He is in the Hall of Fame, but we would be talking about him as one of the G.O.A.T if he had of won 1 or 2 rings.

His numbers and production stack up against anybody as an all-around back. He kept Barry Sanders on the bench at O.S.U.

Today, people are all about Barry vs. Emmitt Smith, as in who was the best of that era.

What about Thurman Thomas?

People talk about Emmitt in the playoffs.

Thurman's playoff numbers are there, and he abused the Giants (and Bill Belichick) in that Super Bowl.

thurman thomas didn't abuse the giants defense in that super bowl. they were using a 2-man d-line and playing pass defense so it was easy for him to pick up yards. and in super bowl 26 he had 11 yards on 10 carries, and in super bowl 27 he was outrushed by troy aikman (not the most mobile dude). troy had 28 yards rushing and thurman had 19. and in super bowl 28, he lost 2 fumbles including one that was returned for the td that turned that game around. thats not impressive on the big stage.

i truly love thurman, but when he fumbled in the SB and sat on the bench feeling sorry for himself, i lost alot of repsect for him.....atrue champion would have held =his chin up and got back out there... and marv levy shud have his ass kicked for letting him sulk on the bench.

@quincee33 This years line will be better, wood can be pro bowl at center, levitre and urbik are tough solid guards. bell wont be coming off a injury so he should be better and the same with pears. i think this is the best line talent wise in some time, probably since 99

The 49ers had placekicking problems in the early and mid 90's. Other than that, they were a complete team.
