nice job but your referring to the strings incorrectly.

the thickest string isnt the 1st string, its the 6th. The strings are numbered from the thinnest to the thickest.

A DVD I've been watching to learn guitar says to use the pinky finger for the High E on the 3rd fret. It's difficult for me but I'll try your way later on.
