  • fantastic work, keep it up!

  • thank God for organizations like the Humane society who try everyday to make a change in animals lives.

  • Oh my god, this made me cry looking at all of the cats meowing, wanting someone to love them. I cannot express how great my love is for the HSUS. ALl of you are truly amazing, you are angels on Earth. Possum is such a cute kitty, he deserved a second chance at life, like all of the other cats, and you were there to provide them that chance. God Bless all of you c:

  • 2 months ago I adopted a kitten which was found between 2 rocks; dehydrated, and starving to death. She also had her eyes shut, and almost did not make it due to her condition. She was unable to receive any meds cause she was dying. Somehow she recovered but lost one eye, she is my best friend for life.. ADOPT!!!!!

  • GREAT WORK!!!

  • I love him.

  • not sure if i should thumbs up or down.

  • Of course humans have a role in nature, happyhippie....What a foolish thing to say! If only we abided by nature's laws instead of trying to change/alter/pollute everything we would be in harmony with nature. But have no doubt, we fit: we are a primate.

  • This is so sad. I wanna kill people that abuse animals like this. I love the Humane Society, there realy heroes.

  • Humans HAVE "NO" ROLE IN NATURE IF ALL HUMANS WOULD DIE OFF THE WORLD WOULD GET BETTER THE AIR WOULD GET CLEANER THE WATER WOULD GET CLEANER THE LAND WOULD GET GREENER ON THAT NOTE "IT IS OUR JOB AS HUMANS TO TAKE CARE OF MOTHERS NATURES EARTH NOT TO DESTROY IT." =^..^=

  • Thank you HSUS, Human Society of Alachua County and the UF College of Veterinary medicine for all your hard work with these cats (and anyone else I might have left out). They all gave these cats the best treatment under the circumstance and are not using this unfortunate animals condition for a profit. My Haven Acres cat Cleo is scarred for life, physically and mentally but she's still a very sweet cat and I'm glad we adopted her.

  • I am 99% positive that the little silver tabby next to Possum in the video is our kitty Cleo. We adopted her from the HSUS adopt-a-thon for the cats rescued from Haven Acres in Alachua County. I can assure you that the HSUS found homes for hundreds of these cats, including cats with Feline AIDS and leukemia. About 300 were put in forever homes from the adopt-a-thon that weekend and the rest were placed in the weeks after that. Only 60 cats were put to sleep because they extremely poor shape.

  • @aminalala What's wrong with you? I had a cat that lost her vision at 17 years old (detached retinas from undetected high blood pressure) and she lived for 3 more years very happily!

There are 'no-kill shelters' with hundreds of cats in basements... in tiny cages... dark rooms... for the rest of their lives.

I had 10 cats at one point. All lived to be over 16 years. If I had to choose between having mine humanely euthanized or sit in cages for their lives, I'd choose euthanasia.

  • I wrote the formal report for the puppymill in Bakersfield Vermont. Animals are my life, when I decide on a careere it will be one for the benefit of animals. I am so glad there is the hsus, and the people who rescue these animals out there saving lives.

  • and to all those haters, where do you suppose all those cats went? you think all 700 are alive now? sorry, but id rather be in poor health, but alive, than dead. its too bad people like ashley would rather murder them all. where does she think meat comes from? and cheese? also, dont any of you know how quickly eyes like that can happen? a week. fine today, a week they are infected and crusted shut. ive seen it many times. doesnt hsus know that? oh yea, they dont care. they want your MONEY.

  • @aminalala Your crazy to say an animal should live and suffer when it can be put out of its misery. Because your so afraid of death that you'd cling to life even when its a misery, that doesnt mean you have any right to say that these animals should live and suffer or that people who do damn hard jobs saving these animals want your money (which you dont even donate) Just shut up.

  • the vet was not hopeful. but a week later the eye was smooth and, tho blind, it was not 'unhealthy'. the entire vet office came in to see her. they couldnt believe it was the same cat. now that office looks at eye ailments much differently. i wish possum had gotten better treatment and didnt have to lose his eyes.

the hsus is using him for profit now. maybe that is why they didnt give his eyes a chance? hes much more pathetic with out them! bet this got them loads of money!

  • @aminalala Using him for profit?. By rescuing him from abuse, careing for him, and giving him a new home. Your absolutely insane or mentally challenged. LOOOOL

  • this ashley chick needs to go visit a factory farm if she wants to see suffering. these cats look mostly fine to me. and possum appears to have feline herpes which has attacked his eyes. ALL of our cats have that. they are all strays that we have taken in. NONE of them needed eye removal. one kitten i took to the vet suggested eye removal or euthanasia, but i refused and asked for some kind of treatment. she sent us home with ointment and amoxidrops. Niwas eye was so bad that it was ulcering and

  • @aminalala If those cats look ''Fine'' to you I wouldn't wanna see the inside of your home..

  • Wow, this is so impressing! Your work is so important, vital and great! Please never stop rescuing animals! :-)

  • Possum is a perfect name for him! Thank you for sharing his story and showing him to us now - a healthy, happy boy. Good Job!

  • God bless all of those kitties. I love you Possum : )

  • Awww I'm so happy for him! Like my Mom said they are closer to god than we are. {:')

  • So proud of the HSUS, and happy to be one of its supporters. Possum is a special cat .... heck, EVERY neglected or abused animal is special and deserves to be rescued.

  • thank you for all you do--and hurrah for Possum..blind but LOVED!

  • :') happy and sad tears lol it makes me so mad people can be this cruel and neglectful!

  • This was in Alachua County, FL. I am proud to say that I assisted in this rescue effort. The HSUS did an amazing job in assisting our Animal Service Agency.

  • look how beautiful he is now..

  • Aw....

  • Possum is handsome. I just hope all the other cats are ok and they are in a place where they get love and attention too.

  • soo glad you saved them x

  • YOU ARE SUPER HEROES , THE BEST I LOVE YOU

  • Amazing. Glory to God!

  • Hoarding is a most serious problem ; unfortunately , here in Brazil the authorities are not that aware about its dreadful consequences for the humans and non humans alike. And many think that that only up to a certain number it can be considered hoarding but actually,as long as the pets kept are not being properly cared for ( ie the animals don´t get the needed treatment and attention ,with due cleansiness and higiene ), it´s already unhealthy, sick behavior.

  • Why do they have so many cats? ya i know its a stupid question

  • thank you humane society. for all you do

  • So cute and sad at the same time :(

  • THUMBS UP FOR THE HSUS

  • keep up the great work, you make the earth a bedder place for these animals!

  • Thank you very much for your good work.

    You make me feel happy.
