ok he just stole everything from OS X thats so so so so cheap i hate him so much! vista isnt reliabe at all, looks better than windows xp tho but still, if youre planning on getting a good computer but dont want to spend too much on it get a sony vaio it almost like a macbook, im on a macbook right now and its amazing took me a year to save up for it and my parents put 200$ in it its the best thing ever.

in windows vista there is an preview option that you can have on windows explorer that acts just like quick look, leopard came out this year, vista came out last year, whos copying now. It does exactly the same job but just doesnt look as nice. You can go through multi page documents, watch videos in in....ect.

Oh fah. Apple rips off other people just like the rest of them. Finder uses the same metadata and searching abilities as BeFS does. And that's been around for over a decade.

Multi-touch from the iPhone is also not a new concept. Just obscure enough to make it seem like one.

I LOVE OSX, but personally don't think it's horribly innovative. It's just nice to have so many good technologies bundled into one product.

Mac OS X is better because of it's UNIX kernel (almost the same as Linux kernel). It's stable.

Right now, I'm using Ubuntu, but I'm going to buy a MacBook Pro in about two months.

If Vista didn't have all of those features that were "copied" (because of course Apple invented the concept search, and especially desktop search (sarcasm)) then you would say that it sucks because OSX has them but Windows doesn't. Apple still leads in creative content designing and superior music organization (yes i'm talking about iLife and iTunes) but u dont hear us bitching about that--we know that Microsoft will never catch up to mac on that spectrum.

First, Microsoft announced in 2003 that it was going to integrate "instant search" into its upcoming operating system. Next thing you know everyone else scrambles to do the same.

Next, Apple wasn't the first to do widgets. The Confabulator was the first, but I really like Vista's implementation best.

Finally, Microsoft was doing research for what would become the desktop composition engine in 1999. Plus, they don't even look the same.

To JayRyan reply about how OSx isn't the majority in the desktop business. The Mac OS X is essentially an OS for the professional use. If you see the entertainment business today almost everyone uses Mac's to get there crap done. Just because all the teenies at home uses Windows doesn't mean apple sucks.

no it doesnt mean that Microsoft is better, it just means that when it comes to doing business, Microsoft is much more dirty than Apple, meaning they are not afraid to steal ideas make sly deals to get the products they make. If it werent for Apple, there would be no Microsoft, and its because Bill Gates ripped off Steve Jobs that the company came to power. Apple is amazing at innovation, but Microsoft is better at business tactics, which is why they have most of the market share.

i just want to point out that right now I am typing this comment from a 2.16 GHz MacBook, its my second Mac (my first was an ibook), and currently my father is using a MacBook Pro and my mom is buying a mac soon. I love mac, and ppl should use osx for business but its because of Microsoft's manipulative business strategy that I am one of the 5-10% who use one. And if it werent for a stupid addiction for games that ppl have, more ppl would be using them =(

Eh, I haven't found anything Mac specific that would be of great use for business. Most businesses use Windows because of the lower cost and more availability of useful business software.

When it comes to games, well, Mac just needs to either create better Mac specific games or gain better compatibility.

I had an Apple for a while and I just prefer Windows XP. iTunes still rocks, though.
