  • Great Lift easy lift from the King of Kings. Siiiiiggghhh why does powerlifting and bodybuilding have the Biggest Retards Giant, RonMeijers and gymman62

  • YOU ARE A STUPID FAT FOOL. THAT WAS A TERRIBLE LIFT. YOU LOOK LIKE A FAT SLOB!!

  • @gymman62 ed coan is not fat u kunt of cheek

  • paul anderson >>>>>> all your shitty bodybuilder/powerlifter

  • @angelsfire1 The Creator>>>>> then anything your dumbass can say next... Out to one up everyone on youtube? Asshole.

  • Levrone was doing this on reps I'm sorry to say... However I'm sure Coan could of beaten him on numerous others so it's so so.

  • Levrone wasn't deadlifting 901 and squatting 975 in training. Coan was also under 242 pounds.

  • @Ludichris8531 Clearly you didn't read my comment fully.

  • No I did. And Levrone was good for 3 reps with 500 in training. Coan was able to hit 555 for heavy doubles and triples in training. Coan was close gripping with pauses what Levrone was benching. I like Levrone too, I met him last spring, but his strength couldn't touch Coan's.

  • @Rael7 Lol Levrone did it on a freaking smith machine. Do you know what that it? There's a huge difference. Plus his spotter was doing some of the work. You fail.

  • @gymann62 did you say he is a weaklink? Be very careful what you say because this is the greatest man to ever touch a barbell your talking about.

  • I WILL SAY AGAN, CAPY LIFT. ANYONE WHO SAYS THAT WAS A GOOD LIFT IS FULL OS SHIT AND NO'S NOTHING ABOUT WEIGHTLIFTING. AND THATS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @gymman62 You damn troll. I will kill you for this comment!

  • HAHAHAHA, you realize this is a very good lift and it was performed by the greatest powerlifter of all time. You must be a little bitch.

  • THAT WASN'T A FULL PRESS YOU WEAKLING!!

  • @gymman62 Behind the neck. Please try it yourself, maybe die in the process.

  • Coan was the man.

  • have you seen marius pudz behind the neck? check it out

  • @affy45 meh, pudz power jerked, it's a lot easier then a press

  • GREAT JOB VERY STRONG CHECK OUT HEAVYBOWS 515 BEHIND NECK PRESS HE'S A BEAST T. 

  • i dont even know how that's possible

  • Damn, that was insane, for such poundage! BTW, when behind the neck (shoulder) presses are done, your ROM is supposed to be where you go down to ear level, which he did. Any deeper, and your shoulders would be torn apart... Good job!!

  • it's really a lock out which are used all the time for lifting more than you can in a full movement. ed was probably doing this at the end of his shoulder pressing for extra weight. that's why he didn't go all the way down.

  • I'm loving it! I'm sick of watching guys call there incline bench press a shoulder press. If you're leaning so far back you're pressing the bar up at just a bit more than 45 degrees of your chest, you're doing an incline press.

I want some of these supposed 'all stars' to bring it down behind their head and stop calling their seated incline bench press a world record shoulder press.

  • if you feel you can go lower without injury go for it. if you can't then DON'T do it just because the youtube peanut gallery doesn't like it

i'm pretty sure ed coan who is a famous and accomplished world level powerlifter is not just ego lifting. he knows what he is doing.

  • He didn't go all the way down, but still that is impressive.

  • @khalsasikh your not suppose to

  • its amazing he is still alive.all the red meat and drugs..

  • @5tonyvvvv Just goes to show that you know nothing of physiology, or drugs in general. GO fuck your mother.

  • @tastefulphrasing ok moron..lets see u idots run 2 miles without having a heart attack..lol..keep sticking needles in your ass loser!!!!

  • Half-reps are becoming very, VERY common in weightlifting these days.....

Always go MORE deep than this guy does. He does give a great example on what depth you SHOULDN'T go to. :)

  • @13andincrediblycut are you retarded? thats perfect for shoulder press, any lower and you risk tearing a rotator cuff, ESPECIALLY behind the head. gtfo

  • @pumpmctank No, you must be the retarded one, because full-range is always more beneficial than short-range. I would give you examples but fear you stupidity will restrain you from understanding or paying attention to common sense while it looks you right to your face.

You should read my article I intelligently wrote on full-ROM in forms of exercises, such as shoulder/neck presses/military presses and more. It's located on my channel on my Wordpress site. You NEED to see that article badly.

  • @13andincrediblycut behind the neck? no. that is a shoulder press, coming down to your chest is a military press, which from a performance standpoint is better. from a bodybuilding standpoint however, that rom hits the shoulders perfectly fine with minimal risk of injury, which is key considering the poundage being used. once again, GTFO

  • @13andincrediblycut u dun goofed im sick of you kid, im getting your IP...

  • Goodbye shoulders!

