  • what size of rims are on the camaro :D

  • I own both of those cars.

I have a two tone silver and black 1997 RS camaro with a nice cat back and z28 muffler set up. It is also lowered, has a wings west medium spoiler, and 18 inch wheels.

The vette is silver with a comp cam, and eldelbrock proflow fuel injection and other stuff. It's probably about 380Hp. I broke the 700r4 trans. Right now I am searching for a replacement and considering getting a T5 kit for the c4. The rear is also out for a new ratio but I got to pick the tranz first.

  • should take the catalitic converter off that vette,,,,runs faster and sounds alot better

  • lol Ive driven both cars before, a cross fire 350 corvette and a 3.8 v6 camaro, both absolutely suck ass lol no other way to put it. Yeah back in the 80's that corvette was the boss of the american market but now days a v6 mustang & camaro come with 100hp more than that v8.... pretty sad.

  • i have that same year ....its awesome to drive

  • lol should have down shifted the automatic and left him in the dust......

  • weak

  • That Corvette is more of a muscle car than that Camaro is..

  • Camaro is so much better.

  • crap year of camaro

  • i have a 97 rs................but at least i put a cold air intake and a new muffler in mine, but i'm pretty sure its not up to racing corvette anytime soon XP

  • of course your on a professional course right now right fish nose?

  • my cousin has a 1984 vette...in its day it was fast and still looks good tday...but my gt walks all over it and its no rocket itself

  • wow are you fucking kidding me...i pull on v8 slowmaros wit my turbo accord faster than that.....god chevy sux

  • @prosurfer2222 So does your mouth :)

  • @Mightymopar1973 dont u mean ur moms mouth

  • For those who keep saying this, TPI didn't come out until 85, in 84 it was shitty crossfire injection, My father owns a 84 and I own an 85, mine is much fast, even before the install of the STS turbo, at 8 lbs i made a little over 500hp.

  • Where you trying ? I have a 84 and it pulls alot harder than that all iv done was straight pipe exhaust (no cat) and rebuilt the crossfire new transmission and new ring and pinion gear and iv ate SRT4 , mustang GT ,cobalt SS and a few others.

  • professionals my ass..... what the fuck

  • What do you guys think of an LT1 in an 1985 Cutlass Supreme Brougham?

    (It's running the 3.8 V6 non-fuel injected)

  • hard to believe an 84 vett pullin like that ,,,but ok,

  • Yea good point. Heavy car, needs an engine like mine

  • You guys look familiar...? :D

  • Southern State Pkwy? haha drive a 97 Camaro base

  • : )

  • lol v6 camaro, no offense but the 80s were a bad time for detroit. Not as bad as the 70s but still bad. A v6 camaro shouldnt beat a vette ever. If anything the rs has to be slower than a standard v6 because of the extra weight from the factory body kit. To the guys talking about how low the power output was in the 70s, thats just fly wheel horsepower. What they actaully put to the ground is pretty laughable.

  • @donwonjon420

No not really. They come with dual tip exhaust, 3.42 gear, and better suspension.

With a few mods it should be able to beat that Crossfire Vette.

  • @Naturalhit

not a crossfire. TPI that year. but with a few mods that vette will hold its own nowadays. i know ;)

  • @Paintballboy549 TPI came out in 85. I used to have an 89 GTA and yeah TPI is a strong engine.

'85 vette has 205 hp and over 300 tq. But they are not that fast. That Camaro is bone stock with a single outlet exhaust. A little modification and it will beat that.

  • Good run redmen

  • unless they changed the motor in the camaro it would have a 3.8 v6

  • corvette got blown away. pitiful

  • the cf injection helps acceleration a lot. newer vettes only have direct

  • A stock 84-86, stock rwhp with 160 with 210 ftlbs torque, its a 290 hp motor, but it was designed to save gas, which is why it sucked, I own an 85 corvette currently, it puts down 390 hp with the rear mount sts turbo and injectors. And currently waiting for my 373's to get here, that should fix the being slow thing.

