  • Brad Pitt is banned from entering china cos he starred in this movie - Fact!

May Tibet, her land and people be free!

  • Thanks for uploading! It was on BBC today but I missed it. We are afraid of making films like this anymore. Nobody wants to displease the powerful China. But we have to keep spreading awareness of what is going on in Tibet. It is only when we give up that China has won.

  • @ AuroraGreenleaf

    If you search on

    TIBET - sephjoey

on youtube you will find a 6 part documentary recently uploaded by sephjoey about Tibet. 2 of the 3 parts I've watched so far were excellent.

Learn about Petition Thresholds Signatures needed by November 11, 2011 to reach goal of 25,000

we petition the obama administration to:

calls upon the People's Republic of China to put an end to its repression in Tibet as demonstrated by the ongoing unrest

I am writing this letter to draw your kind attention to the tense situation in Tibet due to the Chinese authorities’ increased restriction in the wake of a series of self-immolation by Tibetans in Ngaba Tibetan region...

  • @Glovefullavasoline ... which is form of democratic government. It is the way the leadership is chosen that defines it as a democracy.

  • Mao was a evil devil!!!! He destroyed China and killed millions of people. He was as evil as Hitler!

  • @ kithchan2

Hilter got dealt to by the major powers around the world in fairly short order.

    .

Governments in many countries are pandering to the most evil Regime on the planet in 2011.

  • @kithchan2 many countries experience inner war before they got stability, like US, UK ect, china is one of those,,,,if he was as evil as Hitler it will be nice, people like you already disapear and the world especially china have a better and more peaceful life....

  • What a great movie. And today, Tibet is a raped and violated nation, where the people are treated like slaves and animals, with absolutely no dignity. And the world just watches.

  • It's wonderful made - like he is dreaming from the tibet mountains by looking at the austrians mountains!

  • there is no point leaving pro tibet comments and supports in any forum without seeing these chilli chickens ( desendents of downs syndrome parents /chinese hackers ) swarming in with fake ids and facts which are historically incorrect...

  • am i the only one watching this for david thewlis?

  • and please stop the who invade who kinds bull crap. the English, french and the Spanish invaded north america, and took the land from the Indians. lets see them return the land back to Indians again. honestly, "free tibet" is only a slogan which came from a whole bunch of hypocrites who like to manipulate this world. we need to stop conflicts, prevent wars and love ourselves and others.

  • Tibetologist Melvyn Goldstein wrote in 1971 that "Tibet was characterized by a form of institutionalized inequality that can be called pervasive serfdom". Serfs lived a miserable life.

  • @ herschelwang

Things may not have been easy for peasant farmers in Tibet in 1948, but Tibetans were much better off in 1948 than they are in 2011 living as SLAVES under the State TERRORIST Government of China

  • fuck urself

    CHINA rock!

  • fuck china

  • "Inside Tibet"

    watch?v=cBgP9CXnm7E

has amazing colour footage of Tibet in the early 1940s. Don't be put off by the black and white at the start.

  • Tibet experienced its first-ever FAMINE between 1959-'63 under Mao's Great Leap Forward campaign.

    *

This was a mad mammoth plan that ended in full-scale economic disaster, killing at least 36 million people in China and Tibet.

  • @HumanRightsVideosT YEAH, please. every country has it's own history and infamous leadership. why does the world give china such a hard time to resolve it's own business. please look at the mirror urself before judge the falut of others. PLUS, although Mao made some irreversible and regrettable decisions, he is the one who stand up and lead chinese people to fight the invasions of other countries. He is the one who scream at the world, "enough is ENOUGH"!!!

  • @HumanRightsVideosT Honestly, i just went to you channel page, all i see is hatred. i beg you, Please stop everything you do, and just take a deep breath. this world is too beautiful to be missed out, and to be blinded by the history.

  • i just came from Tibet about 1 month ago, all i see there is a very well preserved, beautifully cultured and peaceful city. Tibetant people are so nice and happy. i adore the condition that they r living in right now. If there is a war or any conflict occurred in tibet, guess what, the victims r not the politicians. its the people. So why not just let it pass, and hope for its best and really practice what so called "human rights"......

