in the bible it says that humans have domain over all animals and you can only eat certain foods ARE YOU GOD DO YOU DECIDE WHAT WE EAT YOU ARE NO BETTER THAT THE ANIMALS YOU WORSHIP
ok this is stupid genesis1'26 then god said let us make man in our image according to our likeness let them have dominion over the fish of the sea over the birds of the air and over the cattle over all the earth and over every creeping thing creeps on the earth... we have dominion over the animels that means the power or right of governing and controlling; sovereign authority we can pick what we want to do with them peta this agument is stupid you don't know the bible do you
apostle peter states the unnatural eating of flesh meats is as polluting as the heathen worship of devils, with its sacrifices and its impure feasts, through participation in it a man becomes a fellow eater with devils.
@elmo1057 Would love to see your facts about this vegetarian view of jesus and his apostles. Also unnatural eating of flesh has many different views in religion including the possibility of cannibalism. 7 of every animal on the ark to be used as sacrifice which includes food. The bible doesn't say anything wrong about eating meat, just participating in blood.
and that guy is wrong.... Chrisitanity is not about people because if we ignore our surrounds and ignore the fact that we are not the only ones on this planet that god created then the human race will never go foward....killing animals and our home and health is something jesus never wanted
Why doesn't he support the rights of plants? They are living beings just like us. And why aren't we putting meat eating animals and insects in Jails. This is an outrage!!
@VictoryFire88 its on their website buddy. Regardless of their actions the orginization still thinks that all domesticated breeds of animals are an "Impurity" in the blood lines that humans caused.
I personally don't know what happend to the people that did it but the creator/founder of peta has been killing animals for years go look it up.
yet another example how religion just stands in the way of an intelligent argumentation based on reason and facts.
Fact is that meat is not cheap food, it needs so much more input of grains and water to produce meat compared to the consumption of the plant based products itself. Simple fact, hugely ignored.
i think, killing an animal with a bullet in the head, to feed your family, is less painfull than eating the animal when isnt already dead, like lions. lions dont care if their prey is alive or dead, they just eat. imagine that. Oh by the way, they are conscious of their cruelty. yes they are. they kill hyenas for fun, cats kill for fun too.
@helloimbanned yeah i think it's ok if somebody kills you to feed himself and his family, i mean they want their protein and you taste yummy, right. sure, with a bullet in your head though, nobody wants you to suffer. Just eat you
@ArayCaramba yes some animals would kill me to feed their families, but like it or not, its nature. if you dont kill to survive, youre going to die, or get killed. And forcing people to change into a vegan diet its antinatural, our bodies are made to eat meat. In fact our bodies are made for hunting. Its sick to think that im a murderer (like that guy in the video) just because i eat meat, i buy food, not kill for it. and if i had too kill, i would do it, for my healh not for fun like a cat
@helloimbanned yes killing and getting killed is natural in the animal world, and it will be. Humans have a choice though and we don't need meat, we can get all nutrients easily from a plant based diet.
We COULD live without killing animals systematically though, cause it is destroying our planet and it poisons our moral capabilities. We just don't want to cause it's yummy. That's stupid and tells me a lot about us.
You buy and eat meat so you don't kill it yourself, but you do support it.
Was it just me, or did Smith seem overly angry and defensive? I was hoping for a good theological debate, but pretty much all he did was make personal attacks on Bruce and his organization that were completely off subject. The OT did talk about having lamb at the passover feast, but it is no secret that Jesus broke plenty of OT rules. It seems like all Bruce was saying was that even though the Bible says we can eat meat, we cant support animal cruelty by eating factory meats.
I agree on what Bruce is saying about animal cruelty and the way they treat animals in slaughter houses, injecting with steroids to make them bigger. Poisoning our food supply etc. There is a better way in slaughtering animals humanely so they wont suffer when there being killed but not all animals are meant to be eaten. Do your research.
I recently took a trip in the USA and was shocked to see the number of FATASS and potbellied people walking around malls and supermarkets. I also saw lots of people with mobility problems on the streets. For a nation that sees animals no better than trash and murders them for their unnecessary lust for meat, no wonder half the population have medical problems before senior age. And no wonder the nation is paying through the nose for healthcare. What comes around, goes around.
