@ACIDRAIN139 originally, on the album, they played a note on a regular grand piano but had it amplified and ran it through a Leslie (rotary) speaker and it fed back . The feed back was un-intentional but sounded so cool they used it. Rick has the actual master tape sampled on the keyboard he's playing here. These guys are pros .. this is definitely Pink Floyd

If I may add, without invoking drugs or other things, this whole song [the Pompeii version especially] has four different perspectives not just two as you are saying, a perspective with each member having a "story" to tell. You can bunch em up and get Echoes you can couple them up and listen to a different toon with a different result, you can listen to that killing bass line or to the crazy drums and so on, the song is endless in any way you can think of it. All you need to do is listen :)

The "ping" heard 'round the world. There isn't anyone who hears that and doesn't know exactly what song is about to be played. I love it. All Rick has to do is touch one key and the place erupts. Sometimes simplistic is best.

I'm 27, so a little past Pink Floyd's time, but you'll never convince me that ANY artists currently out there will ever come close to matching 1/10th of what they did. You just won't. Pink Floyd truly.....are in a world by themselves. Which makes us very lucky.

Had tickets for these shows and on the last night the 31st May had the front row of the choir stalls sitting behind the band above Rick, could actually hear the drums acoustically and had the remote camera operators just below so could also see the gig on their screens. Sadly Gilmour will not play Echoes again without Rick who is missed by everyone and with Gilmour was the sound of Floyd.
