hahahahaha funny you shud say that cause thats why i got rid of the album ulla scare the shit out of me specially when played in the dark but i now have tickets for the live show
I saw this in Nottingham, it was outstanding, I think it was the best performance I have seen yet. Loved it, Should not have bothered with the private box, we were in the stalls, great view, great show.
Glad you enjoyed it, yeah stalls or first tier are best, where I was (rear first tier just as it curved to the left, half way up, gave me a good full spectrum of the props and CGI screen.
£235 for a private box and a good vision of the Stadium in Nottingham was hugely disappointing. It all looked so gimicky and the music if it were left as per the soundtrack would have had more effect. This production was a cacophony of noise and a poor show. HG Wells created a fascinating story made more dynamically real by the amazing voice of Richard Burton. This show should have been a dazzling performance. I could have certainly found better ways of spending £235
I'm sorry you didn;t enjoy it, you should not compare it to teh album, to play it live is not easy to get it nite for note. Thea cousitcs in a large arena is different dependant on where you sit and this is also in 5.1 surround. the show was a dazzling performance (well the one I went to) The seats in front of the boxes at the Ice arena aren't really that good to be honest. pay £30 for a seat in the stalls or on the first tiers which is much better.
Serves you right for having more money than damn sense anyway.Stop whining you sad sad person. If you could 'spend' 235 you can AFFORD 235 - get over it!
i agree with benovls12 this used to scare me loads when i was a kid! now im 19 and love it! :-) i missed out on tickets for the 02 arena show! but hey i saw the foo fighters there so all good:D
saw it in sheffield, totaly amazing. mind boggoling. i only bought tickets after seeing their epac from the epacstore . com - the leads have voices to blow your mind!!
Im Going to see it tonight at sheffield cant wait, its going to be fantastic. i was terified as a kid by this im goin to leave the arena shaking like a s******g dog. write back
yep, i'm taking my dad to see it for christmas. can't wait!! this musical used to scare the hell out of me when i was little-the noise the martians make.......woo!!!!;)
Thanks for putting this on. I went to the AUCKLAND show @ the VECTOR ARENA last night, and it blew me away. I was sitting second level up to the left close to the stage so i got some good pics but and 2 vids with my cell ph. pity i did'nt have a - NOKIA N93. The - CANON XLH1 would not have slipped passed security.
Its a 3m pixel still digital camera, running at 640x480 resolution at 15 frames per second. For what it is it has done well, anything bigger I wouldn't be able to hide properly.
The show has developed a lot since this! Richard Burtons head is completely 3D not projected onto the foam structure like this one. He also interacts more with the cast looking down and around very life like.
im going to see this 9th december at manchester evening news it my second time and i cant wait it is worth every penny i have listening to this album since 1979 and i never tire of it
i have been listening to this since i was 4. Ive gone though 8 cassette albums, 3cd albums. Now i have it on my MP3 disc in the car. This will never get old. No one will ever get close to topping this masterpiece!!
Have recently rediscovered this masterpiece. I remember laying in the dark listening to it when I was about 6 years old and the music scared the crap outta me. (I didn't understand english back then) Me and a mate took some acid and listened to the whole thing in a dark room the other weekend and are goin to the show in September
Rock opra in its purest form.I bought this album in 78 in England, when i got back to America found the album no good as bloke records spin counter clockwise.
bought tickets for the Brisbane show in september!!,...cant wait!!.....even got my kids listening to the L.P.....which is a miricle considering its not on a DVD or playstation!
Yeah it used to scare me as a kid, I watched the new Movie in Cleethorpes (on the coast), it was foggy, we got out of teh cinema and a big containership blew its fog horn, just sounded like a martian, we looked qaround in panic before being embarrased realising what it was!!
Thank you all for your posts, I hgope you enjoy the show. I am happy to say I was present on the historic first tour and will savior those memories for life. I hope when you see the new show you do the same.
Good on ya, you'll be ncie and clsoe to the band and singer and Tripod!!! Get the DVD though because it is also different from near the rear as you get a better vuiew of the CGI and tripod from a distance.
Hope it's going to be good. Got our tickets already.

Looks brilliant. Was the martian tripod footage specially made for the show or is it from some film/cartoon of past?
sherman4970 4 years ago
Specially made. They wanted to go with a cartoony effect to juxtapose the modern and turn of the century influences
