Wunderbar! i heard this little outfit sing their hearts out in beautiful east dunbartonshire, Scotlands own mini bavaria! And they were fab. So much in common, sausage, beer and song. Gros Gott!
Thanks for the text! I love this song! They have it sung in the concert that I saw at Christmas in Bad Tölz: a pretty nice experience! I was moved when I saw them live and I cried...!
A dream-like, visionary tale of shepherd-boys/goatherds who see a miraculous light. They believe it to be a comet and follow it in fear. The sky opens up .. they are drawn in and see Jesus in his crib. They have nothing to give him except to play with their pipes and sing. A mystical song, beautifully sung. The two soloists are fantastic. Anyone know them ?
Wer weiss, wie die Solisten heissen ? Ausgezeichnet.
I mean the one that you can find in youtube as "Bastien bastienne" , with Jean Baptiste Maunier... I dunno if it's a translation... But I was wondering if you had the lyrics... could you take a look??

The title is: "Geht's Baum, steht's geschwind auf"...But I'm not to familiar with bavarian dialect, so can't translate it...It's a traditional bavarian christmas song, but not that well known outside of Bavariaat least not were I live...
Not so frequently, but a few times every year.Unfortunately, mostly in folk music broadcasts (I prefer classical music). At christmas they have to share screen time with all the other famous boys choirs in Germany...
The boy on the left is Markus Althanns. He is very, very good.
As usual, the conducting by Ralf Ludewig is simply perfect.
