This is total garbage. You are confusing electrical energy with CHEMICAL energy. The energy we use comes from the energy in the bonds between hydrogen and carbon in the SUGARS (simple through fats). OUR BODIES DO NOT RUN ON ELECTRICITY. PURE GARBAGE.
By saying "deeper research" I mean to check body response when sweet fruits eaten by a man with a balanced pH but not a lab ash test. This puts into a small confusion when you know that honey is one of the best cure for many diseases. How can it be then? I also missed apple as a fruit (sweet and sour), more explanation about black tea with milk, sugar or without, green tea with lemon or without. Chocolate is bad because of cocoa powder or sugar? Whether 50% or 70% or 90% chocolate is equal?
Very sad that Dr. Young doesn't respond to any of messages addressed to him. But I am sure he reads all of them. So my suggestions for his book updates to do a deeper research about sweet fruits. I've noticed that the more sugar it has the more potassium, calcium, magnesium it contains. Isn't it a natural balance designed to restore pH? When it gives poison - sugar, it gives remedy for it - minerals to restore alkalinity. But the good thing is that vitamins ant antioxidants consumed anyway.
@zinturis Oh, I didn't see these other comments by you. Clearly you have been taken in by "doctor" Young and his bullshit. @George19881988 Clearly you have a lot to learn, and have been brainwashed by mainstream fraudulent bullshit all your life. Sugar is sugar, and sugar is junk. We have salt in our tears, sweat and all fluids because our body tries to eliminate this toxic substance. Why we don't find vitamins or micro nutrients in our sweat or tears? Because the body doesn't give away things needed for itself. The truthful body's reaction is craving for water when salt is consumed. Why? It is crying for help. Salt is good for removing fluids and was used for mummification in ancient Egypt.
@zinturis What are you insinuating? Are you saying the body tries to eliminate all of its salt because it's "toxic"? If so, where did you learn this? Surely you know that salt is essential to human life? Sodium is used for many things in vivo, from proper nervous & muscular function and maintaining acid/base balance. Sodium is tightly regulated by hormones secreted by the kidneys and is excreted in urine when in excess. All fluids are salty because sodium is soluble in water...
I like Dr Young and his pH theory, but I've got a different opinion about salt. Here it's presented as electrolyte. There are 4 major electrolytes - potassium, magnesium, calcium and soda. All they found in vegetables and fruits. As Young himself in one of his videos showed cucumber as an electrolyte. So why we do need non-organic hard particles of rock or sea? Eating vegetables the amounts of these elements are measured by nature, when you add salt yourself you've no idea how much is needed.
C 6 H 1 2 O 6 + 6 O 2 is broken down into 6 C O 2 + 6 H 2 O + E n e r g y through the process of digestion. the energy derived from that is adenosine triphosphate (ATP) which is the main source of energy in our cells. as you should already know, phosphate is a salt. so with every 3 phosphorus, there needs to be 10 carbon, 16 hydrogen, 13 oxygen, and 5 nitrogen which aside from the phosphorus, nitrogen and some of the oxygen is all chemically available in simple sugars such as fructose.
5:53 Dr. Young, what do you have to say about the negative impact on cardiovascular and renal health (high blood pressure) by increasing the recommended salt intake from ~5 to 12-14g (over 200%)?
The thing some commentors don't get is that the 'body runs on electrons' is a conclusion -- ultimately, all the chemical reactions in the body boils down to the transfer of energy between molecules, which means electrons or energy. After you dissect a chemical reaction down from the molecules and atoms to the valences and such, it all boils down to energy, which (aside from quantum consideration) means electrons.
The alkaline battery analogy is strong but the analogy in this video is a little weak because it is exaggerated - there has to be something else in the circuit you are not showing because you are lighting up a large bulb and the current produced in a glass of water would be measurable but probably not enough to light that bulb as much as shown. That is why in some comments people don't get it. If you used a meter with a believable current it would be more believable and still make the point.
@BLHDtube I don't see the light going on at 5:22. The globe just has some external light reflecting off it, as do the bottles etc. I played the sequence several times to make sure, and I can't see any more light in the globe at 5:20 than at 5:10 or 5:00.
potassium and sodium are "electrolytes" when muscle contracts sodium leaves the cell and potassium enters it, when it releases sodium enters the cell and potassium leaves it.
it uses a mechanism in the cell wall called the Na K pump Na is sodium and K is potassium.
that's why when you loose too much sodium to sweat you get cramps, too little sodium to relax the muscle cell.
