They're definitely emo. people put a negative connotation on emo, but it really isn't that bad to be. SDRE was one of the first big "emo" bands and they were awesome. MCR is emo, and being an emo band really isn't a bad thing. It's just the style. Their songs do have a lot of emotional meaning, and are often darker in theme, as many emo songs are. it isn't a bad thing.
