JFK was not a successful president, he was just a stylish president that died young in a glamorous manner. You could list among his failure 1)the Bay of Pigs invasion and 2) causing the Cuban Missile Crisis. I don't think solving a problem you caused is much to brag about. You could throw in his support of the rise of the Baath party in Iraq which led to the slaughter of countless innocent people and wars lasting decades with multiple nations.

Kennedy was never a vp. In 1956 presidental nominee Adlai Stevenson left the choice of a Vice Pre. nominee to the floor of the Democratic convention. The end result was that Kennedy came in second to Senator Estes Kefauver.
