@brandyhasendo - It's been good and bad. I know I need to do an update - I'm sorry! I am still finishing up outstanding homework from a two-year-long teaching credential. I still have pain every month, but I'm rarely bedridden from the pain. I still take lots of Ibuprofen, but not so much Tylenol 3 for the pain. I still miss work, but not as much work from the pain. So there's some good, despite still having pain.
WOW you sport that gown and cap WAY Better than I did! hehe. YES! Bring your OWN food! I should have put that in mine. VERY important. OWCHIE bumped into your bowels! The Cath is almost the worst part to me! ug. Walking and BREATHING deeply!!! IMPORTANT. :) YAY FOR PILLOWS!! haha this rocked! you make me smile! Let us know how you are doing. Can't wait for your next video! Hpefully faster than I gave everyone mine! hehe
@EndoSteph - Hey! I'm doing poorly if it takes me this long just to reply to you, LOL! I've been busy with work and school. Finally graduated my preschool class, then got myself graduated with a shiny new teaching certificate, and then I flew away and spent two weeks seeing family and friends.
friggin a man!! You are so brave. thank you for your continued posting and helping us endo sisters not feel so alone! you ROCK... and I absolutely LOVE that song at the end!
@lillypad3320 - The surgery takes up to two hours but some have gone longer - depends on how extensive and embedded the endo is. The hospital staff make you walk as soon as you are awake. You can't be released from the hospital until you can urinate (because you will have been catheterised during surgery), and you can walk around. It will hurt like hell but you have to walk. It will be two to three weeks before you can walk pain-free at your normal pace and drive a car again.
@stephlwe Oh my goodness! 2-3 weeks? I was thinking 2-3 days. lol. They have to do other stuff on me too while they are in there. I have fibroids and ovarian cysts and other problems.
Hope you are recovering well and are feeling much better soon! Thankyou so much for documenting your experience, it is so great knowing im not alone in this battle. (p.s. for me the shouldertip pain was worse than the actual site of surgery)

@8e11e - Every day gets better for me, thank you for watching my videos. Yes indeed, it does feel great to know we are not alone. Hearing from you and others on twitter and facebook helps keep morale up and our emotional fortitude strong. :)
@emilyvonstroodle - I was terrified before both surgeries. It's normal to go through such fear.
For the hospital bag, I packed: toothbrush/paste, pads, slip-on shoes, my favourite throw (blanket), long sleeved nightgown I bought for post-op, iPod, microwavable heating pad.
I've no idea what to do about shoulder pain. It will be intense & you will want the heavy drugs for it. The pain gets under your diaphragm & ribs. The pain radiates up to the shoulders. It's awful.
I'm going to have my 2nd surgery on 8-22-12. My first was last 04-30-11. Sad but this is it.

How long does it take to do the surgery? How long after the surgery until you feel well enough to walk around or drive, etc.?

Hi,
Thank you so much for posting
I'm having my first lap this coming Wednesday (05/01/11) and I am absolutely terrified - not sure what of, but I'm really nervous.
I'm hoping to ask for an anti-sickness drug through my IV. I'm currently packing my hospital bag, do you have any tips?
Thought I should take some flat ginger ale for the shoulder pain from the gas?
