I love Jeffery R. Holland, he has got such a powerful testimony. It is such a pity that people harden their hearts toward the truth. I guess they just get their information from the wrong sources.

And Holland misrepresents the reason for the Nicea Council. It wasn't that the Trinity was in dispute, but rather the Arian denial of Christ's divinity. The Church in its wisdom and by the Holy Spirit arrived at the conclusion that Arianism was a heresy and that God is three persons of the same substance.

Compare these thousands of requirements for salvation with the scripture that is backed by Archeology, history, geography. The Holy Bible where salvation IS possible only through one Jesus Christ alone.

Are you saying that all someone has to do is claim the name of Jesus and they'll be saved? It doesn't matter what else they do or beleive in? I believe a person who truly "believ[es] and tak[es] upon Christ's name" can't help but live for Him. I think we could all agree that true faith invokes works; it's not the other way around. We are saved by God's grace, through faith in his Son. But we also know that faith without works is dead.
It's the same idea as if I had told you that I was your friend but never seemed to have the time to hang out with you... how could I really say I'm your friend; I'm really just an acquaintance. So to say that someone can believe and take upon the name of Jesus AND also take upon some other creed that Jesus didn't claim YET still be saved is not justified to me.

It depends on your perspective. LDS are knocking on our Bible believing Christian doors to tell us that our belief our creeds are an abomination and that we should join Mormonism and call it Christianity (Note the name of the above video)

My Point: Your arguements have no subtance until you use scriptures in their correct context. And yes, I have studied the context, i.e. the history of the Old and New Testaments, the history of the House of Israel (the Jews) and the history of the world that influenced both. And no, my studies were not strictly from LDS sources.
A quick examination of the two distictly different foundations of Mormonism and Christianity will clear things up for you. One is Jesus Christ alone and the other is IMPOSSIBLE.
A willingness to examine these in truth with an ear to hear is imperative.
I left Mormonism after 30 + to become a Christian. It took me a while to develope an ear to hear. God is good and faithful. Stay with the Genuine Word.

It is precisely because orthodox mainstream Christians believe in the ongoing guidance of the Holy Spirit that we consider the councils of the early Church correct. And Holland misrepresents the reason for the Nicea Council. It wasn't that the Trinity was in dispute, but rather the Arian denial of Christ's divinity. The Church in its wisdom and by the Holy Spirit arrived at the conclusion that Arianism was a heresy and that God is three persons of the same substance.

Yes the Trinity is a mystery. But so is Hollands notion that three separate gods do not constitute polytheism. Of course this is polytheism. You made my point, he left only when he was ready and after he had created the structure needed to carry Christianity forward. I doubt you know many facts about Joseph Smith. How did he lie and give detailed descriptions of ancient cities, roads, weapons, geography, etc... that has only begun to be uncovered in the last 40 years. Your claim that 58 prophecies has failed is ridiculous. Let me guess you got that from an anti-mormon website? He is more than credible if you want scientific evidence. If you want truth, seek it. I got the information from a book called To Moroni With Love. Then I looked up the information to see if it was correct at the LDS website. I have seen it for myself in Mormon literature. So for you to say that it "is ridiculous" lets me know that you have not done what the Bible says to do: Prove all things-1 Th 5:21.

How about the Nicene Creed?This verse is about not changing Book of Revelation. Proof? Revelation is not the last chronological book in the New Testament. (written by John, who later wrote his gospel) And, Deut. 4:2. Same message from the Old Testament. Has the OT been added to? the end of the OT says END OF THE PROPHETS.

If you'd like a more thorough analysis on everything from the existence of God itself to the veracity of the claims of the Church I would direct you to the book "The Articles of Faith" by James E. Talmage. If you feel your arguments are still valid after reading it I would love to hear them.

There are false gods- money, idols, etc.. but only one true God - Right? Isaiah 43:10 "Before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me." More verses- Deut 6:4 & Hos 13:4. Is Jesus a true God or false god? If false, why listen to his teaching? If true, there is only one God - he must be part of One Triune God- Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

a couple of the missionaries and one of the Elders came over tonight and we went through this talk. I sat and watched it through the first time and then picked it apart the second time. What is up with that? Elder Holland was VERY disrespectful and the audience laughed at a very inappropriate time... and you guys don't put other people's beliefs down? Give me a break!

Far from the truth Hoff. To say that Christ's Atonement did NOTHING is rediculous, and I wouldn't blame you for calling us crazy IF we believed that. But we don't. = ) Salvation is just as possible in our beliefs as it is in yours, and it is available to everyone. How would our church grow with no hope for salvation? I can tell you, just as surely as you would tell me, that I believe I am "saved" RIGHT NOW, AT THIS MOMENT. The difference is that I believe it's possible to mess that up.

Well, if you dare...do a word search in your own gospel link CD on "saved, salvation, damned, exaltation, exalted." You will quickly discover the LDS teachings, words of the LDS prophets condemn you to a position of NO salvation. Compare these thousands of requirements for salvation with the scripture that is backed by Archeology, history, geography. The Holy Bible where salvation IS possible only through one Jesus Christ alone.

Are you saying that all someone has to do is claim the name of Jesus and they'll be saved? It doesn't matter what else they do or beleive in? I believe a person who truly "believ[es] and tak[es] upon Christ's name" can't help but live for Him. I think we could all agree that true faith invokes works; it's not the other way around. We are saved by God's grace, through faith in his Son. But we also know that faith without works is dead.

So to say that someone can believe and take upon the name of Jesus AND also take upon some other creed that Jesus didn't claim YET still be saved is not justified to me.

1. I don't need to know you to see that you have used one verse of scripture to prove a point that the entire chapter never intended.
2. I'm not following "Christian" videos and trying to prove them wrong. You came here, I will defend. If you can't back your claims then don't post them.
3. The word is VERY sufficient indeed. But it's straight up useless when hundreds of different churches (even christian churches) use single verses to try to prove their own points.

A quick examination of the two distictly different foundations of Mormonism and Christianity will clear things up for you. One is Jesus Christ alone and the other is IMPOSSIBLE.
A willingness to examine these in truth with an ear to hear is imperative.
I left Mormonism after 30 + to become a Christian. It took me a while to develope an ear to hear. God is good and faithful. Stay with the Genuine Word.