salt does not decrease the conductivity of water, it increases it. pure water is not a good conductor of electricity. only when sodium chloride (salt) is added, sodium is a metal chlorine a gas, does it conduct.
Salt isn't giving energy, it is decreasing the electrical conductivity of the water.
We need salt so that we don't run out of electrons, however I don't eat salt yet my sweat tastes salty, how is that? Salt is a collection of minerals obtained from a balanced range of mineral rich foods. Yes we need more of these minerals, and we need a higher bodily pH and more electrons, however we obtain energy from calories consumed!
@lordmagicpants sugar = getting you high. salt = keeping your grounded. salt keeps your water grounded or your water will evaporate in your brain, like ocean water.
very interesting. i had 1 teaspoon of salt in water in the morning as a salt flush and my anxiety dissapeared. i was reluctant to have this much salt daily because of everything we are told. but for a 55 kg woman maybe i should be having 10g of salt daily. i use himilayan salt. i have been liberally salting my foods, but i since i do not eat processed food there is no way i am having more than 1/3 teaspoon daily...i will have to rethink this.
@starflower666 The thing is that this demo is an ANALOGY not nutritional advice! Making electrons in a glass of water demonstrates a point that is true ultimateley, but that doesn't constitute nutritional advice! Please do not start eating tons of salt to get more electrons in your body! You just need to appreciate the importance of the acid/alkaline balance in your diet,a dn this demonstration is supposed to dramatize that.
With all due respect, you are confusing our nervous system and our physical (sorry, can't think of a better word) system. Our nervous system is electrical, but our physical system (including our brain) does in fact burn "sugar" (in the most basic sense).
We certainly do not need white processed sugar, but the sugar from fruit, for example (as well the vitamins, etc) are healthy for us.
In short, you are correct, but your presentation is highly misleading. With all due respect.
@rodeohog eat pure raw honey and fruit and you'll realize how much salt you will lose. the high you feel with sugar is the sodium being depleted, thus making your water evaporate in your body. alkaline = ionic minerals = salt. fermented sugar is beer. salt was a currency. money = energy. salt = money = energy.
When you dissolve salt you're adding cations and anions to the solution which enables the solution to conduct electricity because they're charged and mobile. When electricity passes though it work is done to oxidise the anions and reduce the cations, so energy is actually drained from the battery. So are you postulating that instead of providing energy, salt drains energy from the body?
What's in a sports drink? Mainly Sodium and Potassium. The sugar is merely a selling point.
"Chemical energy is the potential of a chemical substance to undergo a transformation through a chemical reaction or *to transform other chemical substances*."
The loss of energy you refer to existed before the experiment-- the electron-deprived water has little to no potential for manifesting energy.
Notice that sugar actually "drains" the water's potential for *any* work?
This is an infomercial, nothing more. There is very little "science" in this video. Although this gentlemen may have a phd in something, he fails to understand the basic principles of chemistry, physics.
actually its not salt. the recommendation that too much salt is harmful has nothing to do with salt. its the quality of salt. cheap salt which the docs are referring to, still has dirt or hard calcium to it.
you can put say table salt (cheap stuff) a teaspoon in water. it goes milky. that is dirt. if you go get some proper salt - pure sea salt - and do the same thing there is no cloud in the water. its that cloudy stuff in the bad salt which clogs arteries etc NOT salt itself.
Why weren't there any peer reviewed studies the same year that Albert Einstein discovered relativity? Answer: it took many years for everyone else to catch on to what relativity really meant. Therefore, dont wait! One should use common sense in realizing how really simple this truth is regarding the benefits of how Alkaline foods can prolong life!!!! Read the Materials and you will see.
i studied nutricion a long time ago. and sugar back then, was a poisen..... that does exacly what is being demonstrated here.....this is a new way of showing what goes on in ur body ....thanks for reminding me
wow that's new to me. very interesting. I'm not trying to dismiss this example when i say this, but I'm interested to see case studies on this where people are compared who have salt-focused diets vs sugar focused diets and how they end up after a year or two.
The point he makes is that Salt (sea salt ) contains electrons which your cells need. Of course we need food for their fibers, amino acids, essential fatty acids, etc... But what Dr. Young shows is all all the excess SUGAR that people eat dampens their energy or cellular potential and is a main reason for all disease. I have seen live human cells under a microscope stick to each other due to a lack of negative charge (i.e. lack of electrons). His books will make you rethink modern medicine.
