  • Ellington acknowledged later in life that he wouldn't have been a success were it not for Strayhorn. Yet he was hesitant about talking of Strayhorn's homosexuality in public. He and Strayhorn himself kept it out of the media because of obvious reasons: there was no cover up. They did what all performers do when they know their lifestyle would offend the public; deny, deny, deny. Hell, John Wayne was a crossdresser, but no one knew it until after he died.

  • Well, folks . . . this documentary clip states that Strayhorn "OFTEN went uncredited for songs that he wrote". This implies that Strays was cheated out of his due royalty payments, and that Duke willingly conspired in this subterfuge.

    When an assertion like this is made, those making it are obligated to provide some evidence---does the complete film give any? 

    Which are these alleged "mystery" tunes? A list of them, please!
