea how useful this is :D

    great vid!

  • Heh heh, thanks! Yes it's rather useful isn't it? I'm using the same techniques to teach my students in Maya.

  • cool
