bangkok is the gay place to be if you are around southeast asia...definitely give KL a miss although what i do knw the one small gay club/disco/bar to go in KL is BLUEBOY around bukit bintang...although i have not been there for ages...
@TheElixir007 it certainly doesnt lack nightlife. it's just that two things were going on here a)Ramadhan and b) i didnt go to the right places... so there's tons of nightlife going on in KL, you just have to be smart and go look for it during the appropriate time (as opposed to me who just dropped by whenever i could... but what can i say, i'm a lazy tourist...)
gay activities are forbidden in malaysia... police will raid any licensed night club if there is a gay-related activity going on... most malaysian view gays as abomination n they will not cooperate...

And as for Marketplace, it's good on a Saturday night, but it does have events held on Sunday nights (as well as this other place called Maison that holds ticketed gay dance parties... kinda circuit-y type things). I'm a fan of Marketplace cos it's got a nice rooftop area that gets you away from the dancefloor for a while, and it's usually quite packed. Can get a little bit boring for regulars because it's always the same people, but tourists seem to enjoy it!!

Frangipani IS a bar, but it does get pretty packed and "club-like" after midnight. Slightly less full during the fasting month because the Muslims can't be seen to be going out and drinking (La Queen is predominantly a Malay ie. Muslim, crowd... and that's probably why it was empty).