  • @ swatch716

Do you know that Tibet is the largest prison in the world ?

Tibetans can't get on a plane and travel the world the way non-Falun Gong Chinese can.

  • @HumanRightsVideosT well, so does the chinese, they r not free to speak out either. but it's there business, the country is running just fine the way it is. if the government doesn't change, there will be a time for them to change. but if others, and i do mean OTHERS trying to interfere the chineses' own business, don't you think it's kinda unnecessary? plus have you ever seen any country trying to interfere united states business? i don't think so.

  • @ swatch716

If you think human rights are OK in the Peoples Republic of China. I suggest you watch

    .

Tibet: Murder In The Snow Trailer (its only 88 seconds long)

    @ watch?v=LYN-mzRLABg

    .

    and ask yourself

Why is a 17 year old nun being shot in the back as she is trying to escape Tibet over the mountains to get to India ???

  • @FalunGongIsAmazing yeah. at least she die for a purpose. if you walk in one of those neighbohood in detroit at night. guess what, u will get shot for NO reaon. if ylu trying to fight about it. go ahead, but in case you haven't noticed already, NO country is a free country, and no place is freakin perfect. sometimes you just have to deal with. it's called LIFE.

  • @ swatch

I guess you come from the US. The US is barely democratic and isn't a proper democracy, its over run by the NRA and lobby groups.

I often say the US is the WILD West that will NEVER be tamed.

    .

New Zealand is a free country with PROPORTIONAL Voting and a voter turnout of well over 80%.

NZ isn't perfect but if the driving age was increased from 16 to 18 or more and the drinking age was increased from 18 to 21 NZ would be a whole lot better. Young clowns make trouble in NZ.

    Come to NZ !!!

  • I've been reading the book, and I finished reading it yesterday. I'm so excited about the movie :)

  • just fell off the couch LOL .... ahhhhh brad :)

  • OH GOD SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT ACCENTS

  • you guys need free Hawaii if you think free Tibet is right...

  • @linmeng123456

China needs to be free from the CCP as well. Do you know that Falun Gong is good ?

The CCP won't tell you that.

  • @HumanRightsVideosT

As a liberalism I don not like CCP。As a reasonable man I don not like Falun Gong .

  • @linmeng123456

The CCP has spread lies about Falun Gong. I've tried Falun Gong and found its amazing, but not easy for me. I've met a number of Falun Gong practitioners and found they are good people.

  • the music box sounds like clair de lune debussey????

  • @Tangerinez77 It is! and a great tune too.

  • I am from Germany Heinrich Harrer is seen as a national hero here even with his Nazi background...he did zo much for the the country

  • EIN HELD MIT BRAUNEN FLECKEN

  • Best film brad pitt made :)

  • wow 108 likes! very auspicious! Tashi deleh!

  • dOES ANYONE KNOW (sorry) why the Chinese wont let the Honorable Dalai Lama back to Llhasa? Or whatevet happened to Llhasa? Please excuse me if I may have mispelled anything. How could the chinese break up such a peaceful city? He is still in India I assume? I Heinrich Harrer still alive? His friend?

  • @AllieCat356 @AllieCat356 In 1933, at age 21, Heinrich Harrer joined SA street thugs who raped and murdered people Austria in order to promote Hitler. You won't see that in this movie. Harrer voluntarily joined Hitler's Death Squads (The SS) and became an officer. After Harrer joined SS, Hitler then sent himand other SS officers on a mission to Tibet to enlist the aid of the Lamas in the Nazi cause.

  • @AllieCat356 @AllieCat356 Im not sure whether Harrer still lives. BTW, Dalai Lama was also friends with Bruno Beger who performed inhuman medical experiments (along with Mengele) on inmates at Auschwitz and then gassed them. He was convicted of mass murder at Auschwitz. Miguel Serrano was a head of the Nazi Party in Chile, he promoted antisemitism and books purporting that Hitler was a God. He and Dalai Lama met regularly.