THis is a famous demonstration of making a battery from a glass of water. Allesandro Volta produced a very similar cell in 1791 using sulphuric acid as the electrolyte in a glass of water and with copper and zinc electrodes.
The reason the lightbulb lights is simply because the negative ions in the mineral complex carry the electricity from one prong to the other. They do not "create" energy, they only can conduct it.
Carbs, sugars, fats, etc are what ultimately create energy - but minerals are required in the body to transfer electrical charges from cell to cell.
Firstly, the expirament was not controled. You did not use the exact same amount of water (should be distilled, that should be a given) and you did not use the same amount of solvent.
Secondly, it should be regular table salt, the same salt everyone has access too, not some PROCESSED salt.
Thirdly, the body uses sugars to produce ATP, which is one of the most basic concepts of Biology.
This doesn't prove ANYTHING to me. Hope everyone else isn't as blind!!!!!!!!!!
The basis of his teaching is interesting. The fact that Tony Robbins included it in one of his programs also ads some credibility. On the other hand these cheep tricks (jdupuy98 is right) and his sweatty efforts to sell his goods places him among just one of the websites. This could be a shame in case his knowledge has a good basis.
I understand he is trying to show another way of thinking about our current diet in relation to health issues through a chemists perspectives. His story sounds possible. And this is a good way I guess of showing the effects of carbohydrate rich diets, which among others is causing a global issue of overweight. However current research shows that both a lower carbohydrate and lower salt intake are needed to improve our current western liefestyle.
Thank you SO much, Dr. Young. You don't know how you've changed my and my family's life. This video was excellent. When I live by this science, I have enough energy to do everything I need to, and more. When I add the sugars - in any variety, my energy is instantly zapped, and I'm completely unproductive. Thanks for all your hard work in research and in bringing this truth to 'light'
what? this is ridiculous, our body does not break down salt to get electrons for fuel, it breaks down carbs, proteins and fats. our body breaks it down through the process of glycolysis and the Kreb Cycle then to the ETC or electron transport chain in the mitochondria, which stores the electrons in the form of ATP or Adenosine Triphosphate (the electrical energy is store as potential energy b/t the phosphorus bonds.) In my opinion, the only thing salt is good for is muscle movement (Na/K pump).
Yeah, this is some of the horrible science. Claiming that salt "provides energy" is bad science 101. In fact, his own demo is proof of that. The probe measures the ability of the water to allow the energy to pass _through_ it, not the energy itself. That is from the battery inside the meter.
This is like claiming a car runs on copper wire not gas. Er, no. The energy comes from gas. Wiring IS critical, but it is not where energy comes from.
this guy is a faggot we need sugar to live because it breaks down into glucose and that keeps us out of comas and salt dries you out and you need water to live so anyone who belives this should go out and eat a whole bunch of salt and drink salt water please
Great... since I knew abour PH miracle and dr Young my life is not the same...I hope we can have his products here in Mexico soon and not expensive...we need to change our food habits soon...
Caveat! I started wondering about his science when he talked about "alkaline" batteries. As there can also be acid batteries (such as in automobiles). Acid or alkaline, by itself, does not determine whether something is good or bad for energy storage. Same with sugar vs. salt.
Too much sodium in a diet leads to hypertension (which 65 million Americans have already), high blood pressure and heart attacks. Americans already tend to get 2x the recommended amount of sodium in their diets already.
Sodium is not salt....sodium chloride is. Sea salt is better than the refined salt sold in our groceries which contains impurities and other contaminents. Sugar (refined) is not a good thing.
Our bodies function best if our systems are, in balance, alkaline. An acid system promotes all manner of illness and disease.
Very powerful demonstration. Life force energy is all about electrical potential. Maximize your flow with natural mineral rich, living raw foods grown in proper soil.
As a psychotherapist and community member, I have been turning so many people onto alkaline/raw food just by their seeing how much energy I have, how happy I am, and how much my life has chaged since I started eating like this. I love your products--I use pHour Salts all the time and also the pHlush (the ONLY thing that has EVER worked right for me) as well as the Terra Phirma. Our bodies 'run' on electricity: that statement is bullshit.
Electricity is the MEDIUM for which energy (aka calories and sugars) to run ON.
Salts simply increase and enhance our body's electrical potential (2:38) for which a BURNING of CALORIES can efficiently transfer energy.

