@MrChrisdhunt Thank you so much Chris. We probably met at some time or another - I was very pleased and proud to work with Lonnie for a short period in the '80s, handling some press & pr.(Lonnie once told somebody that he liked me because I was the first pr 'suit' he had met who didn't ask him for an imprint of his American Express card!) I was at Lon's funeral and for some years knew Mel quite well (we live in the same city). Thanks again for responding - nice to talk!
@mrwarrendavies Hi Warren ok thanks for getting back I surely must have met you at some stage as i was with Lon from 1979 to 2002 and was also at the funeral in Peterborough. The Lonie Donegan band is now backing Peter Donegan on shows and Peter is living in Peterborough now.
@MrChrisdhunt Amazing Chris - good to be in touch - by all means let Peter know where I am (can private message me on Facebook) perhaps. I assumed you would have been there on that sad/happy day. I came on my own but ended up back at the hotel with Albert and a mate you may know, Roger McGew.
Lonnie Donnegan scottish? Never - he were an Essex lad from Dagenham. Saw him and his band at the Odeon Southampton in 1957 with girlfriend Juanita. Great evenings entertainment from a real entertainer. His best quote? ' all music is folk music' - listen, if you can get hold of it, to a 90 minute interview of how he got his start with Chris Brasher - priceless! ( and this is why we are here tonight )
@SirLeeOldgit He was born in Bridgeton, Glasgow The family moved to England when he was only 2. I grew up in Glasgow, in the 50s & 60s, & he was always considered a Glasgow boy.
Sorry but Lon was Scottish. I worked for Lonnie - regarded him as a friend - was at his funeral with a lot of other people who loved him as well. Born in Scotland (Bridgeton, Glasgow). Dad was a professional violinist. Didn't move to Essex until 1933.
A very underated musician by the public! I was lucky o see him live just before he passed on,heaven is a much finer place now to have the great Lonnie Donegan!
Can anybody date this concert - who's the pianist and the left handed lead picker?

I loved the 70's, where 3" heels could really help a shortish guy. Now they just look silly. Ah well.
Lonnie's the bee's knees. We used to shriek at M O M's a Dustman, as kids.