  • who is the kid

  • Filthy Nazis AND Commies in one film! XD

  • @Nonamearisto Well said. Both of them were a pain in the arse of people who just wanted to get on with their lives.

  • @Nonamearisto And a filthy American Actor too xD!!

  • @shallowlife MR. SHALLOWLIFE --------> ITS FUNNY U CALL US ~FILTHY~ AMERICANS WHEN ALL WE DO IS LET PEOPLE, INCLUDING UR PEOPLE IN HERE, AND WELFARE IS IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE TO U WHEN OUR OWN VETERANS CANNOT EVEN BUY THEIR MEDICINE OR ARE HOMELESS! YOU ALL WANT TO BE HERE, AND U TAKE AWAY FROM US. IF U HATE BRAD PITT, WHY U WATCHING THIS? EVEN THOUGH HIS ACCENT SUCKS HERE.

  • @AllieCat356 YOu dont let anyone like me in there. I dont even want to go there.

Welfare is also avaible in Germany, and its much much better than in America. So I dont see why any German would want to go there. You are ridiculous, get your facts straighten out.

Maybe some Muslims or Arabs want to go to America, but definitely not the majority of the German people.

Ps. typing it all in Capitals makes you somewhat look like a fool

  • @AllieCat356 Also I have been to America three times, and Amish people with a scarf on their head and wird hill billies did not impress me at all.

  • @shallowlife Haha hun, i never seen any amish as I am from Boston. as far as the hillbillies, I never seen one of those either. Where in the heck did you go? The upper mid west? Come to Boston. we will show u a great time., or NEW YORK OR MIAMI FLORIDA, SOUTH BEACH Great places. oh sorry i hit the caps button, didnt mean to. God bless honey! Love Allie do u really have a shallow life?

  • @AllieCat356

Of course there are nice places there. But every country in the world has nice places. Just dont bitch around and everything will be fine.

No I dont, its more of an artist thing.

  • The full movie!

    Awesome!!!

  • Just talk about the movie, lots of stuff about the Buddha in there, all I care about here... and I like the song when he opens up the music box.

  • Bull shit propoganda film to separate and bring violence to Tibet.

  • About 1-hr-20-min into the film, it showed the communist china's flag & official name but both were wrong. Both shown in the movie belonged to non-existent ROC( short-lived Republic of China, founded by Dr. Sun Yat-sen,demised when CKS fled China to occupy Taiwan). Flag shown in movie is red-blue-white, but the ch. flag is all red w/ a few yellow stars.Country name (in Ch characters) showed in movie says "Republic of China (4 Ch characters) yet should be "People's Rep. of China"(7 Ch chrctrs).

  • I don't know how much of Brad Pitt's horrible Austrian accent I can stand.

  • Say NO to free Tibet, Great Chinese nation IS agains Tibet,'cause Tibetian are the most corupted nation!

  • @Esaul666 Well it sure is corrupted now.

  • @3rdAutisticCuckoo Do you know what happened when the Dalai Lama reigned? 95% of the population were serfs and slaves for the 5% aristocracy. The Dalai Lama got human skin and human hands as presents for his birthday, and life expectancy was 30 years.

  • @SHUTUPNOOB654 Woohoo well now they're *all* serfs and slaves.

Human skin and hands might seem squeamish to you, but it's a different culture. They still have funerals where the bodies get chopped up and fed to the birds - so what?

30 years life expectancy? More like 36. *You* try living at 4000 metres with no iodine. And Cultural Revolution China was hardly the Garden of Eden. It might have been tough in Tibet, but it's no reason it had to be obliterated by an invading foreign power.

  • @3rdAutisticCuckoo Foreign invading power? you should know Tibet has been part of China for hundreds of years. about 1200 years ago, China captured it's capital, however lost it later on. About 800 years ago, Tibet was part of China again under the Yuan, then when Yuan fell, it soon became part of the Ming. Then the Ming fell, and it became part of the Qing. When the Qing fell, Chinese warlords shattered China, and Tibet was under a dictatorship by ''his holiness'' before reunifying yet again.

