He got us out of the 2001 recession, and we had 52 consecutive months of growth. All of those guys cut middle class taxes, too. Of course most goes to the rich. According to christian beliefs, the rich should give away all of their possessions to charity and of their own free will. "In God We Trust" on our money, official prayers, the pledge of allegiance, etc. Mostly relics from the Eisenhower years I suppose, but Reagan and the Christian Right strengthened all the religiosity in gov't. For the last 30 plus years, taxes on the rich -- income tax, estate taxes, capital gains taxes -- have all been lowered dramatically as more and more lotteries have been introduced. The tax burden has been shifted more and more onto the poor and middle class.

Okay, but I don't really see the lottery as a tax. First, it's optional. Secondly, most of it doesn't fund government; it funds the people who win the lottery.
Also, lotteries are run by the states. There's no federal lottery, so none of this affects how much people pay in federal taxes.

You may not see it as a tax but the fact remains that govt policy has shifted a large amount of its funding policy away from taxes on the rich to lotteries that are largely supported by the poor and that is a crime. The states get a lot of their money (or at least used to) from the federal govt. When federal income taxes and capital gains taxes were greatly reduced on the rich, these federal funds largely dried up. State lotteries and fed inc taxes are related.

According to Ron Paul, the cause of our current recession is the Federal Reserve, not Bush's tax cuts. How can a tax cut cause a recession? How does a tax cut for the rich negatively affect the middle class? It's their money; they deserve to keep it.
The death penalty isn't cruel and unusual, and the constitution doesn't apply to terrorist enemy combatants.
I think that the economy would be pretty much the same had there not been a stimulus. It just increased the debt.

Reagan cut the top rate from 70 to 28, and it got us out of a recession. Bush gave the rich a measly tax cut (from 39.6 to 36), and I still can't believe that the libs make a big deal about the "top 1%." He got us out of the 2001 recession, and we had 52 consecutive months of growth. All of those guys cut middle class taxes, too. Of course most goes to the rich. They pay the most taxes, so obviously their tax cut will = more $.

Honestly, I don't see how cutting rich people's taxes hurts anybody else. BTW, Ron Paul believes in a balanced budget, so he'd cut spending, too. We wouldn't have deficits, like in the Bush administration.

The extreme righties also got upset when the extreme lefties called Bush ridiculous names and accused him of ridiculous things. They probably knew better in their hearts, but they hated him sooooo much that they enjoyed mocking him. Same thing. That is fairly short sighted. Extreme rightist call Obama a Muslim and question his citizenship because it aggravates extreme leftists. Yes, it is that simple. Most people know that the CIA would know if Obama was a citizen or not. And most people know that he is probably more of an atheist than anything, and the Christian front is just a ploy to get votes. He is just a sympathizer, as most extreme leftists are (e.g. So he killed his wife, he must have a reason, like persecution (e.g.OJ)).

If the goal of Fox "News" is "opposition to Obama", as you put it, then it's obviously not a real cable news network.
Opinions are a dime a dozen (as anyone who has looked at the Internet knows). Americans don't want more "commentary" (i.e. ranting). What we want is objective professional journalists reporting facts.

I'm not a Fox viewer so I can speak to their accuracy or lack thereof. However your exact same point can also be accurately applied to NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, BET, MTV, Time, Newsweek, NYTImes, LATimes, SF Chronicle, Reuters, UP, AP, PBS, NPR, UK Guardian, etc. The only difference between all these and Fox is that Fox' viewership is up. While all the other's viewer/subscribership is down.

there's a seed of truth in everything. The whole picture of truth can only be constructed by listening objectively to all sides, all arguments, all parties. There is no such thing as a bad person, just a bad idea. This gets confused a lot and then we get lines drawn, walls built between entire groups of people. History will repeat itself forever if these walls continue to be built and reinforced. So please stop with the divisive speech, we're all on the same team.

the culture wars are going to turn violent I fear. we are in a point in time where the imaginations of the disgruntled are fed and led to encompass the entire reality of america. breaking this imagination is akin to denying thier existence. i don't believe that we can convert anybody, but i do hope we can outproduce them through spreading civic virtues and reading of text certified on both sides, Locke the Constitution, Adam Smith etc.

Just don't hate this tiny list of groups of human beings: all black folks, all white folks, all gays, all straights, all Christians, all Jews, or all people from a certain country.
You can hate an individual if it makes you feel better, but don't hate an entire group on that list. Or else people will say you're a bigot.

i think i was very specific and i wasn't singling out entire "groups" of people, save for the people, men that is, that fail to cut their nails, i wasn't including women in that rant. i should have been more specific, i'm bored of being labeled something if i don't agree with or accept someone else's actions. it's to the point where you're not "allowed" to even disagree with someone if they identify with or are considered part of a group

Well, I'm trying to lay out a framework.
You can hate any particular "white" man or "black" man as long as you don't hate all whites as a group or all blacks as a group.
The bigotry is real. We all see the guys who run around YouTube saying they hate all blacks, or whites, or Jews, or gays/lesbians.
I don't think it's so hard to avoid that particular kind of group-hate. Whatever you want to call it.
