Those that loved us always treated us like weak children. All we wished for was the power to split the earth in two and THEN they will RESPECT us.

I think that the best Raistlin would be found in some country over seas with some actor that is trying to make his way into the big scene from Acting School or something. Because I've witnessed scenarios like this to happen and they pull of an excellent role. Why? Because again, they have to make a huge effort and do it right and commit to the charecter. Actors who already have a name do not.

I don't ever remember them referring to Rastlin as a warrior. He was born as a sick child and his parents were not even sure that he would live past infancy. They even told stories of when he was young and use to entertain people with his magic tricks (though he was also picked on by these same kids). Raistlin was never a warrior and even before his Test at the Tower he was sickly. But, still, I agree that Depp is a HORRIBLE choice though he does have very good acting experience.

I'm 32 now and even though I read those books 2 or 3 times each I think the last time I read them I was maybe 18. All I will say is if they ever do make a movie they better be prepared to shell out the dollars and make it as good if not better than LOTR was. My collection is there for when my son grows :)
*shudder* Please don't wish LotR movie success on DragonLance's possible movie. I HATED LotR and the only Tolkein book I actually enjoyed was The Hobbit. lol I first read Dragons of Autumn Twilight when I was 13 but was unable to find the rest of the books so I didn't read the entire series until I was 16 (I think) and I'm 20 now. If you really enjoy them then you should look for the Annotated versions of Chronicles and Legends. The side notes alone will motivate you to read them all over again
I read them when i was in 12/13 and managed to read one after the other then continued to read the elminster books after. These are my favorite books i have read. Though the dritz books are a close second. the move was crap i actually rage quit after it coz i found it wanting compared to the books.

Hearing Jack's voice from 24 over pictures of Raistlin was odd. I am an avid 24 watcher, but also a Dragonlance and Raistlin lover, so this was kind of weird for me.
This is most definitely a clip from 24. Since it's just Kiefer playing Jack, I'm sure his voice for Raistlin will be different. More raspy or what not. I think Kiefer Sutherland will make a fine Raistlin.
I don't know whether this movie will be bad or not, but regardless, I am VERY excited. =)
I've never really thought of Raistlin with a sarcastic voice. I've always imagined him with a real low voice like after having all you're air blown out (first hand experience) and with a bitter voice and almost spitting like voice when hes mocking someone. :') thats the lovable raistlin in my head.
He is constantly described as being bitter and sardonic in the first trilogy, Keifer's voice is a perfect pick. Too bad they hired fecalating monkeys to do the animation.
One thing about Sutherland's voice though is that he's not doing it for Raistlin, The voice is from 24 from what I've heard. So he will...hopefully speak more like what you'd imagine Raistlin would speak like in the actual movie.

Raistlin is a amazing character. I am very happy, Kiefer Sutherland make the Raistlin voice in the upcoming animated movie, 'Dragons of Autumn Twilight'. His voice has that certain texture to it. His voice, while familiar with the Jack Bauer character, has that certain texture to it. He can capture the 'character' of Raistlin's voice, as described in the books, while also giving it some sort of realism. Anyone can do a hoarse whispery mockery of Raistlin. Kiefer, I think, has what it takes to give it life.

Go watch "Dark City" if you can find it (Its a movie) and listen to his voice there... THAT is a bit more of what I hear when I "hear" Raisltin in the books.
From reading things here and there I heard he was very miticulous about getting Raistlin's voice, personality, and spell pronunciations exactly right.
Look Keifer is going to make a great Raistlin his voice is usually dry and slightly rasping at times so im sure hes going to kick ass as the best bad ass mage of all time

It is going to be good. I love Dragonlance, have read pretty much every book several times through. I'd prefer to see Huma, I'm a big fan of the idea of Knights and honor (in real life and books) but I'll settle for this!

*shudder* Please don't wish LotR movie success on DragonLance's possible movie. I HATED LotR and the only Tolkein book I actually enjoyed was The Hobbit. lol I first read Dragons of Autumn Twilight when I was 13 but was unable to find the rest of the books so I didn't read the entire series until I was 16 (I think) and I'm 20 now. If you really enjoy them then you should look for the Annotated versions of Chronicles and Legends. The side notes alone will motivate you to read them all over again

I read them when i was in 12/13 and managed to read one after the other then continued to read the elminster books after. These are my favorite books i have read. Though the dritz books are a close second. the move was crap i actually rage quit after it coz i found it wanting compared to the books.

I seriously envy you! I live in sweden, so its bloody damn hard to find the english books, not to mention the translated! I only got to read as far as "Dragons of Summer Flame", when they stopped translating the series. :(

Hearing Jack's voice from 24 over pictures of Raistlin was odd. I am an avid 24 watcher, but also a Dragonlance and Raistlin lover, so this was kind of weird for me.
This is most definitely a clip from 24. Since it's just Kiefer playing Jack, I'm sure his voice for Raistlin will be different. More raspy or what not. I think Kiefer Sutherland will make a fine Raistlin.
I don't know whether this movie will be bad or not, but regardless, I am VERY excited. =)

I've never really thought of Raistlin with a sarcastic voice. I've always imagined him with a real low voice like after having all you're air blown out (first hand experience) and with a bitter voice and almost spitting like voice when hes mocking someone. :') thats the lovable raistlin in my head.

One thing about Sutherland's voice though is that he's not doing it for Raistlin, The voice is from 24 from what I've heard. So he will...hopefully speak more like what you'd imagine Raistlin would speak like in the actual movie.

Raistlin is a amazing character. I am very happy, Kiefer Sutherland make the Raistlin voice in the upcoming animated movie, 'Dragons of Autumn Twilight'. His voice has that certain texture to it. He can capture the 'character' of Raistlin's voice,Kiefer, I think, has what it takes to give it life. Sorry,I hope that they understand to me,my english is not good,i am from Argentina.

I was disappointed at first hearing that Kiefer would be the voice for Raistlin, but after I've thought about it (and watched a few more episodes of 24), I think he has a good shot.
His voice, while familiar with the Jack Bauer character, has that certain texture to it. He can capture the 'character' of Raistlin's voice, as described in the books, while also giving it some sort of realism. Anyone can do a hoarse whispery mockery of Raistlin. Kiefer, I think, has what it takes to give it life.

I think Keifer Sutherland is an awesome choice for Raistlin, but I seriously doubt he'll sound like that.
Go watch "Dark City" if you can find it (Its a movie) and listen to his voice there... THAT is a bit more of what I hear when I "hear" Raisltin in the books.
From reading things here and there I heard he was very miticulous about getting Raistlin's voice, personality, and spell pronunciations exactly right.