  • @SHUTUPNOOB654 Just because it's been part of China for hundreds of years, it doesn't mean Tibet belongs to China. As you said, it was invaded by the Chinese many times. I agree that the living conditions for the majority of Tibetan In the Llama's years were not the best, and very oppressive. However, there were part of their culture. China did not improve their life style. The railroads were built for the Chinese to have easier access, not for the Tibetans.

  • @pad1258 The Chinese did not improve the Tibetan life because after the Chinese got there, Tibetan population grew in the millions, life expectancy rose from 39 years to 70+ and slaves, making up 95% of the Tibetan population during Dalai Lama's reigns were allotted lands and autonomous rights. Very good logic.

  • @Ravensteinzh He should teach people. He's very smart.

  • @Ravensteinzh

There were no slaves in Tibet in 1948. If you can get into on of the 900+ Labour Camps in China in 2011 you will find SLAVES working 14+ hours a day 7 days a week for no pay.

People die as a result of being in Labour Camps so they really should be called Concentration Camps.

Have you heard of LIVE Organ Harvesting in China ??

  • @pad1258

Between 821 and 1949 Mongols and Manchus invaded Tibet (and china), but Chinese never invaded Tibet during that time.

The communist party distorts history. The fact is China was the first country to recognise Tibet in the Sino-Tibetan friendship Treaty of 821/823

  • @SHUTUPNOOB654 Chinese did nothing but kill the Tibetans trying to destroy their culture. They will stop at nothing for power, like many other Countries, unfortunately.

  • @pad1258 if uk can keep north ireland so can china keep tibet.

  • @pad1258 Perhaps you didn't listen to what I said. How are they power hungry? they are taking back what is theirs. Tibet was part of the Ming, Yuan, Qing, and the Early republic. It was even briefly part of the Tang dynasty! (1400 years ago, but very briefly). I seriously don't know why people always are so quick to say ''China just kills Tibetans'' That is political propoganda from America. And as for their culture, China has many cultures. No culture owns all of China. They dnt try to dstry it

  • @3rdAutisticCuckoo The altitude may make it hard to live in, but they were there for thousands of years. And if that is a major reason, then why is it that nowadays the life expectancy is double from what it was 80 years ago? and when i said 30, you said 36. Rofl. That's barely a difference, and when people use numbers like 10, 20, 30, 40, they usually mean within that age range.

  • @SHUTUPNOOB654 Hey does the Chinese Ministry of Propaganda pay you 50 cents for *each* post you make here, or just the first? I'm guessing it's for each, or you'd be wasting your time here. When I see a Tibetan as prominent figures in the Chinese government I might start believing that China had the interests of the Tibetans at heart.

  • @3rdAutisticCuckoo Lol. And you think every Chinese hates their country? You think I only do this for pay? pathetic. By saying that, you are saying theres no such thing as nationalism or truth. I am here to give truth that USA has covered up because of their fucking post-cold war, cold war with China. Are you paid by the CIA? or are you just an ignorant dumbfuck who can only see things 1 sidedly.

  • @SHUTUPNOOB654 Nationalism (ie regarding your country as superior to all others) is a BAD thing (remember Japan and what it did to China?). Genuine *patrotism* is fine, but that's when you love your country like you love your family. You love your family because they're your people, not because they're better than all others.

Don't worry, the US has had more than enough nationalism posing as patriotism lately. And I've said so many times all over the net. BTW I'm Australian, not American.

  • @3rdAutisticCuckoo sigh, sorry for the gramatical mistake, i meant patriotism AND nationalism...

  • @SHUTUPNOOB654 By all means be patriotic, but don't be nationalistic. And BTW, I spent 3 months in Southwest China in 2007. My father recently visited Shanghai, Guang Dong and other parts of the Eastern coastal areas, and my sister's father-in-law visits China regularly for business reasons. There are many great things about China and its Chinese, but understanding of other cultures and the wider world is not one of them. Not surprising when your media and internet is controlled by The Party.

