This was not the first time George and Helen danced with each other. In the Jeffersons' second season opening episode in 1975 called A Dinner For Harry (it's on You Tube), they danced with each other and it was hilarious.

Well, he was an actor on Broadway primarily from the musical "Purlie" in which he starred as Gitlow. Being in a musical definitely requires singing, acting, and dancing ability...and when it's a BLACK musical, well, you gotta have all those abilities AND SOUL! In fact, the role of Gitlow in "Purlie" is what got him the part as George Jefferson. No doubt...Sherman Hemsley had enough SOUL for the 9 or 10 people! LOL!