  • someone check his pants

  • hahahah the comments are more entertaining the the vid itself

  • @joshuanic lol i kno i cant stop laughing

  • i once did 100 pounds clean and jerk to a shoulder press to a squat to a good morning to a behind the neck press then back to a deadlift and then shoulder front raised it.

I take about 5000mg of steroids daily and eat toothpaste. It the miracle drug. The toothpaste makes it so you can grow a huge penis and you can be a man. thumbs up. please for my brother!

  • the gym is my bed.... where i jackoff

  • what do you have to do to get a neck like that, what exercises

  • @EagleEye803 eat normal powerlifters 3 to 5 times a day

  • Awesome!

  • Ist behind the neck bad?

How far down can you u go?

  • @762full behind the neck is actually just a different form of the military press and is considered a partial lift, since as you can see he goes halfway down...to the point where your arms are parallel to the floor

  • one time i punched Jupiter in the face. that spot isn't a storm, i gave it a black eye.

  • I got all you beat....Im not even born yet and I can bench press the earth.

  • "didnt feel easy" lol..

  • I'm spamming your comment, because of your grammar. No one can understand that shit.

  • @fearandloathinginNY

Not to mention the racism...just ignore him. He's talking shit to one of the best powerlifters of all time lmao

  • Best Powerlifter in History. Super classy too. Really good representative for powerlifter

  • As great as he was, it would have been a lot more classy if he DIDN'T enter drug tested competitions while on drugs. There are tons of non-tested feds out there and he could have simply competed in those rather than cheating and getting caught. I know lots of lifters use steroids, but many are honest enough NOT to compete in tested divisions.

  • i very mouch doubt you can even hold 400lbs behind your neck. 400lb behind the neck press is something very rare.

  • Lol, I remember this guy that you replied to (TAKEMARU666), he claimed that he could do more than Mark Felix on the viking press because his family is from Scandinavia, what a poser ^^.

  • Wow! Really! Cuz no one cares! :D

  • thats real cool! im only 11 yrs, but i recently leg pressed 1500lbs and benched 900lbs for reps. im still small, only 290lbs. natural of course. i only eat doritos and drink heavy cream. im ripped, btw

  • That's a solid training regime. How many cock pushups can you bang out?

  • i cant even count to a number as high as how many cock pushups i can do. probably because my cock is made of adamantium, and has a 3 inch bicep peak.

  • i used to be able to spin on my dick but im scared of hights

  • thats not bad.. i bench 5 tons and i only eat bread and water and im only 8

  • @GIANTreed1

    nice. keep training brother!

  • @GIANTreed1 that's bloody impressive ;)

  • @GIANTreed1 thats nothing. I warm up with a jumbojet biceps curl.

I dont eat anything and i was born yesterday.

  • @Idonthinkso7331 wow your weak as shit, i warmup by doing some black hole gravity escapes (aka impossible to escape) then i play pool with galaxies. finally i bench press a stick and 2 marshmellows.

  • @aaadddaaammm777 black hole gravity escapes is nothing. Im so strong that when i tried punching for the first time there was a supersingularity formed witch we know as the universe today. your move ;)

  • @GIANTreed1

That's nothing bro... When I squat, I don't move the weight, I actually push the world slightly out of balance. And I'm 6 and consume only motor oil and paper ashes.

  • @RonMeijers so ur the one who fucked up japan? haha jk

  • @GIANTreed1 That's admittedly quite impressive, but I've got you beat---I eat nails, brush my teeth with sandpaper, create ATP and synthetic testosterone from the oxygen in the atmosphere, and I can do 1-arm curls with a Dodge Viper

  • @NWpowerhouse85 Dude he's only 8, go easy on him!

  • The behind the neck press isn't supposed to be performed TO the neck, that's asking for rotator cuff problems. Eddie did it correctly.

  • @Ludichris8531 so correct

  • There are videos on YouTube of Kevin Levrone doing BNP with 400 lbs for reps on a smith machine. He is in contest shape looking very impressive w low BF%. Amazing strength, world class physique & a real good guy too.

  • shoulders of steel

  • you need great form to lift big weight

  • Comment removed

  • especially deadlifting and rows

  • wait wtf did I say? I think I meant to say especially lol, man that was dumb....did not mean to say that lol

  • thats not 400pounds add up the weights

  • could be a 100lb plate on each side and they're not all 45s

  • im inclined to agree but theyre not really big enuf to be 100pound weights. theyd have to be made of a very heavy metal being that size lol

  • most of the ones ive seen havent actually been way bigger than normal 45s

  • Yes, that's 400 pounds. There are three 45 pound plates on each side, a 35 on each side and more weights visible. This is 400 pounds.

  • looks like 2 45s

  • That's far thicker than 2 45s. Go into a gym and load 2 45s like that on the bar and tell me if it's that thick. This is 400 pounds. Ed Coan wouldn't do singles with 300 pounds for a behind the neck press.