  • @Icejob 85 vette stock Rwhp was 230 with the tuned port injection 5.7 (the first year with this system and 25 more hp then the 84 with the cross fire injection. 160 rrwhp 84-86?? standard 1975 vette but not the 1980's models. I owned a 86 corvette stock and true it wasn't 0-60 machine but top end is where it was at 155 mph which my 79 vette with L98 option 5.7 was 126 mph 0-60 was quicker on the 79 though

  • @Icejob correction! my 79 had the L82 option The L98 was my 86

  • I didnt think it was possible to have a 5.7 v8 that only makes 200 hp ;my motorcycle makes that. Does it at least have decent torque?

  • it's still a CORVETTE!!!! regardless of what 1/4 mile time it gets.

  • some in the 70s only made about 120 Hp

  • 160 hp was the lowest and that was the standard 1975 model stingray!!

  • I was stating Chevrolet v8 n general

  • @18Aaron90 yeah the big 3 really choked off all there v8's in the mid 70's! all the emission controls was like black arts to auto mechanics at that time and some cases still now!

  • Oh, were you in Maryland near Camp Springs???

  • Long Island

  • Ouch, I'm way off, considering I went there for Christmas '09. : D

  • 1984 vette with the cross fire injected 350 put out only 205 hp that 97 camaro rs probably had the 3800 series 2 v6 with about 200 hp. It's all about weight here the camaro is heavier.

  • ding ding ding, after 99 comments we have a winner : )

  • @1978mtb not just that, but it evens out more when you thin that the 200 hp that the camaro makes is alot more efficient that the vettes, but the vette has a better platform to put it to the ground.

  • @1978mtb Its only a 5hp difference.

  • @vfIskullangel yeah its only 5 hp difference but weight and gear ratio makes a difference and that's with any vehicle

  • @1978mtb You forgot torque too that vette had 280foot pounds of it and the camaro has about 230 i believe

  • @1978mtb or maybe it has to do with TORQUE......hp isn't the world folks

  • hello, it seens everybody got their owns numbers on cars here is a good site to go on to find out some facts, 'performance the essential guide to muscle cars' just google it and you will find your answers

  • well in this video he has 2 more cylinders and 45 more horsepower.

  • Funny, I have a LS1 98 Camaro B4C and 1984 Corvette. I'm sorry to say that my b4c beats my vette without trying. Though I'd rather have the ls1 in the C4. The c4 kicks Ass when it comes to being user friendly.

  • ive driven both, the 3.8L camaro owns the 94 vette to 60 then the vette takes the lead. pretty much how it works. both cars are faster than the average car, but still nothing compared to what we have now.

  • I would not show the public the video you racing 25 year old vett much less all 205 hp. if its tune that week. I had one of the 1st. 84 vetts in May 83 they good then and slow now.

  • No it wouldn't as a matter of fact last friday I drove a friends LS1 Camaro and today I drove an L98 Corvette and the vette was a hell of alot faster than the Camaro.

Unless its got somekind of weight reduction sorry its not happening.

  • I seriously doubt that if both cars were stock. Those TPI 'vettes were mid to high 14 second cars at best until the LT-1 was put in them.

  • I highly doubt the corvette was stock.

  • tpi can run a 14 flat all day stock

  • maybe with a good tune, but 3-5 tenths of a sec slower than that stock!

  • 85 was tpi 1984 is a crossfire injected 350

  • The guy was talking about an L98 Corvette compared to an LS1 Camaro. The L83 was used in the crossfire Corvettes from 84

  • lol

professional drivers. closed course. do not attempt.

  • the 1984 corvette has "misfire" fuel injection and 205hp but its better than the 1982 which only had 180hp

  • not a if it has the b2 callyway package that was the previous pachage to the zr1 and it still had 405 hp

  • what do you drive?

  • an '85 corvette much faster than an '84 and keeps up with stock fbody ls1's

  • I dunno about that man, of course I know nothing about the 85 Vette but arn't those TPI rated ~ 250 HP?. Even the LT1 Vette has trouble keeping up with the LS1 FBody. The LS1 has 100 more HP and a much better power band. I'd have to see it to believe it. MAYBE down low a n 85 Vette could keep up with a LS1, but after 60 - 70 MPH, forget it the LS1 would waste it.

  • hahahahhahahahaha

  • LMFAO you're retarded!!!

