  • Some of what you had to say is correct and a good idea some you should think over for your next video. What you use and how you do things is how you like it and thats fine.

  • and I do need a slip from singers this stops them asking if I have this or that and them saying put me in for this song or that. I have no time for that when we have 30 or 40 singers. I would say you need 10 books not 4. We all have lots of songs now so don't make your books to big just make a good root lookup.

  • good info vince im adding karaoke to my djin now and this was a big help i also use virtual dj just gotta get the music and its not cheap thanks for the vid

  • Just bought my RMX... trying to follow my dreams of DJ'ing... I also would like to eventually get into the Karaoke deal... Your videos are on point like Chris Paul... Just wanted to give you a shout out for your hard work... You are inspiring my dreams! Thanks bruh... GOD SPEED

  • @beeceebeatz Thanks! Yeah, the rmx is a bad boy. Don't fall asleep on it and don't let other djs try to diss it. In the right hands, the rmx combined with Virtual DJ is the bomb. I still use it today and I be rocking my parties like crazy!

    ~Vince

  • Youre a smart badass,u fix us lols.....

  • Great video but I'm a little confused. I thought you could play karaoke music through VDJ? So why use the Show Presenter to host your files?

  • @spaatman You can but Virtual DJ is a horrible host for karaoke, imo. I hate it for karaoke, but love it for djing. Also, I don't use Show Presenter anymore. I now use Karma. It's great!

  • @spaatman VDJ for karaoke? Yes you can, especially if your karaoke music is not multiplex. I mean no vocals on the right side. In case your karaoke music have vocal guide on the right, you must know how to route your signal to the mixer to get the 'karaoke music' part only.

  • From my experience as a bar kj, drunk ppl don't use the books, except for a beer coaster. I have 3-10 books to wipe down + organize after every gig.. My point being: Don't buy karaoke books if your audience is asking you 'Do you have this song?'

Drunk ppl are easy to entertain, as long as you keep 'em that way. Sober singers, now that's a challenge. -Thanks for the vids, man. Keep 'em coming.

  • @FattyArbuckle1981 LOL!!! Yep, you're right! Thanks for the comment. My setup has changed quite a bit since the making of this video. One day I'll need to make an updated video to show how I'm doing karaoke these days.

  • The video is great , which Peavey 10 mixer you are using , the PV 10 usb or PV 10 non USB ,

how to do set up , configuration , using Hercules RMX , PV 10 with virtual DJ.

  • @johnnyv7478 That is the Peavey PV10 without usb.

  • the best tips and sepup .. good job bro!

  • I think you done a great Job , i also used Hercules RMX and Virtual DJ

what's the name of the other mixer that you used , thinking to buy a similar one like that.

If i already have music in my external drive and inside the computer.

how can i can i convert those song to karaoke or to get the lyric.

  • @melodi7478 The mixer I am using is the Peavey PV10. It's a great little mixer for karaoke. Also, you can't convert existing mp3 into karaoke tracks. You have to buy them separately. Good luck!

  • Thanks for this!! You mentioned using inexpensive mics. Are they wired or wireless? Will VHF wireless mics work in this environment?

  • @acekingmedia I use inexpensive wireless mics and I am so glad I do. Just last week I had a drunk guy drop one of them and cracked it. I have it taped up now. Yeah, drunk people have a tendency to drop and damage things quite easily so I always caution new kjs not to use very expensive mics for karaoke. And yes, VHF wireless mics work just fine.

  • @MakeItFunkyProds You know on second thought, I don't recommend VHF wireless mics. UHF mics are better. Sorry bout that.

  • DJ Vince. This was GREAT and very informative. I really appreciate you producing this video. Thanks!

  • Oh, and another thing - we plan on getting a dedicated laptop for this and were curious what specifications you'd recommend to make sure everything goes off without a hitch.

Thanks again, this is really helpful stuff for beginners!

  • @OfTheBonis Also after 2 years, I don't use Sax n Dotty's Show Presenter. That was a great program and simple to use, but now I use Karma. Karma is very cpu heavy so that's something to think about. I currently use a Toshiba Satellite laptop. Never had any issues, but I know other people with Satellite laptops who always have problems so your mileage may vary. I always tell people who have problems with pcs to try a Macbook Pro. Anyway, get one with the biggest hard drive possible.

  • Great video - my brother and I going through the motions to setup our own karaoke business, and found this basic tutorial really helpful.

One quick question, though - where do you go to get your music?

We're finding the hardware and software we need pretty easily, so no problem there, it's just been tough figuring out the best places to go to build our music collection - there are just so many.

Also, we'll be going digital as well. Thanks!

  • @OfTheBonis You may wanna check ebay to get started. Try to find someone selling a bunch of tracks at a low cost. I use MP3+G zip files. When I need a new track I pay .99 cents and download it from the internet. There are many places where you can do that. Good luck!

  • very well thought out. Ive seen your other KJ vid, Im too shy for KJ..Lol.. but very usefull info. Oh and about not making gig logs!!..You hooked us now youre gona leave us hanging out to dry:( lmao jk

  • You did a great job in letting people know what's needed to do a professional karaoke show. This is a very good video for folks considering doing karaoke.

    Good job!!!

  • @magicheed Thanks man! I know I left out many things but at least ppl can get an idea of what it's like and what's required. Appreciate the comment!

  • nice tutorial cuz, very clear and concise, i learnt alot from this.

  • I KJ weekend gigs and it's a lot of work but it's fun and there's good money in it. Anyone who wants to get into this should know it's a big investment, and they'll likely work for several months to earn enough money to put together a professional gear kit and enough music to keep the crowd happy.

Great video, I always enjoy seeing how others work. No doubt anyone who comes to your show is in good hands. Nice video

  • @lvpv Thanks man! Yes, I have a blast at my karaoke gigs. It's a lot of fun and I'd rather be doing that than digging ditches. LOL!

  • Hey Vince,

I'm from Belgium and first things first, I just love the things you do and your advice are realy cool. I have also a hercules RMX and look out for a case like yours for my gigs. I saw on one of your video's a very smooth setup with some bord before your mixer, case, .... Did you made it yourself? Also there is a song that often comes back in your gigs and that sound realy nice butt in Belgium we don't know that song. It goes like "down down sugar" can you tell me the tittle.

    Thx man

  • @Djfrean The name of that song is "The Cupid Shuffle." The boards you see on my table that hides everything is called a "Table Topper" made by a company called "DJ Skirts." They just went out of business so you can no longer buy that table topper anymore unless you can find someone selling it used. Thanks for the comments!

  • Where do you get the karaoke songs?

  • @murillolf There are many places. Ebay is one place to get started. You can also purchase and download tracks from places like buykaraokedownloads d o t c o m.

  • You know you are my man,Thanks

  • What kind of mics do you use? How do you setup?Do you use lights on the singer? How much music do you have to have, to start a show? Thanks again,Vince!

  • @bizzyb53 Ok bizzy. I will take my camcorder with me to one of my karaoke gigs tomorrow night and make a part 2 to this video and answer the questions you just asked. :)

  • Come on Vince,Please make a karaoke part2.We need to know!

  • @bizzyb53 What would you like to see in it?

  • awsome.. not to many karaoke dj tutor.. thats why I subscribe... I don't think I would do this though.. but I'm always curious about this route.. thanks

  • Appreciate the knowledge, man...

    Thanks!