i studied nutricion a long time ago. and sugar back then, was a poisen..... that does exacly what is being demonstrated here.....this is a new way of showing what goes on in ur body ....thanks for reminding me
aguasantamaria 2 years ago
wow that's new to me. very interesting. I'm not trying to dismiss this example when i say this, but I'm interested to see case studies on this where people are compared who have salt-focused diets vs sugar focused diets and how they end up after a year or two.
chikotube 2 years ago
The point he makes is that Salt (sea salt ) contains electrons which your cells need. Of course we need food for their fibers, amino acids, essential fatty acids, etc... But what Dr. Young shows is all all the excess SUGAR that people eat dampens their energy or cellular potential and is a main reason for all disease. I have seen live human cells under a microscope stick to each other due to a lack of negative charge (i.e. lack of electrons). His books will make you rethink modern medicine.

all this video is showing is how conductive saltwater is not how much energy is in the salt, the energy comes from the battery in the meter
oldspice100 2 years ago 3
@oldspice100

Simply put, don't eat processed crap, and eat more unprocessed sea salt...and drink at least 2 liters of water per day.
dstone2004 2 years ago
WOW! I could not disagree more!
Hope everyone else isn't as blind!!!!!!!!!!
elliotb3825 2 years ago
Your table salt is actually 97.5% sodium chloride
and 2.5% chemicals such as moisture absorbents,
and iodine. Dried at over 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit,
the excessive heat alters the natural chemical
structure of the salt causing the potential for a
myriad of health challenges in your body
liberalscreateslaves 2 years ago
The whole thing was complete crap, it had nothing to do with having "controlled" conditions

Pavel001100 2 years ago

Your body breaks down Doritos and turns them into stomach gnomes.

Humans do need salt. But not as an energy source.

this guy is a faggot we need sugar to live because it breaks down into glucose and that keeps us out of comas and salt dries you out and you need water to live so anyone who belives this should go out and eat a whole bunch of salt and drink salt water please

Salt is needed in order for the brain and neurons to function. Potassium and Sodium Channels are crazy important in Neuroscience.

PeterCorless 2 years ago
Sodium is not salt....sodium chloride is. Sea salt is better than the refined salt sold in our groceries which contains impurities and other contaminents. Sugar (refined) is not a good thing.
Our bodies function best if our systems are, in balance, alkaline. An acid system promotes all manner of illness and disease.

This is very very good.
This man is truly an amazing human being .
Communicates exactly what is the truth on the basics of food and an ability to recover our health.
Read his books - watched his lectures and is something we should all get educated on.
Thank you Dr. Young

The pH philosophy is the best example of Occam's Razor I have ever come across!!
Blessings to you, Dr Young!