    First off, that's a V6 camaro. And if it was a V8, since it's a 97 fbody meaning it'd be a LT1 not an LS1.

these generation corvettes are horribly slow...92-96 vettes (Lt1/Lt4 powered cars) are the only ones in this body style that are worth a shit performance wise.

These vettes routinely run about mid 15 seconds in the 1/4 if I remember correctly-stock LT1's I've seen high 13's, and LS1's low 13's even high 12's bud.

I wouldn't consider that "running with"

  • i bet u have a piece of shit rust bucket

  • corvettes dont rust buddy

  • i never said they did dumb ass but yea they do if u treat them like shit

  • I haven't seen a late model Fbody not even an SS or WS6 take on a 80's vette. Unless your talking about 82 and below yeah its possible but the L98's hell no. Those where still quicker but not by much.

  • Lol if you know how to built a tranny, a automatic will kill a manual any day.

  • Um yes.

    Unless its got weight reduction.

  • i was driving my iroc yesterday and pulled up along side a brand new camaro. we were both goin to the same place and when we parked the cars, their was a corvette in the parking lot and i was holy shit!

  • Whats better a corvette or camaro, a friend of mine says a camaro is faster but i don't know....

  • corvette wins every time :)

  • depends which camaro vs which corvette same year corvette wins

  • bullshit - i have a 97 RS and a 98 SS

ive buried the needle on the 3800 series RS at 125

  • V6 technology a decade into the future beat an old school V8! Not surprised, it 's a lighter engine and can excel quicker if given the distance...better get that corvette home before dad gets back!

  • If you notice though the camaro just sneeks up on him and he wasn't even trying anymore so who knows...that's why I hate racing vids in cars...you can't really see anything that's going on! It's kinda dumb to do!!!

  • I doubt the v6 would won the Corvette still had 250hp and 300tq in this vid... I owned a 96 RS and it wasn't nothing special

  • the 84 Corvette did not have 250 hp. I believe it was rated at 205. Beautiful car but they were not the fastest things out there at that time. Also the cross fire injection was not doing Chevy any favors.

  • 84 vette crossfire injection need i say more

  • All I have to say is MUSTANGS SUCK....fuck a Mustang..

  • Comment removed

  • i dont see why you would compare this car to the vette, the vette wasnt made for drag, its made to take corners which it does quite nicely, not to mention the 85 had even more power than the 84 and with very view mods could hit mid 13's in the 1/4

  • no the gt with an auto trans was 165hp like i stated i will post links to show you every number i got, your info is false and im done arguing with you.

  • ok i didnt mean 295 hp i ment 295 foot lbs typo by me but your right it was a 205+ hp car with a 0-60 time of 7.0 sec. and 1/4 in 15.4 with an AUTOMATIC trans. now the mustang in 84 only made 165 hp and 245 foot lbs of torque with a 0-60 of 7.9 and 1/4 in 15.9 so please mister know it all tell me how the stang was the fastest car in 1984. and 85 86 was all vette also, so take 83 and google some shit next time before hand.

  • also due to a long production run in 1982 and difficulties getting ready to build the new 4th generation (C4) Corvette, no 1983 model year Corvettes were produced for sale to the public. A few 1983 prototypes were built, but never released to public thus the reason mustang wins 83

  • that is one good looking camaro

  • mustang maybe in 83 but in 1984 with the introduction of the Cross Fire injection 289 HP 350 Corvette it left the stang in the mirror

  • It's going to be another story in a few weeks, he's dropping an LS1 into the Camaro. The next video should be more interesting =)

  • What V8 engine came in the Corvette in 1984?, I know for sure it wasn't a 305, & I don't think GM started using the L98 until 1986...

  • 350ci 5.7L - L83

  • race the RS from a start bet the RS owns you hahaha .....

  • yea i dbout that he would get owned from a stop.

i think it would still be close but the vette would still take him.

  • The RS would toast that corvette from a dead stop.

  • how so?

    97 camaro rs: 200 HP @ 5,200 rpm; 225 ft lb @ 4,000 rpm

    1984 corvette: 205 hp @ 4300 rpm; 290 lb-ft. @ 2800 rpm

and the corvette has 3.73 gearing.

how would that camaro take the corvette? maybe in top speed but no where inbetween, and especially not from a stop.

not sure what other mods he did at that time.