  • yep ur right. just bad quality video i guess. it looks like theres only one seperation bewteen the weigths

  • there's 3 45's, a 35, and a 5 visible on the side closest to the camera, which adds up to 395. if there's a clip on each side that makes it around 400.

  • Comment removed

  • kevin used a smith

  • Kevin Levrone did 405 for reps 4 weeks out of the Olympia!

  • wow amazing lol if your gonna do this u should start on a very low weight like 5kg or 10kg and work on tequnique

  • I have always been fine with behind neck, each to their own

  • You think you know, but you have no idea....Injuries that often come from full r.o.m btn presses isnt because of the stress on the heads of the delts. Its because of the stress on the shoulder joint its self. Some people can get by with them, and some cant. Skirts365 has no clue as to why powerlifters do what they do,so his discussion on this subject is useless.Coan is a powerlifting legend and has done more than skirts and morry will ever do no matter what r.o.m is used.

  • use a smith machine to reduce chance of injury and to get full rom

  • youre chances of injury are just bigger with a smith..

  • interesting never heard that

    Y is that?

  • this is just a neckpress if it was then it was a frontpress haha

  • Isnt that the military press

  • Sometimes this is done, especially in the IPA.

But here, it is not. The nature of the behind the neck press demands NOT putting it down in the squat position because it is very likely to destroy your shoulders from that position. Any such movement from down there would be done with insignificant weight.

  • Unless your mariusz LOL you Ever see that video,?

  • Yeah... he definitely did push presses though, not straight behind the neck presses. I think even Mariusz shoulders might hate that.

Doesnt take away the beastlyness of people pressing more than double what I can jerk nowadays though...

  • Or maybe he's actually strong and isn't trying to have his shoulders fly out of their sockets by taking a big ass slab of weight like that and dropping it below the necessary range of motion. Great form.

  • Strong yes, but a bit under 400 pounds. Taken down the whole way would have been too heavy---risky is just an excuse. When I did the one arm chin up I did it with full arm extension, no elbow bend to start, feet free of supporting objects, free hand in pocket. See when you do less than full range, any move gets easier & poundage possibility goes up. End of story. Powerlifter---go ass to floor in pausing wrapless front squat so we can all see how strong you REALLY are.

  • Why would someone who is posterior chain dominant athlete compete in a movement that is quadricep dominant and let himself be judged on that?

You could say as well : Come on Olympif Lifter, show me how you bench press 1000lbs, so we can see how strong you really are.

    Same Bullshit argument

  • Well said!!!

  • Comment removed

  • risky is just an excuse...? really...?

    and i agree with shaolos

  • full range behind the neck is going to blow out the shoulder joint, only an idiot would do it

  • I disagree, if done correctly there should be be no probs,

The stress on the three shoulder heads on a behind neck press done PROPERLY is far superior to overall development achieved by a military style press which places the stress more on the front head.

If only an idiot would do it then i assure you there are thousands of injury free idiots out there with massive shoulders

I think its a bad myth that behind the neck is dangerous. you are entitled to your opinion though.

  • When I do behind the neck I cant even begin to tell you how much it stresses my joints. Feels so unnatural compared to doing militarypresses infront. When I go down it feelsl ike my delts is going to snap almost. Think its pretty much indivdual what presse u can do and what works the best for you.

  • steroids dont diminish anyones achievements. theyre not a crutch or some stupid shit like that, just a tool. he still has to lift the weight. all elite athletes take steroids. people he was competing with were also on steroids.

  • You have enough power for a few more.

  • lol, I don't even know if most of the posts here are either being sarcastic or serious about the bullshit they're describing.

    It's like everyone behind-the-neck-presses 400 pounds nowadays.

Shit man, my sister does like 2000 pounds with one hand, that's nothing. (sarcasm)

And that drugfreeathletesdude ... is not even worth responding to.

  • Ed Coan is the disgrace of powerlifting with a lifetime ban from ever competing again.

Ed Coan was kicked out of the USAPL for drug dealing.

Ed Coan has tested positive multiple times. He was caught trying to smuggle drugs back too.

Say what you want about Ed Coan but he will always be known as a cheater and a disgrace.

  • coan is a legend, taking steroids dont diminish what he achieved. all world record makers in all sports take drugs. to not take drugs would be to compete at a disadvantage. sad but true

  • indeed...

in my opinion drugs do not make powerlifter a cheater..

unless hes competiting against someone who doesnt use drugs that is

  • He was competing in a drug tested federation. Competing on steroids in a drug tested fed is cowardly and most certainly cheating. I think Coan was still a noteworthy and amazing athlete given that just about all powerlifters use steroids even in tested feds, but the bottom line is that cheating is cheating and if he wanted to juice he should have just stuck with non-tested meets.

