I have nothing to do with 20th century boys; japanese have more imagination than that, they don't copy themselves or foreign countries to make film like Hollywood does...
First of all, 20th century boys is a superb manga made by an ingenious writer.
And second, what you said doesn't make foreign countries any better at making movies.
America still reigns supreme when it comes to film making and anyone that says otherwise is lying to themselves. They have more good movies than s*** movies, you just have to find them.
Right, it isn't what I say that make foreign countries better at making movies, they do better movies because they have more love for cinema than the Hollywood productors that are only interested to make money, even if that mean to do shitty movies, and they do a lot of crap...
America reign supreme when it comes to bet money on movies, that's all; 20 years ago and + they didn't have the technical means for their ideas, today they don't have the ideas for their technical means.
To believe America make the best movies in the world, is to be ignorant, arrogant, or both.
These last years they don't do much new stuff besides their crappy remakes, bad adaptations, or many shitty sequels, prequels, "reboot", "reinvention" and all the other words they use to avoid the word remake...
@Ecorce02 I might agree with you if you're really a movie buff who knows every movies released by America. I know a bunch of good movies, they might be not popular, you just have to find them you know.
Some American indie films over the past decade were good, they're not very well known though. Good movies are made everywhere, and so are bad. Even mainstream Japanese films suck pretty bad lol
Of course Japan do bad movies too, but they make true gems and almost no remakes at all; U.S.A make WAY too many remakes, not to mention most of them suck big time; late 90's and before Hollywood have great ideas but few technological means, today they have a wonderful technology but very few good ideas (not to mention the crappy directors...)
"facepalm" dude you're missing the point here!! USA has made ORIGINAL movies that are NOT Hollywood. Yes, Hollywood sucks, and it does dominate the market BUT that does not mean that the USA has NO movies of good value whatsoever to offer.
From what I understand by your comment, you're saying that the US hasn't made anything original since the 90s. Yes, that is true for Hollywood, not all films are made in Hollywood, if you think so then you're ignorant on the matter.

"facepalm" Of course I was talking about most Hollywood crap factory, "dude", not independant movies and other true creators.
I clearly said Hollywood when talked about ideas and remakes...

@Ecorce02 This is true, however, let's not tear American film making down.
Admittedly, Fish Story is an awesome part of film making that continues to inspire me to pursue my goals in screen writing. Great piece of film.