  • The Fuel Injected car is snappy off the line. It would take it off the line up to about 40mph.Then the corvette would catch up and pass it.

  • The Fuel Injected car is snappy off the line. It would take it off the line up to about 40mph.Then the corvette would catch up and pass it.

Also those Vettes came with 3:23 gears in the rear.

  • if i remeber right he changed it to 3.73 gears.

  • Finally - Someone who knows WTF their are talking about.

  • From a dig I bet the vette would still win. The l93 still had 300ft-lb and weighs very little.

  • I might be getting a C4 vette next and I already have a 96 RS which will be paid for soon.

    I love these cars.

  • actually pootietang is right my 95' had a 3.4L 5-speed then my 96' had a 3.8L

  • Comment removed

  • the 3.8 started in 1996 i had a 96 and now how a 98

  • closed course on highway 27 with my little brother (professional) in the passenger seat

  • That is no closed course and you guys are not professionals. I do not ever remember seeing professionals on a track with no helmets do you?

  • For that race it was us two guys in the car, about 205lbs each, vs the 3.8liter rs, guys probably around 150lbs. At the time I only had longtubes, highflow CAT, 2.5" piping all the way out, and 3.73's out back. Other than that it's stock with 110,xxx miles on it. It's pretty fun for a 25 year old car

  • 1984 corvette just needs the proper tuning. You can make a crossfire run just have to think air and fuel mixture. ECU power is limited.Chip the car and then race again it will help.

  • you know the 97 RS was only a 3.8 v6 right?

  • wow if i could kill a LS1 then I could Rape the shit out of corvette that old im my Porsche 944

  • An LS1 Fbody would still have problems pulling an 84 vette.

  • Comment removed

  • A stock 1984 Corvette is rated at a 15.1 quarter mile.. Not too shabby for a 25 year old car..

  • really? what are the 86-88"s rated at?? i'm about to get one, and i want to know how it will do up next to a lt1 camaro or something of that nature. i know that the tpi pumps out about 230-245hp, and like 350ft-lb of torque. lots of torqe! hahaa i am curious though to how it would do in the quater.

  • Hey "jn20000", this is "JeepXtreme4x4".. The 1986 Corvette went 0-60 in 5.8 seconds and had a 14.4 quarter mile.. The 1985 Corvette clocked in a 14.1 quarter mile.. So yeah, you would be giving a LT1 f-body a real rough time as long as your car is healthy..

  • nice! thats what i was hoping for. i'm actually looking at one now, and i might be able to get it for free. the man that owned it passed a few years ago, and its just sitting on this vacant lot for about 3+years now. i am goin to try and get it cause i think it qualifies for an "abandoned vehicle". so, we'll see. i'm goin to go talk to a officer mon. about it. mabe it will go well. hopefully. thanks man!

  • that is bad... 89 mustange gt was rated at 225hp and did the quarter at 15.2.. plus I driven 84 vettes there dead slow you couldn't break the tires loose if you tried.. to see this beat the camaro is surprising.. it's far far stock

  • dude u must not know how to drive then. i can break the tires loose sooo eaisly in my 84 and its completely stock.

  • why would you want to break the tires loose in a race? It wont help you at all.

  • thats funny i can break my tires loose on my 84 whenever i want its bone stock...

  • Very Shabby, considering its a corvette and what they were capable of prior to that.

I'm not suprised the camaro lost, Vette had the torque advantage (even with his crappy CFI)and possibly the weight advantage (but that's probably by a narrow margin)

  • Well back in the day (1969) the Corvettes had that massive 427ci V8 with 435HP I believe.. Put out some good numbers..

  • Bullshit thats a highway lol

  • Yeah those RS's aren't the quickest things out there.

  • Sure I'll get some more videos up as soon as I fix my radiator leak. The 3.73's are amazing, it's like driving a new car!

  • what you got under the hood? is it stock crossfire?

  • Stock crossfire with 3.73 gears out back

  • Thats a damn nice Camaro. hopefully mine will look like it soon.

  • Crossfire for the win! Whoohoo!
