Its a hell of a good story. the Roman army at this time was north chasing druids back to Anglesey.

The roman sword at that time was meant for stabbing. Slashing didnt happen till later because of sword design.
Any way the well disciplined roman ranks made mincemeat of the attacking britons.
They then marched down the hill attacking anyone in the way.
The britons had parked a huge circle of wagons to carry supplies hold their families etc.
The romans drove on and the ring of wagons became a trap where nobody could escape. it was awful slaughter.

Its a hell of a good story. the Roman army at this time was north chasing druids back to Anglesey.
and had to march back along the A5 watling St which still exists today. Somewhere possibly near Mancetter they met and the roman army positioned itself on a hill.
Im no fan or the Romans but you have to admire the troops discipline and bravery when confronted by this throng of wild men who totally outnumbered them.. The battle started with British running up the hiill where they were cut down. .

The british tribes at that time were warriors and had as status symbols their spear and sword which theyd had from time immemorial. Up popped the romans and demanded they turn in their weapons.
It didnt go down too well so the tension was already there.
A warrior giving up his arms is like someone chopping their leg off.
After the horse whipping incident things came to a head and everything boiled over.
A massive army of some 100, 000 britons or so were on the march destroying anything roman

In some fit of pique or whatever the roman man in charge ordered Bodicea to be horse whipped circa 62 Ad and her daughters raped. She was a Queen amongst her Iceni tribe and what better way to piss them all off?
They rose up against the Romans and everyone flocked to join the uprising .

The thing about the wedding night is invented though to make them seem even more dastardly.

In Israel, the penalty for killing a Palestinian is about the equivalent of what the western world would consider a parking ticket.