  • @3rdAutisticCuckoo I don't even rememeber why we are arguing anymore. But I have one thing to say. All governments have their flaws. All of them make mistakes. And as for this movie, it's all propaganda. Nice knowing you. This has gone far to off topic, and has gone to long. No hard feelings, it was nice knowing you.

  • @SHUTUPNOOB654 Whoohoo! I win! ;-)

  • @3rdAutisticCuckoo It's just an argument... I'm tired of keeping it alive and, either way, we can't change anything. Think that you won all you want.. It really has no significance.

  • @Esaul666 why are TIbetian the most corrupted nation?

  • i dnt tink brad pitt is a gut actor but gut in dis1 tho..gr8 movie...btw 2:23 oooo dats so sweet i wish i woz a kid :0)

  • Its funny to her them speak with german accent. Cause I am german

  • wasnt the guy austrian nazi?

  • yes but austrians speak german

  • ye he was but in the book he use to refer to himself as german alot of the time

  • austria was part of germany during ww2

  • Yes it was part of greater Germany

  • hey that's debussy...

  • 找了好久

  • goddammit this movie is fucking brilliant

  • the music in the beginning is wonderful. Is there a special name for it?

  • Tibetan ceremonial music works as a general term.

  • what

    ACCENT!

    noSKILLS

  • To see some of what happened after one of the 2008 Tibet riots you can watch

Chinese Authorities Brutal Treatment of Tibetans - New Video

    watch?v=PqjC9Wa3sxE

but be warned it is a hard core human rights video which shows Tibetans being beaten on the ground (which is not easy to watch) and other pretty shocking stuff.

  • If you want to see an important Tibet video check out

Torture in Tibet: A Buddhist Nun Tells Her Story

    watch?v=mhrgb1PHodU

which shows how BAD things are in Tibet.

    FREE China and Tibet

  • Anyone who thinks the communist party regime is tolerant in Tibet or China needs to know that if a Tibetan says "FREE Tibet" in public they will be beaten, put in prison and TORTURED.

Thousands of Chinese have been TORTURED to DEATH in China since 1999.

  • @HumanRightsVideosT Couldn't agree more. Left wing doesn't necessarily mean "good guy" and look at Joe Stalin.

  • @HumanRightsVideosT China is basically Communist/Capitalist, Capitalism is quite common with that sort of stuff especially the Americans allowing dictators like Batista to make the poor people suffer in Cuba

  • @uncleruckus714

When Cuba was in the hands of the Spanish the people thrived and were happy happy island people...right? Here is a clue, it is the nature of the human being for the strong to dominate the weak. Why point to America when all powerful countries do the same thing? Question: In your opinion was Castro the savior of the Cuban people that brought joy and comfort to the masses or just another dictator like Batista that was sucking Russian dicks instead of American dicks?

  • @1138thz Cuba and most of the Carribean was not thriving with the indigenous population cause most of them were murdered, died from diseases and committed suicide. And that really depends on people's opinions because their isn't one politician without blood on their hands

  • @uncleruckus714

On that we can agree. But the pre Columbian civilizations were annihilating and enslaving each other long before The Europeans arrived. It seems that Euro and the Amer traded diseases; the Euros got syphilis in return for the mumps, measles and smallpox. Yes, in the end it was the relationship with Swine and Bovine diseases that conquered the Americas for Europe. A Good documentary is: 'Guns, Steel and Germs." And I agree, politicians of all cultures are parasites.

  • @HumanRightsVideosT however Tibet should be free from Chinese occupation

  • @HumanRightsVideosT dalai lama said hes a marxist......so what the hell does he have against china your movement is discredited

  • @ shawnzi24

Do you have a source for that ?

HH Dalai Lama says he's a simple monk.

  • lmao , brad pitt is just an awful actor

  • Brad Pitt is one of the best actors out there,

Count how many unreal films he has been and how many different Characters he has played,

Sure he has made a couple of bad movies but what actor hasn't,

He gets a lot of flack,

    But so did Peter O'Toole,

Watch a few of his movies,

    He is good actor!

