Yesterday I spent the day looking for crochet hat tutorials. Very disappointed until I found your hat videos! Most of the other videos either were of poor quality, or the person went way too fast! I was getting very discouraged. I must tell you Beth, you are the best teacher and you have the best videos! When I first started crocheting, I consulted your Back to Basics videos frequently. Tomorrow I am going to try my first hat! Thank you for the time you put into making these videos!
Thank you so much for making these videos! Although I can read patterns, a visual demostration helps so much! Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! I've made a hat and finished an afghan from your videos ;)
I'm a beginner and am loving your very clear directions. A troubleshooting question: I have made two hats now, and I had the same problem with both of them. Once I had my initial rows done, around 3 or 4, my circle didn't lie nice and flat like yours. It got sort of puckery. I still got two cute hats, but they weren't what I had intended. Any thoughts on why mine puckers? Thanks so much!
I was able to do a row or 2 of decrease stitches before I tied off my yarn and finished it up so that I am able to wear the hats and they have turned out pretty nice, actually. I They are a bit larger on the top of my head than I would like, tho, and I was wondering if there is anything I can do to fix that. Any tips would be appreciated! <3
Hi Beth, thanks so much for these videos! I have been afraid to try anything other than dish cloths, towels, and scarves because I get confused by what a pattern is calling for. Your videos have been such a huge help! I am just wondering if I am doing something wrong, tho. I have made a2 beanies, both using an H hook, one with medium weight yarn, one with very skinny yarn but holding 2 strands together. Both have been too big for my head. Should I use an even smaller hook?
Hi, I am planning on making hats for my three grand children who are 2 years old. I was looking for one of those caps that had the elfish point at the back, but I didn't want the point too long. I was thinking I could use the ribbed cuffed cap. To make the point would I do few small rounds before increasing the stitches?
@Ladylasil That sounds good. I would also start with 6 stitches in the first round instead of 12... Then space your increase rounds farther apart... for example, make an increase round, then work 3 rounds evenly, then another increase round, then 3 more rounds evenly... Let me know how it works out for you.
hello! do you have a granny stitch hat vid too? thanks!

I just love your hats. Is it okay if I use them to give to charity. I am always looking for nice simple hat patterns.
Thanks

@jay331s Absolutely! I would encourage you to give them to charity. You can also make them to sell!

@kealliewIt It sounds like you are making too many increases.

@Bethintx1 Thank you! I'm starting on the next one. If it starts to pucker, I'll pull out a row and increase less. What a fun new hobby!
