I'd rather see scenes from a movie that matches what he's singing about. But you'd have to an actual experience of which clearly, you have not. Something like heavy cocaine withdrawal at about 5:00AM. Blinds drawn. Your friends have long gone home... and now it's time to deal with it because you've run out.
great combo. when i watched taxi driver for the first time i figured there would be music put to scenes from the film. i'm happy the music turned out to be by mr. Lou Reed.
You have a good aesthetic sensibility. A good eye and ear. I always found that song funny, but it's a serious theme for many people- even Travis! Nice connection and editing. The last frame was well put.
Great montage---one of my favorite movies mashed up w/one of my favorite Lou Reed songs! Not sure whether it's Lou or Robert Quine playing that slide racket but it always gets me right in the guts...
This is a very fine piece of editing. You've totally captured it. It's also interesting that Lou wrote the song when he was drying out from alcohol (in his own words "I tried to give up drugs by drinking") and that Paul Schrader was on a huge bender when he wrote "Taxi Driver" - according to the book "Easy riders, Raging Bulls" anyway. Brilliant stuff!
these two shared the same love for speed