  • C'est un film que je vient de voir il n'y a pas très longtemps.C'est vraiment un film super! Beaucoup d'aventure aussi! Rien a dire...film super!

  • omg!pitt is practicaly a baby here,hehe!

  • What is the ISBN for the book, please?

  • PS: Pitt was listed as third in an Empire list of the all-time worst film accents.

  • oh yeah I think he sucks when it comes to accents.... Leonard DiCaprio too, but they're both great actors!

  • @italianjen29 Yeah well, he is not the brightest ever, but I agree he is a good actor...

  • @italianjen29

What a load. Brad Pitt sucks but DiCaprio's Rhodesian accent was damn near perfect in Blood Diamond....say it ain't so.

  • is the movie the same as the book cause we have to read the book for smmer reading and i wanted to watch the movie before i read so it made more sense

  • No not exactly. In the film, Harrer(Brad Pitt) is portrayed as extremely reluctant to associate himself with the Nazi Party, referring to himself as "Austrian" several times and calling the war shameful. However, in real life Harrer joined the Schutzstaffel (SS) and Nazi Party.

Harrer in the film is hailed as a 'German hero', and replies "Thank you, but I'm Austrian". The real Harrer says nothing about any such remark.

  • Actor bias isn't it.

  • A major theme of the film is Heinrich Harrer's change from an arrogant, self-obsessed man, to one enlightened by Tibetan culture - yet in his book Harrer has no such evolution of character. The book also makes no mention of a Tibetan wife for Aufschnaiter, nor of a final break with Ngawang Jigme.

  • The film makes his son a key theme, but in the book Harrer does not mention his family. He had in fact been married and divorced, as the film shows. But his ex-wife's new husband was killed in the war and Harrer's son was raised by his ex-wife's mother. Harrer in his autobiography gives details of his contact with his son, but nothing to support what the film shows. In the book Harrer says there was little to tie him to home as one of the reasons for staying in Tibet and not returning to Europe.

  • The pre-invasion visit of Chinese Communist negotiators to Lhasa, arriving at an airfield constructed by Tibetans, and their departure for China after a brief conference with their Tibetan counterparts—including the desecration of the sand mandala as well as the "religion is poison" remark--- as depicted in the film, do not occur in the book or in any of the numerous histories that have been written about the matter. Nor was there an airport in Tibet to land on.

  • The whole sequence of negotiations and the installation of the Dalai Lama as ruler are out of sequence. Tenzin Gyatso, 14th Dalai Lama was enthroned as the temporal leader of Tibet on 17 November 1950. A delegation was sent to Beijing and agreed on the Seventeen Point Agreement for the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet. Meanwhile, the Dalai Lama left Lhasa and took refuge on the border with India and Sikkim. The Dalai Lama disliked the agreement, but worked with it.

  • The film shows barbarism by the Chinese Army against Tibetans, including civilians. Harrer actually says:

"In 1910 the invading Chinese had plundered and burned when they came to Lhasa, and the inhabitants were paralyzed with fear that these outrages would be repeated. Nevertheless it is fair to say that during the present war the Chinese troops had showed themselves disciplined and tolerant. And Tibetans who had been captured and then released were saying how well they had been treated."

  • thanks

  • thank you for uploading, I love this movie!

  • ugh, that character Brad Pitt is playing is such a prick to his wife.

  • that is very funny. they speak english and try to speak with german/austrian accent. i speak german. it´s awkward. they should have spoken german and subtitelt it. doesn´t make any sense this way.

  • Subtitled American movies are more common now, but even as recently as this film, they were not popular. It was assumed that audiences didn't like reading subtitles and didn't mind the lack of authenticity. But now it doesn't even matter if anyone speaks the language (cf. The Passion of the Christ).

Check out Judgment at Nuremberg (1961) for a creative approach to the use of English in a similarly unrealistic context. I think it's very well done, and regardless, it is an excellent film.
