I personally think this shows why there is a large gap between Japanese drifters and other drifters. they aren't afraid of getting their car totaled as long as they're able to push themselves and their cars to the limit. unlike some guys I know here who just lost their bumpers and they're already don't wanna drift anymore.

People need to realize drifting is an art and very hard to master. On all video games it seems so easy because it's just a little finger adjustment. I am good on video games but cant imagine trying all those inputs in real life. You car is likely to take a beating if regularly drifted.

@FrozenBlaze First, ABS doesn't work if you're pulling the handbrake (at least on the rear wheels). Second, ABS doesn't work if all 4 wheels are sliding. Third, the drivers may have removed ABS from the car. Personally, I hate ABS, so I would remove the equipment and save some weight while I'm at it.

@FrozenBlaze Wow, need I remind you that YOU were asking questions because you didn't know the answer? I gave you 3 possible reasons for why the wheels locked up, and all of them were correct. ABS on handbrakes doesn't work because the power for the brakes is supplied solely by your HAND, and is not power assisted. ABS also needs to sense a difference in wheel rotation for it to work. If all 4 wheels are sliding, to the ABS system, it's the same as if the car is stopped.

@FrozenBlaze And as for the last point, most purpose-built race cars do not have ABS because ABS brakes slower. Also, having the ability to lock all 4 tires is desired in racing when the car spins. "When in a spin, both feet in." Locking all the wheels allows the car to maintain a more predictable trajectory, making it safer for other drivers on the track. There is also the personal preference that I mentioned earlier. I have driven a lot with ABS and a lot without. I prefer driving without ABS.

@phazerrazer Once youve slid past the point of recovering the car with the throttle/brake there is no other option really.. Locking the brakes creates friction and aids slowing the car.. Ive watched heaps of Best Motoring and Option videos and it seems like its common practice to pull the hand brake when you go into a irrecoverable slide/off
