Actually, in the comics Flash DOES have a drunken abusive tyrant for a dad who abused the heck out of him for years. Though in the original comics he and Peter got into a fight wherein Peter took him out in one punch. Flash realized Peter was strong enough to trash him and stopped physically bothering him, but kept up the verbal insults (though Peter was confident enough by now to turn them right back and make Flash look like an idiot every time).