  • Couldnt agree with you more man.

  • My cock does behind-the-neck presses with 650.

  • Yeah, I did 425lb free weight at 16 yrs old.

  • Free weight? Olympic weight lifter? Sounds hard to believe.

  • awesome lift. thats 400 pounds. i did 315 myself stading. i have the same built as him. not 240 though 220. was 220. so, i know how strong you have to be to lift that much. i always admired him, since the 80s. good stuff.

  • Ed's the Babe Ruth of powerlifting. IMO the best of them all.

  • Ed Coan is one of the greatest ever by the way, Michael Jordan of powerlifting.

  • all the way down on BtN press is beyond stupid. You ruin your shoulders. Only a know-nothing moron would do something like that.

  • I like how these fags keep commenting on how far he went down as if the world champ doesn't know what he's doing.

  • whats coans best total and when was it?

  • He did 2463 recently @ 242lbs! Pound for pound strongest man in the world.

  • The weight is 3 45s per side plus one 35 and one 10. That totals to 405 just like the video claims. Coan is a phenomenon not easily imitated.

  • HoLy Fuck....that's 1 powerfuL man

  • looks like 300lbs to me but still an amazing feat of strength

  • why would you go all the way down on a heavy behind the neck press...its hard on the rotator cuffs...half way is much safer on the shoulders...

  • It's not all the way down, but still that's an impressive lift

  • have you tried even doing 225 all the way down?

  • I don't do that lift, I've done military presses with 225, but I haven't done behind the neck in years, it's a dangerous excersice, but it does work the muscle good

  • you try going all the way down and see what happens to your shoulders.

  • this is realllly hard on your rotar cuff... amazing weight tho

  • That's pretty damn strong, I wonder why his bench press wasn't so impressive if he could shoulder press this much.

  • I think he did 580lbs raw at 220lbs

  • Not sure, but I saw him struggling with 520.

  • ya fuck.. any lower and say goodbye to your shoulders! espically with that weight.. that was pretty good range of motion.

  • It's not a jerk, it's a press. That's why.

  • A half rep would be to top of head. More like 80-90 % all the way down. Much lower and he tears his shoulder gridle.

  • A full rep behind the neck can compromise the shoulder joint capsule.

The bottom of the ear is a good place to aim for IMO.

  • you only need to go til your arms are parallel to the floor to work the side and rear delts really well. more than that and you're askin for an injury.

  • Overhead press doesn't work rear delts, why don't you learn some anatomy before postin' bullshit. It works front and rear dealts and injury won't develop from just one time, you have to do it over some period of time then you'll experience it.

  • "doesn't work rear delts" followed by "it works front and rear delts." lol what a moron. Presses in front of the face work mostly front delts, behind the head works mostly side and rear delts. i know anatomy. you can get hurt doing anything one time. how stupid can you be in one single comment? you can go too low one time and drop the weight and rip your shoulder apart. stupid people online are gonna get someone hurt with bad info.

  • You fuckin moron. Do you even know where rear delt attaches and his actions? It is only involved in transverse extension so it's in no way affected with overhead presses. Rear delts work while doing pullups, for example, which are the exact opposite motion of overhead presses. Any logic, bitch? Bad form can get you hurt on any exercise, not just this one so cut the crap. Please, do not argue on the area you're not familiar with, I personally disected muscles on the corpses so stfu.

  • Okay, do me a favor, raise your hand in the air as you'd do when performing overhead press. Now touch your rear deltoid, if you even know how to find it. It feels soft, doesn't it?

  • Now hold that position and bend over and feel it again, it's hard, because it's involved in transverse extension.

  • I have owned you in this discussion and that makes a fool out of you.

  • Croatia is lucky to have you lol. BEHIND-THE-NECK, your rear delts play a big part. FEEL THEM when the weight is BEHIND your head. or try actually doing them in the gym, if you even lift...i guess you don't use your rear delts when you bench, do you? ass. you obviously are one of those internet know it alls with the scientific definition, and no real life experience. go give a blow job to a Colt .45

  • Wow, you come here and talk shit with no arguments to back it up. You're a fuckin idiot unworthy of arguing with and a weak bitch no doubt about it. You have no knowlede of the even basic anatomy and I'm quite sure you can't even differentiate your rear delt from your lateral dealt. I'm not gonna waste my time arguing with a worthless insignificant and moronic internet toughguy.

  • if you say so. ALL HAIL CROATIA!! lol

  • Okay, let's get something clear - contrary to the popular belief, Croatia is not a backward, undeveloped country. We have strong economy and tourism, we're about to join EU, so your opinions are outdated. We're the most developed country on the Balkan, besides Greece.

  • U.S.A.

  • Turkmenistan

  • That sounds like a video game.

  • It's a country.

  • I figured...you're too smart for me.