@jovalex3000 we have moral duties toward animals in relation to humans, it is the consequences of our actions upon their lives that matter morally. Besides, since non human animals aren't moral agents, only moral patients, natural predation is not a moral issue for us. But keep in mind that over 97% of all killings of animals happen in factory farms, over 60 billions (marine animals not included) each year. So animal predation isn't really a problem for animal ethics.
Diet from a single food group alone doesnt make you any healthier than a meat eater. Exercise does a huge factor in feeling healthy too. I dont follow much on what the bible says, but i will have a nice rib next to a fresh green salad with some beans.
PETA (2000++DOGS AND CATS KILLED EVERY YEAR RUNNING FOR 25 years 85-98% KILLER) = PEOPLE EUTHANIZING THE ANIMALS (FOR MONEY) Then has the NERVE to call NOKILL RESCUES, BREEDERS FARMERS ANIMAL ABUSERS.. GOOGLE PETA EUTHANIZATION RATES FOLKS~
@RedNeck7273 No, you don't need meat to survive. Plenty of vegetarians are living proof of it. If you think its not wrong, that is your opinion. I personally don't think its right but at least what you do is a step up from factory farms. Its not your right to take the life of those animals, what gives you the right? Its more of a privilege you have to eat meat not a God given right. I don't really pay attention to Peta. So no point in arguing here. Bye :)
@RedNeck7273 Aw thanks. I'm not a hippie but I'll take it as a compliment as I'd rather be that than an ignorant zombie following the crowd. Not saying you are but just saying I'd rather be a hippie than that.
Wesley Smith mentions that people must have cheap food sources, and uses this as justification for eating meat. If he looked into the matter at all, he would realize that actually the West's consumption of meat is one factor in keeping grain so expensive, and is partly to blame for third world starvation. Feeding the whole world a Western diet is impossible, and those who eat Western diets do it at the expense of the world's poor people, not to mention the nonhuman animals themselves.
Bruce Friedrich says that doing something that harms a human or nonhuman is antithetical to the animal rights movement. This is not true. If you physically harm a murderer in order to stop him from murdering someone, does that mean you can no longer be a human rights activist? It's perfectly consistent to believe in rights and at the same time think it's legitimate to take whatever means necessary to prevent someone from violating the rights of others.
The interviewer asks if violence is ever justified in supporting animal causes. What a euphemistically laden question. How about we ask this:
Is it ever okay to use violence against animal abusers in order to prevent the abuse and torture of nonhuman animals?
Let's call it what it is. The ALF, etc. don't do what they do because of abstract ideology, they do it because if they don't, those animals will be tortured and murdered. Call that wrong if you will, but at least call it what it is.
Abolition of animal exploitation is NOT detrimental to human welfare. The transition to a vegan diet alone would cut health care costs tremendously. The psychological effect of our society's condemning violence against anyone would improve human relations with one another. We will never seen an end to human oppression so long as anyone is allowed to be exploited.
Jesus said not to KILL, but didn't they KILL lambs for sacrifice? O.o
I'm just saying by the way. I'm just doing research for a class debate and I've been assigned to the CON side. I really love animals and God. I really do.
If every person visited a slaughterhouse, they would be horrified first hand, meat consumption would go down, no discussion. And Jesus probably ate a little meat at feasts. It was a very big deal to slaughter an animal back then so they probably did not see the gluttony that we have today. He probably ate mostly vegetarian. However, he would probably have not been rude to refuse any food offered by the host of the occasion if the meal included meat.
The real question is, would Jesus eat animals now, what with the current way we force them to live a life of tortue and ruthlessly slaughter them for food. Remember, he is likened to the Good Shepard who carefully watches over his flock, and I am sorry, but none of the animals eaten today are raised or cared for in a compassionate manner.
Go Bruce- the animals are lucky to have you as a spokeman!
This is such an amazing debate! Unfortunately, I am NOT on Wesley Smith's side. I think if you claim to be a good christian, your moral duty is to practice compassion. This does not mean only to humans, but animals as well. Go Bruce!
@AlvinAndHobbes but they arn't honest. Peta want all domesitcated breeds of animals to die. 90% of animals they get ahold of they kill. Going so far as to dump animals in dumpsters instead of using proper channels for body disposle.
